Shadows of the Mind
Re: Shadows of the Mind
Apologies, had it in my head you were up next for some reason. So Jerial will post next and we'll go from there, then.
But this is certainly shaping up to be a messy affair. Vanyusha likely won't be concerned about keeping the couple around due to his mental episode, but his goal to avoid a scene has gone right out the window. He and Syr are in a bad position.

I won't be NPCing anyone on this toon as he has no attachments. Fay and Jerial are a couple, so its easier as any time I NPC him it's as a couple movement. Saruna I had to for awhile. Now stop being lazy ;P

Time passes quickly, friend. One day you're 20 with all the hopes of a child, and then you blink and you're 220 years old, bitter and prone to pain. It is a long journey friend, but one that can be traveled within a heart beat.
Re: Shadows of the Mind
What I meant by that was sneaking in a phrase or sentence that would imply that a small time lapse had occurred and that Syr and Van were now outside. But it's whatev

Either way, you're up. Have fun.

Ouch. I feel bad now. ;_;

Re: Shadows of the Mind
I'd like to get Tell involved sometime, so I figured I'd formalize my introduction here. Whenever you can work in a dream-walking mage. I realize I just missed the perfect opporitunity to jump into Kaevad's head, but I thought you guys were going to jump into a new thread or something. D'oh.
Anyways, as long as Tell jumps in at some point. There's no rush or anything, so you don't need to force any developments to introduce Tell. Nav and I had originally reasoned he would threaten Kaevad into building his circle, due to Kaevad's existing nightmares which Tell could easily worsen. If need be, he could also torment Syrathan with the fact that he is a mage. As long as he can coerce someone into building his rune circle and getting him into the plot, he's good to go.
I'd like to get in soon, but as I said, no rush. Quality over speed, after all.
...I hope that all made sense. I was very sleepy when I wrote this.

Makes sense to me
Sorry just kinda magically poofed back from a disappearence via moving
Chances are I can make my next post include Kaevad dozing as he waits for Van and Syr?

Hey guys! This is a friendly reminder to set the date of this thread in the first post of this plot thread and in the actual thread itself!

Re: Shadows of the Mind
Okay! Since this plotline seems to be on life support, I thought I should make a brief update post.
Currently, it seems like we're at a good place to end the current thread and begin elsewhere. Before we start anything, though, I thought it'd be wise if we brainstormed some ideas of where we want things to go from here. I know that Fay is still busy, but Tell has been wanting to join this for a long time now so I thought it'd be good for us to get things rolling again.
Any ideas where to take it from here? I'm thinking maybe a thread where we can introduce Tell before everyone sets out on the journey.
We also need to decide on a date for the Shadows thread, as Kat pointed out above.

Re: Shadows of the Mind
The problem with a thread based around Tell's introduction is that it would probably take place in a dream, which would disinclude Vanyusha, since Vanyusha cannot sleep. In addition, near as I can tell Syrathan has basically no sensical weaknesses Tell could exploit in that dream. Now, instead of using a specific issue, Tell could make a pretty horrific nightmare with a snap of his fingers involving all sorts of mutilation, torture and the like, but a roleplay of that would probably wind up being unneeded: It would contribute little to either character because neither would have their weaknesses appear in any way.
It is for these reasons we might want to consider just making the dream non-specific. Just start a thread with Syrathan waking up and frantically building a rune circle.
The problem with this one is simple: I'm not sure why Syrathan wouldn't just murder Tell outright. Granted, it wouldn't stick because of the puppet system, and it probably wouldn't make Vanyusha happy, but Syrathan's desire to murder magic users he comes across should pose a problem.
Then again, I guess Syrathan's been ignoring/suppressing that easily enough so far, what with teaming up with a shadowy blob of magic and wanting to eat a shifter. I guess we could just keep ignoring that?

Re: Shadows of the Mind
Well, the thing about Syr is he has all these tendencies, but he's so inconsistent and sporadic and whatnot one can't really tell what he's going to do until he does it, though it makes perfect sense to him. It's what makes him ineffective, or inefficient if you will.
Now, in thread, Syr indicated he had a desire to eat Kaevad, but when he would stare at the carcass, it would click and he would freak out.
As for the dreaming, you could make a sequence about the horrific bits of his childhood, potentially warped and made worse. It's really the only thing that gives him genuine fear [shifters are more of an anxiety]. If not, starting with waking up is perfectly fine with me.

Re: Shadows of the Mind
Since Fay seems to be back, I may be able to stick with the original plan and switch back to Kaevad's dreams. They are much more likely to produce weaknesses Tell could reasonably figure out and use to his advantage.
That said Jer, we need to have a talk in chat. There are a few things I think need to be brought to your attention regarding Syrathan's character.

Re: Shadows of the Mind
In addition to what we talked about, Kit...on top of the already-persuasive factor (however unknown to Tell) Syrathan's father brings to the table, Tell could, erm, 'tell', him (heh) that if he builds the rune circle, he would go away. Until then, he would torture Syrathan. Of course, while Syr is awake, nothing can be done, but it might induce a placebo effect, especially with the horrible physical state Syr is in at the moment.
Of course, the only problem is how Tell is going to figure this out. I dunno, we can play around with the idea.

Re: Shadows of the Mind
Further complicating the matter is that Tell cannot lie. Not directly, at least. He can't tell (goddamnit) Syrathan that he'll go away because he has no intention of doing so, and he certainly can't tell him that the rune circle will make him do so.
With the start of the new quarter I might be a little busy but I should be able to swing around in a reasonable amount of time.

Grrr, that's right. Why did you have to make him like that? Hahahaha.
