Province to the north of Eyropa. Main city Zhaltev in the north, sky-pirate-cloud-city in the south.

More to come! (thread so's I don't forget)

(18:59:26) (semiafk Saruna): Tov I was wondering, re:ciasse if you would mind putting in that the borders are under fairly regular attack from tribes of whatever in the mountains to the east. The province would be a little more military focused then the rest, and maybe it would provide a sort of way for zhaltev to fit into the larger scheme of things; they could send shifters to fight on the border skirmishes maybe for a couple years or whatever in return for a sort of independence. The goal of the governor could be sort of keeping independence because they want to take care of the border issues without imperial interference (no one wants the imperial guard in their borders)
(19:00:02) (semiafk Saruna): and then that way people who want their characters to be soldiers or mercs could be sent to the border shits. It wouldn't be a war, just a lot of cities trading hands every few decades and shit like that

Notes for the future. Develop this. Also do things with this province, you lazy butt.

(19:26:38) Ximeno: Alright, so are we agreeing on a Ukranian-style Ciasse with a Veche style of governance reporting to the Imperial Consul?
(19:26:59) Nadejda: yes

Notes from a world dev session in Chat

----------
(11:22:25) Nadejda: Think Ukrainian
(11:22:32) Nadejda: like Russia, but warmer
(11:22:39) Ximeno: Or we can go deeper and look at the more complex hierarchical structure from a ukrainian period of time
(11:23:23) Ximeno: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kievan_Rus%27
(11:24:05) Nadejda: yeah
(11:24:10) Ximeno: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veche
(11:24:40) Nadejda: more yeah
(11:25:10) Ximeno: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boyar
(11:25:26) Ximeno: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novgorod_veche
(11:25:45) Nadejda: *claps* yay James doing all the research for me
(11:26:38) Ximeno: Alright, so are we agreeing on a Ukranian-style Ciasse with a Veche style of governance reporting to the Imperial Consul?
(11:26:59) Nadejda: yes
(11:27:04) Nadejda: Boyar as leader
(11:27:26) Ximeno: Cool. So each city ruled by a Boyar?
(11:28:12) Nadejda: yeah, with the exception of Zhaltev
(11:28:40) Nadejda: they would stay out of most of the official business as long as they get left alone
(11:28:58) Ximeno: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tysyatsky - in charge of the militia keeping a wary eye on Zhaltev I assume
(11:29:31) (homeworky_kat): tagi is totally going to wear one of those tall black furry hats and then not understand why people keep glaring at her.
(11:29:55) Nadejda: yeah, though I imagine they would have more of a permanent army than a volunteer one
(11:30:08) Nadejda: it would be less glaring and more attacking
(11:30:55) Nadejda: I'm just thinking something slightly more permanent than a volunteer one
(11:31:01) Nadejda: especially for the eastern borders

(11:31:04) (homeworky_kat): ciasse is a border town and I got it approved for there to be lots of border action on the east border !
(11:31:28) (homeworky_kat): holding out for military rp one day :<
(11:31:47) Ximeno: You and Simon both. I'd be in on it too
(11:31:54) (homeworky_kat): and some holes in the eastern mountains who tend to try to raid into ciasse

(11:32:03) Nadejda: so I imagine that Ciasse is very warlike because of the permanent eastern front and then also the weird feral people who sometimes go crazy

(11:33:43) (homeworky_kat): you want any social behavioral differences between then and now? in terms of how people acted, social stratification, gender division, popular bigotry etc
(11:33:51) (homeworky_kat): since the thread is 40 years ago

(11:36:52) Nadejda: probably not too much. The city is fairly stagnant as long as the boat isn't rocked too much. It would be a different syordan though, cause that changes fairly frequently and the current one has only been in her position for the past 2 years

(11:37:38) Ximeno: In regards to Ciasse, not Zhaltev
(11:38:17) Nadejda: oh. Probably not?
(11:39:07) Nadejda: I mean, since there's a constant threat from the outside that lends itself to a more consistently stable society in order to fight that threat

---more related to the RP in question, but still with some useful information re possible Ciasse world dev---

