Theogios

Theogios (also known as Teodinus) was a human of Greek ancestry who became the ruler of the region that would later become Caelteth Eyrop (the Western empire). Possessing great magical power as well as military and political genius, Theogios joined the fragmented peoples of the region into a single empire united against Anok Farahu (king Farahu), the serpentine wizard in control of Egypt. By the time Theogios had risen to power, the other Changers had already established themselves as the major deities of the world, and in this respect Theogios was the youngest of the changers. Despite his late beginnings, his ability to rule with fairness but discipline while defending his lands, and the worship of so many followers during the following years, sealed his status as a true Changer and not just another powerful mage.

Theogios

Details regarding the events of the Changers' War are sketchy but it was a power struggle between two serpentine changers, Farahu in control of Setkhantos (Africa) and Piltzintlicoatl in control of Tzalxochitl (South America), that is generally accepted as the root cause. Theogios fought to protect and isolate his people from this war and in one great move pushed the entire continent of Setkhantos south several hundred miles. This created a barrier of water between the continents and is the reason why Theogios is often called a mover of mountains or mover of the earth.

The divide between Setkhantos and Eyropa was not enough to keep the war at bay for long, and soon Eyropa too was embroiled in the worst war the world had ever seen. No amount of strategic brilliance on Theogios' part could fight the kinds of magic being wielded by the other Changers. Magical creatures spilled forth from all corners of the world, reality bent and twisted, exploded and perverted much of the world as mages from all sides used everything at their disposal to attempt to destroy one another. The puradynes believe that Theogios, fearing that the war would destroy the entire planet, collected all his strength and finally put an end to the war by sacrificing himself to create a magical barrier between the astral plane, from which all magic is derived, and the physical world. This barrier is known as The Seal. The Seal put an end to the power of the Changers and their war. Nobody knows for sure what happened to the changers, but most sane beings hope that they will not return.

Not surprisingly, religions based around the other Changers also exist and claim different reasons for the end of the war. Puradynes point to the existence of the Seal as proof that their version of events are true.
