No apologies needed, but thanks for the heads up.

I do have a preference for the Skippy battle... I want Karsimir's plan to fail. Because it's about time.

Also, I hope you don't mind, my idea only formed the first half so I am going to dump the second half at your feet. :P

Well, I've scoured the board from top to bottom, and the only place I haven't been turned away from, and Aura 'might' fit in, is in the Casualties thread. I may have an idea to bring her in, especially since she really has no place to stay in town, and very little Bishan to put herself up at an inn.

But that all depends on whether Lylessa and Falcon think that Aura might have a place there. I understand there's a flurry of activity at the moment, but since Aura does have some minor abilities as a herbalist, she might be useful.

And on further thought, I just remembered that Lylessa has the ability to heal everyone, so Aura's herbalist abilities are useless. I guess just let me know what you think.

While I do not wish to appear unfriendly, my experience tells me we will not enjoy writing together, which may become a difficulty when we get back from Shim. Of course, casualties is Lyl & Falcon's thread. So if they have a preference otherwise I am willing to work around it, I just forsee difficulties ahead.

Hey, thanks for your interest in our plotline.

The thing is, as you can tell, our plotline isn't composed of just one thread-- and the particular thread Casualties is intended to be a private moment, so I don't really feel we're able to open it up to any additional characters. Rollick, Dash, and to an extent Uluki have just been through a pretty extreme trauma, and they really need to have the opportunity to discuss it with people they know and trust so they can process it.

Basically, it's like if you'd just been through something horrible and were trying to talk it over with your closest friends, it just wouldn't be a good time for a stranger to drop by and join the conversation-- especially if you had to scramble to provide guest accommodations for that stranger.

So while I would not object to new characters joining the overall plotline (assuming the details could be worked out,) I'm going to need to ask that Casualties remain private, as the characters have some really personal and emotional matters to discuss and can't do so in front of a stranger. Sorry!

Change in plan for my post. I figure the idea for the village discovery can wait a little until we start looking for things. :)

Don't worry, I'll insert the idea in easily enough. ;)

If you would like to post again and bring in nurband, and allow me to auto the hell out of him as well, I can be finished with Bela in one more post.

Thought I'd ask this here, too, Karsimir;

Which location in Marn would the vague kind of area of 'Snyde's turf' fall into? Plotwise I need to go there, and I also think it would work for this storyline for each camp to have a kind of home thread. Alternatively, if it would be better to keep it all in one thread that could work too; especially if Downtown or the Ruins is the right location.

Bela: Will do, I'm ill though, so may be tomorrow or such.

Quinn: I have no idea...

Ruins was chosen mostly for river access (which will come up - Snyde is making some use of the river). I always wonder how much the shantytown is Residential District and how much it is Historical Ruins. "Home" threads do seem kind of interesting. I like that thought.

So... Historic Ruins for Snyde's remaining turf.

Thanks! That wasn't necessary, but I appreciate it.

I've started a post -- should have it up this evening, hopefully.

OK, I have a bit of a dilemma here. I'll try to resolve it in the way most convenient for you guys, but I'm not sure what that will entail.

In spite of what just happened, Uluki and Rollick are still at least nominally in charge at the compound. Because of what just happened, the arrival of new refugees during Uluki and Rollick's absence is going to seem way too fortuitous to be coincidence (even though it actually happens not to be related) and is going to trigger a lot more suspicion in my characters than refugees arriving normally would-- because on the surface it kind of looks like they might be in on it, what with the timing. And I'm not sure I can just ignore that fact.

I think it was assumed in your planning that Rollick and Uluki would simply delegate at this point-- which she would be happy to do-- but a major issue this whole hand thing is bringing up is a feeling of uselessness in Rollick now that he's been hurt. Given that taking care of this stuff at the compound and keeping things safe is his job, he would try to force himself to work if he feels there's work to be done, because doing otherwise will seem like admitting to himself that he's pointless. He's really not in any shape to do anything at this point, of course, but that doesn't change what's going on in his head, because this guy is stubborn as hell. I'm honestly not trying to mess things up for you, I'm really not, and I'm sorry my characters aren't acting as was probably expected.

He just... wouldn't. Not when he's fighting to feel useful, and not when he has reason to think these people could pose a serious threat given the timing of when they showed up; it would be wildly out of character for him to just leave other people to handle it, regardless of what a horrible condition he's in.

So I have some options to suggest, and will do what you guys want me to. I am OK with any of the following:

1.) Uluki and Rollick could come back now or soon. In spite of what has just happened, Rollick would attempt to talk to the refugees to make sure they were no threat to the compound. This would fairly quickly either lead to him collapsing or Uluki talking/forcing/coercing him into resting. However, this might be too tangential and distracting from the point of the thread, so it probably isn't practical.

2.) Do a quick post bringing them back, then have the new refugees arrive after Uluki and Rollick return and go upstairs, and no one goes to get them. I'd be totally fine with that-- if they don't know what's going on, they have no need to intervene-- except it would be kind of awkward with Rosemary waiting for them.

3.) Have Rollick pass out at or before they get to the compound. Whisk them off upstairs. Again, fine with this, the issue is again Rosemary waiting, and if she would want to talk to Uluki anyway. But Rosemary could be occupied with the new refugees.

4.) Rosemary could deal with the new arrivals before they get back, and Uluki and Rollick could not find out about them. But this would mean everybody keeping the information from Uluki and Rollick, so people would have to be OK with basically lying to them (for their own good, of course,) because they would ask what happened while they were gone.

5.) Just keep them away from the compound until whatever is going to happen has happened.

Obviously what Uluki and Rollick do isn't that important, and isn't the point. I'm just trying to keep them somewhat in character, but I'll do whatever best suits your plot. I'm really sorry to complicate this, but it does involve my people on some level, and I'm not quite sure what to do. :?

I just wanted to step in and make my own opinion on this clear:

I don't care.

Anything you guys want can happen. If you want to play it as them arriving right after the whole thing happened, that is fine. If that means the three are under a type of house arrest and interrogated for intentions, that is fine. If you want to avoid that entire scenario and say they arrived before/after to avoid Uluki and Rollick altogether, that is fine. If you want to hold off on the entire thing until after Lyl's finished her hand thing, that is fine. If you want Uluki/Rollick stuff to happen off-screen and just remain implied, that's fine.

Notice the trend?

Three refugees have arrived at the compound at an inopportune moment. That's really it. There's no action that is scheduled; they may be there for a while or they may not. That will depend on what happens IC.

The new guy, Ra'Nali, has expressed an interest in joining The Pest storyline. Apparently he was referred to me by Jen.

So, I dunno. I can definitely see how his character would fit. He also said he'd be happy to do npcs. The question is, I guess, do you think this would overcomplicate the pest thing, which is after all kind of a side storyline, as well as obviously the question of somebody completely new joining this mammoth saga, which may have enough people. I'm not sure what the feeling is on that one.
