Power Objects [PROCESSED]

Post by Maeve » Tue Oct 28, 2008 1:51 pm

As far as I know, no one else has done anything similar. As people can see in Maeve's profile, she carries two heavily magical items with her at all times: the charm bracelet, and the amulet. Both of these are power objects. I thought I'd write a quick blurb about these sorts of things and explain them a bit better. Feel free to use the idea!

Power objects are rare magical items, whether jewelry or clothing or even weapons, that were created during the Changers' War. Most of them have been destroyed from either time or battle. Some of them were even unstable and were eventually destoyed by their own power. They vary in strength depending on when they were created; if they were created when the Changers first came about then they are relatively weak, but if they were created during the height of the war they will be expotentially more powerful as the Changers and other mages became more powerful.

Power objects were created for a variety of purposes, but they are almost always geared toward battle, whether by imbuing the wielder with passive effects for defense, or by killing the creatures coming from the astral plane more easily. For example, Maeve's charm bracelet was created for the purpose of negating any and all effects from a succubus so that the wearer would be immune to their charms. Her amulet was created to ward of becoming a vampire, but it didn't actually work; instead, it magically quenched the thirst for blood that vampires have--inadvertently resulting in the death of the Changer who created it when he refused to feed.

In Maeve's case, she sought out the Blood-drop Amulet and stole Scelli's Charm Bracelet from a woman who knew it's powers and therefore knows what they do. However, they could have some unknown effects, and most of the time people don't know what a particular power object does. If found, they should be treated with caution, even by the most magically skilled.
