Summary:

Sarita de Morua Riestra is the Spymistress of Morua, and Diego de Morua is one of her best assassins. However, something has been taken from her by deceitful means, and she means to get it back no matter what. Costanca de Morua Riestra is Sarita's sister, heir to titles that she has only recently grown ready to take. With an opportunity before her to expose the machinations of her fellow nobles at court and aid her sister in reclaiming what is rightfully hers, Costanca must step up to the plate and succeed in convincing the Duke of Morua, their father Pascual, that the matter at hand is not so simple as it first appears.

The Guiate family, who had married into the de Morua family two generations back by means of Costanca and Sarita's mother, had fallen out of favor. Their recent prosperity, coupled with Solana's exile after being framed for passing privileged trade information to a Bellezan spy, has lead the young women to suspect the family to be the orchestrator of the mess. It is up to Diego to uncover the truth.

Should Diego be successful, and should Costanca and Sarita be able to convince Pascual, Diego will be tasked with one of his most dangerous missions yet: go south, into the hot and humid province of southernmost Eyropa and find Solana Beraza de Morua, recently sold as slave. He must reclaim her for his Spymistress without alerting or angering Solana's owners and causing havoc between the provinces, or else he might find his own life and position within Morua uncertain.

Other Notes: WHAT SAY YOU, JAMES?! should we set it in their home city? I'll come up with a name and stuff if so (or if you have one handy, name it!).

What can I say, señorita? What must be done for House Morua must be done, and who better to do it than Salvador's successor.

Let the intrigues begin!

It would be a great honour if you would accept my presence among your magnificent circle.

That being said I'm not to picky so if you have people who you need or want to help move the story along then I'm more then welcome to ideas, although I prefer female characters. I believe I shouldn't have any issues with keeping on top of things since I'm already on here for half my days anyways :D

Okidokes, so here's the sides as I see them you might slip into:

de Morua against Costanca and Sarita.

de Morua with Costanca and Sarita.

Neutral de Morua or other family woven in for reasons not having to do (or at least not outwardly) to the situation with Solana and Belleza.

Guiate.

Spy or assassin under Diego's command.

Servant or some other advisor to de Morua w/against Costanca, w/against Guiate.

ugh. a note in case I forget later: keep referring to solana as a handmaiden when she should be titled as a lady-in-waiting. Hurp. Hurphurpdurp.

I decided to add another shot of intra-family intrigue and back-history with an old feud between Guiomar and Beatriz. (In my head, Beatriz poisoned Guiomar so that she could not have children, and was responsible for at least one of Guiomar's suitor's untimely accidents. And Guiomar managed to orchestrate Beatriz' death - all of that is just an idea though. Let me know what you think!)

If anything in my post conflicts with any backstory you have for Guiomar thus far, please let me know and I can change the post :)

Also, please let me know if any of the dialogue seems too far afield from how you imagine her. I might be pushing the envelope with regards to just how bluntly outspoken she is in my post, but I figured after her speculation to Costanca regarding Sarita and Diego having an affair, she seemed like the kind of cantankerous old lady who would happily call Diego a bastard to his face (and more. Woof woof.) =p

I'd planned on her having children, as she's not the type of woman to insult someone over a failure she shares. Still, perhaps there could be something wrong with her heir, or maybe she only has one left after some sort of bloody coup within the family business. The rest of it was spot on -- she's the type of woman to be insulting behind the guise of worried and feeble old woman, though only around family she feels she has some sort of sway or power over. In public she'd be more proper and more discreet with what insults she does choose to leave lying around.

I took a risk. Let me know if it doesn't fit and I'll come up with an alternative!

I've taken a little gamble by naming and describing Sarita's cook, and a lesser gamble by naming one of the kitchen girls.

If any part of that doesn't fit what you have noted for the Morveres estate, please let me know and I shall amend my post :)

I've left the Morveres estate entirely blank, so free to develop at will!

another layer to the pie!

The breakdown:

The former duke's family was Fernandez (duke), Beatriz (Diego's mom), and Mateo.

Guiomar's sister is Fernandez's wife.

Mateo had a single child, a daughter named Julia (who is the same generation of Diego, and his cousin). Because of this, Guiomar was able to maneuver her son into inheriting Beatriz's major estates that were not tied to the main family's children (like Morveres).

However, Julia and her husband Bertran have had a son (currently aged 16). They are now seeking to take the two estates Guiomar's son holds, as Ignacio is still unmarried (or widowed) and without a child.

Complicating the matter is that Julia's branch of the de Morua family are friendly with the Lumbroso and Camora families (Bertran, himself, is a descendent of several Lumbroso women). Guiomar's branch is friendly with the Vbeda family. The Lumbroso and Vbeda families are enemies that started with vendetta but turned into a feud several generations back. It also doesn't hurt that Julia's son (unnamed) is full de Morua de Morua, while Guiomar's sons are Vbeda de Morua, which puts them in the Vbeda family's control rather than de Morua. Julia and her husband are essentially seeking to use a legal slip to put their kid in there (now that they have a son it should go back into the de Morua family, not Vbeda).

Clear as mud?
