Wolftear

Post by Wolftear » Fri Apr 10, 2009 11:12 am

Name: Wolftear

Age: 21

Race: Human

Height: 5'11''

Weight:170lbs

Physical Description: Average Height and slightly muscular build, tanned rough skin, deeply weathered from over exposure, adds years beyond the age of the young man he is. Dark wild hair and features, left eye bright green, right eye same but with 'bleed' of red (red veins across the coloured section of eye).

Possessions: Pendant; fine silver, crying wolf tribal design, below image shows outline, black represents solid silver blocks, held together by dull, thin but strong metal threads which keep form of design in place but can only be seen on close inspection. Image

Wolf Pelt; Pelt of long dead Matriarch Wolf, used as head covering or shoulder pelt in better weather, weaved into the strapped leather wraps which he wears. Entire 'suit' forms a set piece which can be used as a full head covering, the rear of the pelt narrows as it progresses into his back in a rough V shape, less pelt, more brown leather bindings as you travel down his back.

Black Oaken Twisted Staff; no magical powers or anything of the sort, used as an aide to walking large distances in the wild over harsh terrain, vines have produced a twisted design from about halfway up.

Low quality Short sword and Black Oaken Short bow ; Wolftear's weapons of choice, short sword is of low quality and is used primarily in clearing thickets or progressing in woodland. Short bow is hand crafted by him and has a similar wolf tribal design to the pendent inlaid in silvered lacquer.

Talon Sharpened claw from the Matriarch Wolf whose pelt he wears.Bound to his right middle finger this improvised weapon is only shown if angered or cornered unexpectadly. This claw is naturally razor sharp and is kept that way by routine care of it, and help lends savagery to his attacks. Rarely used since Wolftear prefers to avoid combat, just like any animal of the woods.

Backpack/personal items and survival tools Contains a leather bound sleeping sack insulated with animal furs, flint, small low quality mortar and pestle and two metal pots used for cooking, knife, papyrus based sheets bound in leather knots a.k.a notepad. Metal scratcher and tar based home made black ink. Red, White, Green and silver lacquer kept in separate bladder-skin pouches.

Powers or Strengths: Trained in use of short range bows, can track the many movements of animals and humanoids in the ground from their foot patterns, has good survival skills in the wild i.e can live off the wild-lands better than an average citizen, has good knowledge of hunting skills and can use them to be stealthy approach prey or marks to get in range of his short bow. Has good instincts which make him reactive and responsive to challenges. Brutal in combat and with little remorse can lead to enemies becoming afraid of the very savage sight of him and deliver more punishing blows due to his lack of hesitation or reservation. Uses a Talon claw attached to his right middle finger when delivering his own aggressive attacks during close range hand to hand combat to add to the severity of his attacks. This is unusual behaviour though as he generally simply avoids conflict where ever possible rather than charging blindly in. A true elusive creature.

Weaknesses: Withdrawn personality, struggles to fit in society due to upbringing, distrustful of people although is learning to engage more in society though it is a constant struggle, has no real wealth or property, has a quick tempered nature which often causes conflicts and gets him in trouble, is plagued by ferocious nightmares which interrupt sleep, making him tired and weary in his travels, when forced to fight, technique is savage and unfocused, martial arts experts could exploit this. Magical users could exploit his suppressed yet savage mind and nature to exert some level of control over him, however, total control would not be possible due to the slightly unstable nature and ferociousness of his mind which arose to the advantage in the first place

History:

The bard in the corner of The Red Chalice spoke suddenly with quiet dignity and reservation, which was a stark departure from his rapturous and over zealous songs and poems of only a few moments ago. The other guests in the inn, few as they were at such a late hour took more notice as the little man's serious persona tightened the atmosphere around him. He spoke

"The tale I tell for you now my good sirs and dames is not one which holds high renown in many lands that I visit. Not that its content is lacking in any such ways, but more that this tale is the story of a man who lived his life in solitude, and naturally, he did not want you to know of him. This man seeks no glory or tales of victory and success, he simply wishes to be left alone.Indeed this story tells of such desire, yet it is when such a man as this is forced into the open, his teeth came to bare.

Thus you might ask yourself fine sir, yes you there sitting there by the fire, how did one such as I discover such a terrible tale?"

A large ale bloated figure stirred near the now dying fire, too intoxicated to respond, a meagre grunt gave his indication of his acknowledgement of the bard.

" And a fine answer that is too my good sir!" He responded with sarcastic enthusiasm

"Well if any able customer in the room wishes to front my hat with green I will proceed with my intriguing tale"

A mild stirring enveloped around the room as peoples head turned in search of a punter. After a few moments a dark figure that had managed to attract very little attention thus far held out an arm. People turned to stare, blatantly. Although the man was enveloped in a dark almost black shroud, his extended arm seemed to draw light further away, in the middle of his dark palm lay two hints of shining green.

