Nikolaj Romanovich Dveshiniy, Master of Hunt

Post by Katona » Sun Feb 09, 2014 6:21 am

Player Name: Jason

Name: Nikolaj Romanovich Dveshiniy, better known as Kolya
Age: 36
Race: Werewolf (Human)
Height: 5'9" (human), 6'2" (hybrid), 2'10" (wolf)

Physical Description:

Kolya is a mess of dark, almost black, hair that runs in thick, ragged strands down past his broad shoulders; his beard, the same shade and just as thick, is kept trimmed just short of his collarbone. Wide and well-muscled, the active nature of Kolya's life can be seen in his form, the way that he moves and holds himself. He keeps still only when necessary, enjoyed the thrill of running, of physical work, and the joy of being part of a thriving community who share the same passions. Most men who'd lived the same lifestyle would be flecked with the scars of numerous triumphs and failures, but Kolya's werewolf blood has left him relatively unmarked.

His skin, a pale sort of tan and heavily freckled, still seems to show his age, tough and worn as it is, almost more of a hide. The rest of his body lacks as much of the dark pelt many other men of his family seem to achieve in their human form, but he spends much of his time rugged up when not in animal form and tends not to notice. The lack of full body cover has, over time, become such a strange feeling that Kolya feels compelled to wear thick layers of clothing when without his fur.

In his animal form, Kolya is a large but agile grey wolf, his pelt flecked with many shades of white, black and brown. A patch of white spreads across his cheeks and muzzle, extending along the front of his neck almost to his chest. His tail is long and quite bushy. His eyes are a watery green in all forms.

His hybrid form is much the same colour as his animal form, but darker around his head and neck, more similar to his human hair colour. His face extends into a longer jaw, more canine in form, which makes it difficult for him to speak clearly, and he gains more height and muscle. His legs take a form which gives him the ability to run faster, his ears give him better hearing, his nose better scent-tracking, his eyes better vision in low light; none of these are quite as good as in his wolf form, but they are significantly better than any human. His hands and feet extend into claws, which are useful in both hunting and fighting. He retains his bushy tail.

Possessions:

Kolya lives in an old building on the edge of the city, two cramped rooms that serve as bedroom and kitchen/dining/bath. Adjoined is a small shed where he deals with the spoils of his frequent hunting trips. Much of the meat he brings in is sold at the nearby butchers, as he finds no real joy in market work, but he does prepare and store his own meals, as well as what he passes on to his close friends and family.

As part of his work, Kolya owns many tools used in hunting. Often he'll carry one or more knives of varying utility.

Kolya is fond of archery and maintains his own equipment much of the time, although he cannot craft his own equipment. If he plans to hunt in his human form, he'll usually be carrying his favourite recurve bow.

Powers or Strengths:

Transformation – obviously, Kolya can turn into a wolf at will. However, he is also one of the unlucky few who cannot resist the pull of a full moon. Aside from that, his shift is relatively quick and painless. His wolf form allows him all the traits of a canine, which is very useful for hunting, while his hybrid form is very powerful and fast. The hybrid form can cause some pain if kept for half a day or more, and it often seems that animals are more alert to his presence in this form.

Archery – Kolya is a relatively skilled hunter with a bow, a method he picked up because it made for a cleaner kills than hunting in his wolf form. He also finds it fun and relaxing.

Tough - he's not the biggest or the toughest guy in the city, but he can still hold his own in most fights. He can shake off injuries more easily than others, heals fast even for a shifter, and knows how to take care of himself.

Weaknesses:

Silver - the bane of any werewolf, and Nikolaj Romanovich is certainly no exception.

Full moon – when there is a full moon in the sky, day or night, Kolya will transform into his wolf form and remain there until the full moon passes.

Technophobe - certain mechanical inventions introduced to the world more recently, guns in particular, make Kolya uneasy. Electronics in general would bother him, if he ever came across them. Fortunately, in a city like Zhaltev, this doesn't cause a lot of problems. It has given him a slight bias against gnomes.