(11:42:12) Ximeno: Did you want to have a character in the RP?
(11:42:16) (homeworky_kat): yes, thank you!
(11:42:47) Nadejda: hmm, possibly. What would you be in need of?
(11:42:54) Ximeno: Pros: You get to make a character and RP
Cons: You get nagged to post a LOT
(11:43:07) (homeworky_kat): anyone in a position of authority
(11:43:10) Nadejda: well, good, I need to write more
(11:43:16) Nadejda: and when I get nagged I tend to do it
(11:43:20) (homeworky_kat): so like tagi and sertor's new immediate boss
(11:43:24) (homeworky_kat): someone from the provincial govt
(11:43:29) Ximeno: A Boyar or the leader of the militia for example
(11:43:34) (homeworky_kat): someone important from the shifter community
(11:43:41) (homeworky_kat): a merchant bigman
(11:43:56) (homeworky_kat): or, if that's not your style, another merc
(11:44:14) (homeworky_kat): or a resistance fighter once things go to shit
(11:44:15) Nadejda: merc is probably not my style
(11:44:19) (homeworky_kat): we could start in media res again
(11:44:41) Ximeno: Remember: we're going to end up in vicious street-to-street warfare, so it's going to be an action-heavy thread
(11:45:02) Ximeno: Fiiiiighting. Lots of fighting
(11:45:05) Nadejda: I did have an idea for a coyote shifter who is less than satisfied with the status quo in the city; i.e., he's tired of getting kicked around by the werewolves
(11:45:12) (homeworky_kat): eugh, nanjing packet flashbacks ><
(11:45:30) Ximeno: Stop saying the N word
(11:45:42) Nadejda: or really any critter would be tired of getting kicked around by the werewolves
(11:45:42) (homeworky_kat): :(
(11:46:44) (homeworky_kat): could be another faction type thing, after things go to shit, approach the province side authority and be like 'you scratch our backs, we help you lock this city down'
(11:46:54) (homeworky_kat): as far as critter rights go, or whatever
(11:47:04) Ximeno: So, the setting will be a small Ciasse city attacked by shifters after negotiations went foul, yes?
(11:47:09) Nadejda: I think I like that
(11:47:11) (homeworky_kat): or like forming asylum for them in another town?
(11:47:55) Ximeno: Yeah, having a non-wolf shifter faction located in Ciasse would be a cool twist on the setting
(11:48:11) Nadejda: yeah
(11:48:11) (homeworky_kat): scrabbling for scraps of power
(11:48:22) (homeworky_kat): and for people to take them seriously
(11:48:31) Nadejda: shifters who want more peace than Zhaltev has to offer and absolutely hates the werewolf supremacy that goes on there
(11:48:52) (homeworky_kat): even if we say they got major recognition after this thread, in 40 years they could have lost it all again, or most of it
(11:49:07) (homeworky_kat): as leadership changed and new policies encroached on their rights
(11:49:10) Nadejda: they want to be seen as rational human beings who can happen to turn into animals rather than the beasts in the big city
(11:49:11) (homeworky_kat): ala native americans
(11:49:14) Ximeno: Or they could be a permanent addition to Ciasse
(11:49:28) Ximeno: Because Ciasse is separate to Zhaltev
(11:49:29) (homeworky_kat): I mean in case she wanted to do some civil rights threads present day
(11:49:49) Ximeno: And I mean in case she wants them to remain in present day ;)
(11:49:50) (homeworky_kat): yeah, but I mean I imagine they're fighting on two fronts: rights for those in zhaltev, and rights in ciasse
(11:50:11) Nadejda: yeah, there's certainly enough distance between the official government and Zhaltev itself to make that feasible
(11:50:30) (homeworky_kat): this is gonna be fun though :)
(11:50:37) Nadejda: yayyyyy
(11:50:41) Ximeno: But we can worry about the long-term ramifications after the RP =D
(11:50:45) Ximeno: Yeah
(11:50:46) (homeworky_kat): start way ahead of the action, just before the action, or in the action?
(11:51:34) Ximeno: Hmm. I am fond of In Media Res, then the flashback to before it went to hell. Might as well make it a Tagi&Sertor episodic formula, right? =p
(11:51:50) Frug: brb
(11:52:07) Nadejda: where/when should my disgruntled shifter join you?
(11:52:19) Nadejda: just plotting and stuff
(11:52:22) Ximeno: Immediately. Because we are starting in the middle of the fighting
(11:52:42) Nadejda: mkay
(11:52:46) (homeworky_kat): yeah, and then when we flashback we can explore how your character reaches that point where they approach
(11:52:52) Ximeno: But let's say the shifter joins when the Zhaltevites attack, recognising Sertor and Tagi as useful allies
(11:52:59) (homeworky_kat): and depending on how you want to do that, we can always npc for you, too
(11:53:01) Nadejda: okay cool
(11:53:22) Ximeno: What shall we name the city where the shit goes down?
(11:53:33) (homeworky_kat): can I start with someone getting assassinated as they exit a building after a talk?
(11:56:16) Nadejda: Khrivne
(11:56:58) Nadejda: (khreev-nee)
(11:57:08) Nadejda: as the pronounciation
