~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Basics~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Player Name: Ice (Blood Ravenous)
Name: Coinneach (KOIN nyuch), "The River Spirit", "The Ofriyu Mar Spirit", "Ofmar Monster"
Age: 178
Race: Kelpie (Fae Water Horse)
Belongings/Place: Coinneach lives in the Ofriyu Mar, underwater. He has no want for possessions and would even be perfectly content to walk around naked. However, to blend in with the populace of Shim or Marn he needs clothes, which he takes from those he drowns or purchases with their bishani. While in his other forms he stores these clothes in hidden places along the river, in trees or bushes. And yes, when he transforms from a horse or will o the wisp he is naked.
Height:
  • Human: 6'3"
  • Horse: 15 hands
  • Will o' the wisp: 6 inches in diameter
Weight:
  • Human: 185 lbs
  • Horse: 2,000 lbs
  • Will o' the wisp: 3 grams
Appearance:
  • Horse: A quarter horse with a very pure white coat. His mane hangs to the right most of the time and is a shimmering gold. His horsey eyes are yellow and tend to glow, especially during the night. He's very quick-footed and strong, more so than a usual quarter horse his size, but this isn't reflected much by his bulk. He just appears to be a regular, healthy horse other than his glowing eyes and strange aura. He also appears well taken care of whenever he morphs into this form -- unless he is sick. Most of the time Coin will be wet.
  • Human: Coinneach is a pretty man with toned muscles and a lithe frame. His body is hairless, including where a beard would be. Coin has beautiful, straight blonde hair that flows all the way down his back. It parts on the left side, often hanging down the right side of his face when his head is bent. His large eyes appear perfectly human except for their odd hue, a deep goldenrod, surrounded by very long, gold eyelashes. Coinneach's skin is pearly-white, such a pale color that it couldn't be human. He also tends to look soaked in this form.
  • Will o' the wisp: Restricted to damp weather where there's a fog or mist, he will glow bluish-white through the gloom. In this form he will often sink into the water, where he will disappear with a brilliant flash. Otherwise he hovers and appears bigger than he really is because of his glow.
Powers/Strengths: Because he is a water spirit he can breathe and see underwater. He glies through water like an eel, easily going against a strong opposite current. He "is" water, therefore he can call water to him or meld into the river. Within living water his wounds will heal; within an hour for a life-threatening one, and a few minutes for minor scratches. He can travel to the astral plane by using a moving body of water like a lake, river, or ocean as a gateway. Pulling others into this gateway will also transport them to the astral plane. He can also see very well, day or night. Also senses vibrations in water.
Spells: Kelpie spells are merely activated by gestures. He can grant the ability to breathe underwater for some time or to glide swiftly through the water like he does. He also controls the river, making it flood, making it speed up, making it into a wave that can wash ashore, etc. He can even make the river evaporate into a fog, mist, or cloud.
  • Horse: Agile and strong past a normal horse's limit, Coin can do almost anything better than regular horses. He can speak just like a person, too.
  • Human: Coinneach's strength and speed carry over into his human form but not as much as when he's a horse. This is tempered by his increased ability to manipulate water with his natural magic.
  • Will o' the wisp: Because he's basically just a ball of light, Coinneach can't be caught or held and is impossible to maim physically. He also doesn't need to eat or sleep or anything like a living being has to. His major power is the ability to lure with his light people that are lost or confused. He's imperceptible by anything but sight, including magical senses. When entering the river he automatically melds into it with a flash of light. His hate of stagnant water carries over but he can also meld into that, emerging almost at once as a human.
Flaws: He hates unmoving water and will avoid it at all costs. Those being attacked by him have but to cross a large enough stagnant pool of water and he will stay clear. His horse and human forms are "allergic" to iron and steel, being hurt by it gives him something akin to an infection. Touching it with bare skin gives him a bit of pain (thick enough clothes and there's nothing). Being around lots of metal fatigues him, like in a factory building. People with a supernatural sense for evil or magic can sense his true nature when he's a horse or person, making it much harder to trick them. Susceptible to dehydration, even that induced by a spell. Because of this fire or heat harms him much more than normal. In horse and human form he has to eat like every creature does. As a human he eats human food and the same for the horse. Out of his element (in other words away from water) he is much less powerful because he loses most of his spells. He can eventually die from lack of being submerged in water.
  • Horse: By now Coinneach has a reputation that makes citizens wary of him. Outsiders are his usual prey.
  • Human: Not as many people know that he's the kelpie in this form. The only way to tell is to find river plants in his hair. (He isn't as swift or strong as a human.)
  • Will o' the wisp: In wisp form he loses almost all speed and can only hover fairly slowly. It is impossible to go into this form in dry air. He also can't hold the form, even in mist, for more than a few hours at a time. He also loses all his senses except for a general feel for where things are. He can't speak or communicate to others in any way, either. He isn't immune to magic attacks and when harmed will automatically transform into a human or horse (that's because he's close to the astral plane).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Characteristics ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Basic Personality: Like most fae, Coinneach is fickle; not quite malevolent, but mostly a nasty prankster. He could rush you into the water only to let you go without harm, or playfully lure you in and kill you. Consorting with him is like playing with fire and he's completely untrustworthy. That is, until an agreement arises. He sticks to his word no matter what and expects the same. Those that break a contract or promise with him will receive an invitation to ride him to their watery grave, and if they refuse he will assault them or their property.

He can be very generous to those he favors and may lend his superhuman skills for no apparent reason. People that talk to him see him as a silly but polite man, and women know him as a shameless flirt. Coinneach is a good judge of character and will be nastier to those he finds to be a "bad person" and nice to those that are "good." Of course, the definitions for these change constantly.

He takes few things seriously, not even other's lives; he's only concerned by his own survival, if even that. He isn't very sociable, tending towards territorial loneliness, but he will go near the city for play, food, or favors. He will refuse to go deep within the city where there is lots of metal, stagnant water, and fire. Not to mention the guard :)

He also has a fascination with drowning those that breathe air, in the most perverse sense. When he's a horse he feels anger at those that try to tame him or ride him and will usually kill them, or play a nasty trick on them.

History: Kelpies are independent from mothers and fathers once they are born and go on their own to find a place to reside. Births are rare among them, however, because they live so long and there are only so many rivers to own. He had a very hard time finding a river and ended up lurking in other Kelpies' territory. He wasn't powerful enough to defeat the old-timers and it was dangerous. Soon he went on a quest to find a suitable place to live. Hearing of the blossoming city of Marn by the Ofriyu Mar, Coinneach swam here and took up residence after killing the fairly weak kelpie already there.

Upon arriving he found the place to be quite to his liking, having plenty of travelers to drown, and stayed. The leaders, especially Belatucadrus, know about him but choose to ignore him. At the very beginning he agreed to a pact, that if they should need him he would repay their "turning the other cheek" in whatever way they desired. When the Judges of Religion, Cultural and Ethical Enforcement came to be, they, too, agreed to 'cooperate' with him. In the current day, other than the occasional drowned body or a few missing people, he isn't very noticeable to the government. He kills only those that dare get near him or ride him. When he enters the city he usually stays in the Historic or Residential District. In Shim he is wary of the cemetery, but is willing to venture anywhere in the area. Sometimes he will accost farmers or beautiful women.

Note: Coin's a fairly powerful character but I haven't really taken advantage of my old-timer status much. He's also very weak in his own way, like most of my characters. Since he's a totally new character (never been in my mind before!) he has a big area for development and may even end up totally reversing personality-wise. Just something to note. I also hope I included everything (@_@)
