Thread starting date: This thread starts immediately after the Gala Bombings and will continue into the days that follow.

Summary: Essentially, a look at the workings of the Marn Hospital and emergency response services from the POV of the first responders and medical staff as of the Gala Bombings and Wall Bombings.

An attempt to bring to life this aspect of Marn AND provide a place for Metarie and other injured people to post.

Other Notes: Suggest spin-off other threads if we get lots of people posting PC interactions to keep things from getting confused. Just use "Physician Heal Thyself: <Character Name> in the thread title so I know they're linked and retain some of the Summary and NPC info for continuity.

I created a Marn Hospital wiki entry.

In thinking about the size of the city and the size of the Hospital, I've arbitrarily decided that we have a 150 bed capacity on the main facility and two satellite facilities - one at the Uni and one in the Industrial district.

Shifts are 10-hours long and typically have
1 - licensed doctor
10 resident doctors
10 nurses/medical assistants

I think this means we need about 30 resident doctors and maybe 28 nurse /medical assistants to cover all the shifts. We should probably have at least 2 licensed doctors or maybe even 3 per shift, because house calls.

Plus, we'll need a licensed doctor at each satellite facility and a staff there. Lots of NPC and even PC opps, just so long as one realizes this isn't Marcus Welby, MD, and most posting doesn't involve doctory stuff.

I took the PM discussion and the Wikipedia text and made a draft for a volunteer program for the hospital of Marn.
Renee would join this out of mix of motives like loyalty to the city, a feeling of guilt for being a potentially evil magic carrier and so on. She also has a latent talent for supporting healing I’d like to develop eventually.

Hospital Volunteer Program
Duties of hospital volunteers vary widely depending upon the situation. The hospital assign volunteers to tasks based on real-time labor demand or assign them to a single unit. All volunteers wear a uniform and ID tags within the hospital.

Novice Volunteers may attend in staff reception areas; file and retrieve documents; take out trash; clean up after the nurses and doctors; provide administrative backup; assist by doing the dishes and autoclaving; help visitors; visit with patients; or transport various small items like flowers, medical records, and drugs from unit to unit.

Advanced Volunteers It can happen that volunteers help out with janitorial duties, like cleaning beds. Other "advanced volunteers" include patient-care liaisons and volunteer orderlies. These volunteers must operate on the orders of a nurse or a physician and are given special training to permit them to work with patients

At the Gala, she went into shock and the Guardsman medic is doing is best to get her to steady state so she can be transported to the Hospital. Feel free to write in the Guardsman, Tius, if it pleases you to do so.

Yes, you are right, when I wrote my post about Renee I assumed it was a direct sequel to the gala thread. The first post seemed to mean the wounded from the gala were on their way in to the hospital. As I thought of it, Renee followed when others went to the hospital, with a vague idea of helping out. We'll see how it works out.

Let me know if you want me to edit and put in some kind of timestamp in my post, or in case you'd like me to move my text to after the post for Metarie. I realize I may have posted a bit too early, but I assure you it's no problem if you'd like to do changes. Just tell me if there's something you want.

I think your post fits perfectly with straight from the Gala to the Hospital, unless you meant for her to show up the next day?

If you meant for her to follow along to the hospital immediately following the Gala, you're spot on! At this point, the one of the residents is looking to find out if Renee needs medical help.

From here, she could easily volunteer her services as a ... volunteer.

To clarify it I edited in a time reference and a new sentence in the start to my post for Renee. It's straight from the gala to the hospital.

I'm not feeling impatient in the least and I don't lose interest if you don't post all the time.
I sincerely am content to wait for you to find time and inspiration to write. As I see it, it's important to never let writing become a chore and a "must". So take your time, please, and no need to feel rushed.
