Summary: Iolan is new to the bounty-hunting group (that does not yet have a name). He has been sent to meet Ysoria on the border to go investigate a new quarry in Umora as something of a test. The group has previously avoided this bounty due to a lack of information, but after local forces have stumbled over the intentions of the bounty, the group has decided to start tracking them down and gathering preliminary data.
Meat of the plot: A series of death in Umora, a northern city-state of Apthoni, has come to the attention of the provincial government. All victims were registered, stable mages who, quite publicly, went insane before destroying themselves and all around them. The Eyropan position on mages makes this a delicate subject and given ongoing tensions between the Umoran dwarves and surrounding human provinces, Apthoni's senate does not want to intervene directly and has posted the investigation out to bounty hunters. Fresh from escorting a trade caravan through the northern passes, Ysoria and Iolan catch wind of the bounty offer and see the chance for some easy coin.
Other Notes:
Smugglers/forgers - they're headed north. Goal is to catch them in Spinakh before they take an airship further north.

Bounty Hunting Group
Iolan
Ysoria
Diota (npc)
Hans - m - species - gimmick - (npc) the dude whose fault everything always is - he totally says he does things but never does them
Hanuel (former member, now in Marn)
Gear - gnome communication device used to call Hans once a day, maybe, if you value your fingers.
Start off with just Iolan and Ysoria looking for the target, rest of group off doing something else. Iolan is new so it's sorta a test sorta thing. Start with Apthoni with them locating their target. Go to Teutonia to get the rest of the group and Hans has screwed them over again.
Smuggling/forging? Mind-warping drugs that gives the user intense powers for a bit and then implodes. Local authorities can't take care of it due to mobility/stuff. So a bounty was put out on this due to the fact that their resources are already committed elsewhere -- they can't handle it.
Start off in a city in Apthoni
Something they hadn't gone after before because there wasn't enough information, but due to a windfall they now have enough to move and are trying to go after it before anyone else gets on it.

Possible Group Names: The Reds, The Sisters (having generally referred to Ysoria and Diota), Red Wind, Red Wind, The Pathfinders, Pathfinder Inc, Witchbane Tracking Company, The Witchbane Mage Location Agency, The Witchbane Pathfinder Company, Generic We Is Good Hunters Name, We Hunt Mages Eyropa Ok Number One, Cyclops Scouting Inc, Cacciatore Inc, The Kriegvogel Tracking Company.
Potential Thread Names: Baning Day, She'll Be Ysor Tomorrow, Blight and Magic.
Possible Background: The Kriegvogel Tracking Company is a diversified mercenary outfit based in Teutonia that handles not just bounty hunting but security for merchant caravans and guilds, as well as scouting out roads and passes for the wealthy/local governments under contract throughout central Eyropa. Ysoria is looking to start her own company with Diota and the bounty would give them enough money to get started. This isn't above board so they're trying to investigate under the radar while fulfilling other jobs.
Will post more as ideas come to me.

Let's go with your last plot idea -- that fits everything in nicely. Thread is up!

Awesome. I have a few more ideas to flesh it out.

I'll get to typing like the good monkey I am.

I vote for either skipping the trip or having one or two scenes from mid-trip for character building / character interaction purposes.

I see. Well, I'm game for either option, though given where you left off, I'd say that some character development could work.

After Iolan's reaction and the end to this scene, wanna skip to a few days down the line on the day their caravan gets attacked?

Sure. What did you have in mind?

I remember we talked something about an ambush or summat so Iolan can show he's capable/useful and Ysoria can back off her high horse a little bit. That sound ok?

Sounds good to me. We could have something happen during the night if you wanted to skip right to it too. Otherwise, an ambush sounds good. Any estimate on numbers or shall we wing it?

Wing it!
I wasn't sure if having it happen right that night would be too much/cheesy? What do you think?

Hmmm, six of one really. Depends on the bandits. Night raid implies planning, which means either we're escorting something valuable or they think we're someone else. That could work.
Daylight means more standard robbers, probably a barricade in the road or a trap. We'd likely not see it until it hits us though, since we're at the back of the caravan, so we can run with that or invent a reason to be nearer the front.

Hello.
So I like the general direction that you guys thread is going in, and I was hoping to be allowed to join in with a (pending) character of mine.
So the idea is that the dwarves are transporting my character Deer. He's an oddity, an exquisite construct inhabited by an astral spirit. Perhaps you guys are attacked in an attempt to steal him, you discover him and decide you would profit more from selling him.
Thoughts?
Edit: 07/17/15
He's been accepted.
