I think we have a miscommunication somewhere.

Quenta seems to think in your post that the first Eyropans to come to Marn simply moved from the historic district to what is today the residential district, but that isn't true. The first Eyropans completely abandoned the fort, as the basilard was saying. It was only later that the descendants came in and built their town around the ruins.

Did Quenta remember to respond telepathically and you just don't want to use italics, or is he actually just talking to the open air? The basilard can't hear him unless Quenta sends thoughts back, so uh yeah.

Quenta is responding vocally and is responding directly to Baz, no different than when Quenta has responded vocally to Baz in the church, which Baz has heard.

Otherwise they haven't had any convos thus far that included Quenta's input.

Also, since there is a connection, I figured there would be some residual link bleed through of Quenta's other thoughts. That might be interesting in a vicarious sort of way. A thought...

Baz can hear, but he can't hear all the way across town. It has a full spectrum of senses, as magical talking weapons usually do in fantasy. (Otherwise they wouldn't be able to percieve their surroundings at all and comment on the situation, I suppose)

He heard in the church because they were near each other. For long range communication, telepathy is needed.

I'm not super clear on what you mean by the bleed through. Do you mean that when Quenta speaks you'd like the basilard to hear the thought that leads to whatever he says?

So, do we want to fast forward now to present day?

So, we've sort of defined how these two operate by this point. Would you rather continue, or call it good and nag the paragon cell to finish revising their characters? ;)

I think now is a good time to nag, though the effectiveness of the nagging is questionable since many key players have been absent of late.
