Kaydee: Everyone's favourite former prostitute, age 16, a.k.a. "The Girl in the White Dress," very sweet.

Dai: Old man, talented at carving, Martha's father. Will generally treat others respectfully but as equals regardless of their station, feeling the wisdom of his years should count for something, and that at his age class distinctions are an unnecessary and petty consideration.

Martha: Employed to help with domestic tasks, widow and mother, healed of disease by Uluki.

Ian: Her son, age 14, a hard worker who is used to providing for his family, Aorle's page.

Sean: Her other son, age 10, friendly and playful, Aorle's page.

Jenny: Former prostitute, has red hair, deeply concerned with protecting her daughter, good at making friends and networking within her social circles.

Bethany: Her daughter, age 5, father unknown, owner of the headless ragdoll Kaydee made.

Becky: Former prostitute, dark hair, arrived in an advanced state of pregnancy and is now a proud but very nervous new mother to a baby girl.

Nina-Uluki: Newborn baby with dark hair and eyes like her mother's, smaller than most babies but healthy, partly named after (but not biologically related to) Lylessa Uluki.

Masha: Former prostitute, slightly heavyset with blond hair, very cheerful.

Louise: Former prostitute, thin and pale, not generally very talkative.

Vernon: Middle-aged man, short-cropped blond hair, very nice teeth. Believes in ghosts and not prone to heroics. Unlikely to cause trouble, but also unlikely to impress with great deeds. Petra's husband.

Petra: His wife. Black hair and blue eyes, very attractive features but has an ugly red scar running down the side of her face. Try to heal it and you will face the wrath. She's not willing to allow the visible token of her experiences to be erased, especially not for the sake of aesthetics. The scar resulted in a failed career attempt as a maid, but she's a hard worker.

Callie: Pretty young woman with curly golden hair. Her late husband was one of Snyde's thugs, and an abusive jerk. Callie has a basic education, unusual for a shanty town dweller, and is fairly well-spoken. Sometimes needs a little coaxing to reveal truths that are less than pleasant, but in a retiring way rather than a dishonest one.

Joy: Her daughter, age 6, short auburn hair and freckles. Recovered from a long period of illness and just beginning to come into her own.

Sorry for totally talking out of turn in a not-really-discussion thread, but I am curious and too impatient to research: What's with all the 'tutes in refuge? And can we rename the shanty town 'Tute Camp?

We pissed off their pimp. And he likes beating them up. And we didn't want that to happen anymore, so they're being protected.

And can we rename the shanty town 'Tute Camp?

No.

Because they aren't in the shanty town anymore; they're with us.