"Ah very good, lets continue" shouted the bard as he hurried to grab the money
" A few winters past this, a travelling merchant heading towards Keltaris, came across what appeared to be an abandoned camp, deep in the woods. The merchant had decided to take unusual routes through the thickets to avoid, well, anyone. Anyone who might rob life, limb, or possession. Motivated by greed and searching for further wealth the merchant stumbled upon which at first appeared to be a book.

Upon further study, the merchants eager and hungry eyes opened the leather bindings which wrapped and sealed the item. To his amazement there were no words in this 'book', only sketches. What most of them were of was anyone's guess as far as he was concerned, random yet patterned lines danced on the rough pages, red and greens flowed and silver gleamed. Satisfied, the merchant continued on to his destination.

In the Keltaris markets the strange object passed from dealer to dealer. Each seller proclaimed a story far more adventurous and untrue than the proceeding one. Such travesties continued until the item reached the hand's of a scholar by the name of Kel'Taralaim Dias. This scholar always had a sense for things. Her mother told her it was a gift, however the world she grew up in believed otherwise she would find out.

Upon touching the item all the fakery and mistruthes melted away.Images filled her head.

Images of an abandoned boy.Of an orphan of the wild.A Wild mother being tamed by an innocent.
At first she did not know what all these images meant.

After study and days of deep thought, Kel decided that she would venture out and discover the author of this fascinating collage of images. Using her latent power, she felt the presence of the author grow stronger west of Keltaris. It was evening by the time she reached her destination, a small clearing in the thickets. As she ventured in deeper it came apparent that this place had been long abandoned. Indeed, it seemed as if any presence or trail had been deliberately erased or covered.

Disappointed, Kal turned to leave, when out of the corner of her eye a flash of bright silver crossed her vision from through the deep green leaves and bracken. She wondered if at first she had merely mistaken the reflection of the sun on some wet leaves or bracken. It came again however, this time closer and moved with unrelenting speed.

Kal turned white with fear as she realized she was been hunted, hunted by the wolf. The creatures large silver ears jutted far above its fierce snouted face. Its wild yellow eyes were fixed on her. As it broke free of the thicket and entered the clearing she could only see those terrible eyes.

It was advancing closer now, only seconds away. Soon it would be on her. She could not move, still paralyzed by fear.

Just as the creature reached her, she noticed something was wrong, the way the wolf moved was different to that which she had seen in her books back home. And those eyes, something was wrong with its eyes. Only a few moments ago, those eyes which seemed so intent on her, were now blank. Kal realized that those eyes were dead.

As the creature reached her she saw a new pair of eyes, this time dazzling green, reared up from below.

'Are you one' barked the creature.
'Wha?' Kal stammered
'Are you one!' he roared again
'I'm alone if that's what you mean'

He released his grip on the poor shaking girl. He turned and headed for the clearing.

'Who are you sir?' Kal shouted after him
'The woods call me Wolftear' The man replied before vanishing into the wild."

"Now this man" the bard jested," is one legend which is not a legend, this wild man has no renown and is not seen as a champion. And what's more, he likes it that way, this man avoided the people of this world because he does not see himself as kin. I found this story when I came across Kal's journal on her experience meeting the man known as Wolftear. There are more stories to tell of what she learned and the journey she experienced but those are best for another night when the hour is late, and there is more green gold in my palm.

I like your app, it is very good. I just want to point out that our money is called Bishan or Bishani for multiple. Our monetary system is not based on or backed by gold because unlike with Bishani, gold can be forged much easier.

I would like to ask where it is that he lives. Is it right outside of Keltaris?

yeah I believed I used the term 'green gold' as a sort of common description for bishani, just like we would use the term black gold to describe something like caviare for example, it was just to fit with the bards extravagant overuse of language. He lives right outside of Keltaris only for a while and then moves on, he lives in many places, he has no fixed home , maybe in the future but not at the moment.

well im all done editing my good old wolf

hope u like the new pic, only real change was that pic and the restoration of the old pic.

the talon to help him fight is new, want to use it to add some graphicness to his attacks, make him a little more animal like, rather than just fisticuffs and bow fighting

The talon should be listed in his items, and it should probably be slightly magical, elven made or dwarven made maybe, to make it more believable if you want it to deliver gore the way I think you do.

Well ive added it in under items and also kept in the extra description in strenghts/powers section. I dont want it magical, at least not yet ;)

Thats the general point of my character is that he has no apparent power beyond the physical, and a razor sharp talon would be pretty dangerous if used properly without magic, at least enough for my purposes, more to be used as a plot item if he is ever cornered, he will bear his fangs so to speak, this being the talon, something i can use to help add a little tension and hopefully make him seem a little more brutal and animalistic. I dont want it to rend someone into pieces on touch just yet haha :P
