Lucas found the guard captain entertaining, if only because he seemed to have such a brittle exterior. Scrape it up a little bit and he snapped just like that.

"Next time I won't hold back." Camulous had said. Lucas found it almost too tempting to see what that meant. He wasn't a glutton for punishment but he did appreciate a good fight. He had to stay in practice after all. One never knew when one's skills would be tested again.

Lucas had mounted in a fluid motion, taking his own reigns. It was hard to resist the urge to poke at the guard captain again. Would he actually keep to his word or would he turn the other cheek? So far he seemed terribly thin-skinned.

Urging his horse to keep pace with Camulous he called to him. "We arrest this man and I will buy you and your man Orion Black a drink, Captain. Your choice of where." Money was not much of an issue for Lucas. His family had always done well for themselves and since he had most of what he needed he was fond of carousing when he found the opportunity.

A battlemage asking the captain of the guard to join him to a drink. That was truly something new. Lucas kept making attempts at camaraderie to a degree beyond what's necessary for a simple working relationship. Every single one of the battlemages was unique in his own right, they had so little in common. It was a wonder how they managed to stay organized at all.

Camulous looked back, over his shoulder at Lucas as they rode. He understood the nature of fighting men. They had to be on the same page or everything would fall apart. Sometimes it took a little flexibility and it definitely prohibited the holding of grudges.

"One drink."

He spoke in all seriousness still didn't smile, turning back to watch the road again.
