Kudos and Applause

Post by Metarie » Sat Mar 15, 2008 10:49 am

As I read through all the stories, I feel the urge to say things like "Wow! Great job!" or "I am enjoying that!" To that end, here is a thread so I can do just that. If I don't post a positive comment immediately, trust me, this just means I am behind on my reading.

I don't remember how I found Thar Shaddin. I think I was searching for a new place to RP at the time. What I do remember is bookmarking the site, a little daunted by the quality of writing. I took over a year to finally jump in. I am so glad that I did. Not only did I find a group of talented writers from which to learn, I feel I have found new friends (and a twin apparently! :P)

Anyway, I'm being all squishy here, so let me get back to the reason I started this thread. I had already posted something about Flame's dream in the Hunting Lanya thread, but then I continued reading (not doing my homework which is due in 2 hours, I might add). I will get to everyone soon, but for my first comment I want to say this:

Gia, I am really enjoying the inner struggle between the wolf and the girl.

This is a fantastic thread idea! Thanks for starting it, Ree! My twinkie! :)

Honestly I enjoy reading pretty much everything on the board. Quinn, Daq and Pag consistently make me laugh with silly little comments. Panterras makes me laugh because his plans and action are just so very silly (the man is not efficient evil!).

I really enjoyed the conversation with Rollick and Julen. It was nice to see the boys chatting with each other. Same for Aorle and Thetta (who I would do well to call one of the boys, I think...). That conversation felt so very odd, because as a woman, I couldn't help but relate to some of the things she was saying, but then she went and had a temper tantrum!

Obviously I am loving my own threads quite a lot, so there's no need to go there :P

Julen is probably my favorite character to anticipate. No matter how serious or heart-felt or dire the moment, I can always count on him to ruin it utterly with pure awkward. I enjoy reading him because he is a very believable awkward male with the best intentions. The more I get to know him, the more I want to just ruffle his hair and call him a puppy.

As I won't lie. I haven't read all of the stories. I apologize if that makes ya feel bad. I do try to read most of them. Because sometimes those lil red dots get on my nerves so when i click on all of them to make them go away, I'll read it if it catches my eye.

So the Kudos and Applause from my point of view goes to a story that I find awesome.

Gia and Krev.

I know it's gonna turn into something greater later on when more get involved, but as it stands right now I have to look everytime that thread has a red dot. I love it.

AWESOME!

What a neat idea, Metarie! Thanks for starting this topic.

There are so many stories I enjoy, I hardly know where to begin. Obviously, I love writing with all my thread buddies, and they know it. So I won't belabor that point. (Railtus, Lylessa, Quinn -- you guys rock!)

Although it’s a new thread, I’ve gotten quite hooked by “The Taming of the Shrew”. It’s interesting to see the interaction between three such strong characters. Each of them has their own agenda, and I’m always in suspense, wondering who’s going to gain the upper hand next.

Of course, I love the sprawling Lanya saga. Metarie’s pining for Camulous, matched by Camulous’s total oblivion to said pining, is simultaneously funny and heartbreaking. Everett and Watson totally crack me up. And now that Everett has properly joined the storyline, it’s nice to see some of his humanity begin to peek out from the hardboiled veneer.

Chrishton is probably the character who has grown on me the most since I joined. Despite behaving like a complete ass sometimes, he also shows moments of surprising morality (like his refusal to sleep with Udorl because he was put off by her indifferent attitude toward her unborn child). And his interactions with the spirits that follow him around are hilarious. I really enjoy reading about his adventures with Dorcas.

I can hardly read a post involving Geldenwing without getting a big grin on my face. I love her carefree attitude. While the rest of us are wallowing in our angst, she’s off in the woods making “leaf angels”. What a gal.

I really could mention every story here, but I’m tired, and I have my own posts to write. If I missed you this time, you’ll probably show up later.

I admit I'm incredibly behind on my reading, and I'm working on that slowly, but I wanted to thank Ree and Dev for noticing my poor little werewolf.

I love this idea for a thread and I'll put up my kudos when I get around to all of my reading. I'll start on that tonight...

Two more rounds of applause --

First of all, I really liked Lucian's recent post, where he re-joins the "Hunting Lanya" storyline. It was vivid, and terrible, and totally engrossing. I don't think I even blinked until I reached the end. And now I'm really curious to learn more about that lurking power, and why the guards would release him...

Also, I wanted to give a kudos to Dorcas and the whole seedy population at her shabby little tavern/inn. While I wouldn't exactly want to be best friends with any of them, they come across as very real people, who have attitudes and behaviors that seem very appropriate to their circumstances. They do a nice job of fleshing out the Chrishton/Dorcas storyline, and make it even more of an entertaining read than it would be otherwise.

That inclined me to read Lucian's post, though I haven't been keeping up with the storyline. It was awesome! Good job! Coming back in style, eh? (^_^)

Is thanks a lame thing to say? Well, thanks. It's really encouraging.

I thought it was a great moment in Julen's most recent post when Julen made the illusion of the room filling with blood. It was very dramatic, unexpected (at least for me,) and yet it made perfect sense based on what was going on.

I liked it. *claps*

Also, I am loving Lucian and Lanya's reunion. Very heartfelt and sweet.

I agree with pretty much everyone's kudos so far, so I really can't do anything but repeat. I wanted to say that just about every Dorcas/Chrishton post or interaction gets a laugh from me. I have thoroughly enjoyed that thread.

Lucian.

Wow.

Beautifully written! Now I think I remember why I was so daunted in the first place. The quality of writing here is just amazing. Each of you has so much talent that when I try to express just how impressive and wonderful to read all of this is the words fail me.

Beautiful.

I just wanted to post a short kudos for the way Jenica has been "playing" with the piece of broken glass in her last few posts. Not only is it the sort of vivid detail which really provoke a strong reaction from the reader (OUCH!), but it drives home a certain aspect of the character -- just how accustomed to her own pain she's become, that she would cut her own tongue with a piece of glass, the way that most of us fiddle with a pencil when we're thinking.

Awesome!
