Crafting Iron and Steel

The farms and houses of Shim, a single inn known as the Red Chalice, and an old manor on a hill overlooking it all to the north.

Crafting Iron and Steel

Post by KoriStronghammer » Tue Nov 16, 2010 6:36 pm

Kori stepped back, placing the last piece just so. He had scrimped and saved, selling his labor between Shim and the City of Marn, to finish his dream. He had bought a small piece of Land on the outer edge of Shim, and had built himself a Forge there. It was large, 20 feet deep,15 feet wide and the lowest ceiling beam scraped the sky at 8 foot. He probably didn't need that amount of space, but he was a big man ad wanted room to move. Who wouldn't?

He had managed to go out and procure the iron and steel he would need to get off the ground a bit, and had started by forging himself weapons, things to replace the ones he had to hide. One of these weapons served as his wood ax, simply because keeping a Forge hot and fiery required a little more than hot air. There was at least 12 ricks of wood stacked and covered at the back of the Forge, ready for his use, ready to make things to create, to build with, not always destroy.

He had built a Forge capable of many things. There was a anvil that was quite huge, to put it simply. He would be able to create the durable, the biggest things there. That was the anvil he would be able to swing a hammer with all his might upon, to beat out the impurities in the metal. A smaller anvil was about 3 paces away from it, with chisels and small hammers around it. That was were he would do all his artistic works for people, with much engraving and beauty. There was also a work bench with different types of hammers hanging from it, and a wire puller. He did not relish making gold or silver wire, but it was what people wanted, and he could possible make iron and steel wire, he would try. In the back by the small forge was the trays for nails and arrowheads, the iron bottomed bucket hanging so he could pour the molten metal into the trays when he needed to make those things. Sitting closer to the fresh air, where he could look out into the street, was a grindstone to sharpen or dull a tool or creation as needed. Then there was his bellows. Sitting directly beside the forge was a rope. The bellows were connected to the rope and forge, and as Kori was working on the forge, he could pump the bellows as needed.

The amount of work he would get in Shim was unimportant to him. He had a trade. He had a place he could call home, for he could sleep on the floor of his Forge if need be. He could always go to Marn and use his brawn for bishan if he needed to, but what he wouldn't have to do is go around being angry, violent and mean to people to make money. Now he only had to use his war skills if he chose to ,or found a cause worthy of fighting for. But for now, he had a warm fire, metal ready to be molded to his will, and half a sandwich that he was going to go ahead and eat. There was a bell on the wall for customers to ring, so he could go in the back and eat if he so chose.
