Player Name: Acacia
Name: Acacia
Pronunciation: Ah-Kay-Shah
Age: Acacia is sixteen in appearance but her actual age, though not carefully observed, is around fifty years. Despite her age, Acacia can be quite ignorant and her powers, due to her own inattention, have not reached its full potential.
Race: Fairy/Human:
Magical Capabilities and Training: Acacia is the possessor of all basic forms of magic – like pushing objects short distances, lifting things and movement spells. She cannot, however use any other forms of other, more complex magic – such as mind reading, influencing, invisibility and the like. Due to her use of magic in the kinetic fields, her movement is heightened so that she is more dexterous than if she had no magical capabilities. Acacia went to no length to learn the magic - ie. she did not get taught, it was all instinctual, something she was able to work up to throughout her earlier years. As a result, her knowing magic, kept a secret from her mother, was never discovered by the strict law enforcers. (please see history for more detail)
In saying that she is without the ability to use magic beyond a very simple level, it does not mean she has the potential to learn. However, due to her own laziness and dislike of being told what to do, Acacia dislikes instruction and if given the opportunity to learn, she would prefer to go without the power all together than suffer through grueling training and learning. This could be considered strange – considering her brightness in intelligence, it would be assumed that she likes being schooled. This, on the contrary, is in correct – due to her strange perception on things, her answers, by the textbook are generally perceived as wrong.
So, over all, Acacia has the potential to use greater magic, but is content with her own basic level so far.
Elaborated:
1. Push: she can push small objects to about head size short distances
2. Lift: She can lift these same items off the ground and have them levitate.
3. Pull: She can pull items from far away towards her, or an onbject of her choice.
4. Twist: She can focus on an object and twist it, but only soft, malleable items.
5. Throw: After lifting an item, she can throw it
Any other movements.
When she uses this magic, like in many books, it takes the same toll out of her energy as if she had actually performed the feat. For instance, she could lift a massive boulder - but then she would not have the strength to keep it afloat, thus, she would be crushed. Therefore, she only does mnor things - like twitching a lock so she can thieve more efficiently etc.
Height: She has a slight slouch – never reaching her full height though if measured at full height she reaches 4 foot 10 inches.
Weight: Considering the time period, she is uncertain of her weight, though assumes it to between forty and fifty kilograms.
Physical Description: Acacia is short for her age, measuring four foot ten inches, and this fact is only accentuated by the slouch she seems to constantly carry on her shoulders. Her eyes are downcast, her thin mouth curved into a snide sneer – as she mocks those around her for various acts of idiocy. A shaggy head of raven-black, silky hair falls in her face, the tips of her unkempt hair reaching a centimetre or so above her small, diminutive shoulders. Acacia’s eyebrows are long, and seem to be forever furrowed, creasing in the middle slightly.
She has pale skin, so pale people who see her wonder if she has ever seen the light outside before. It is in stark contrast with her thick, black hair, which makes her look constantly ill, suffering from a fever perhaps? Her nose is thin, like all of her face – her cheeks hollowed out in a weariness that should not have been there at her age. Acacia holds two large, icy blue eyes that are always narrowing or half-lidded, rimmed with thick black lashes, she could be considered beautiful… but for her glower and her slight subtleties in appearance that differ from that of a human. Beneath her hair, her ears are pointed ever so slightly – not so much as even a half elf - but more so than usual, enough to comment on.
Acacia has longer limbs than normal – but it is not immediately noticeable. Her fingers stretch longer than her palms do. Over all, Acacia is willowy and very thin, her body is lithe and nimble – quick and always on her toes, ready for an attempted attack, or perhaps ready to dance. She has a dancers build, yet her demeanour, her posture and her expression suggest that she will never feel it necessary to lower herself by such a display of emotions.
Clothing: She wears a simple dark crimson red, sleeveless dress. A bow ties around to her back, making her look quite childlike from behind. The dress has a front of three silver gleaming buttons, though they serve no purpose – merely for decoration. The hem of her dress is waved, not a straight line, which allows for the impression of false movement.
Se wears a thin brown leather belt around her hips, where hang her weapons (see possessions for more details).
Not one for adornment, she prefers to remain as light as possible so she can move around easily, therefore she wears no shoes, her feet are scabbed and cut with their use, and has no jewellery or other pure cosmetic items.
She wears a heavy woollen cloak of deep purple-blue over her shoulders – which could be a cause of her slumped posture – it reaches only half length, stopping a her elbows. The cloak is fastened at the front by one large, almost comical brass button. It looks like it has seen better days – some parks are frayed and thinning, it’s a wonder she still wears it especially considering her dislike to heavy possessions.
Possessions: In answer to the question above, Acacia wears the cloak, despite it’s somewhat ragged and worn out state as an outward sign of an inner turmoil – discussed in more detail in the history section, it is the last possession of her mother and family, who are now as far as she knows dead. Acacia can use this cloak as a blanket if need be.
Apart from that, she also carries with her two weapons – a little, needle sharp dagger, which has no power whatsoever, and is conveniently placed in its own leather sheath hanging from her belt with a piece of knotted string, it and its larger counterpart knock against her thighs when she runs. The little is quite unornamented – it has a thin twisted wire hilt with black fabric covered around it tightly for comfort, and the pommel is a simple circle with an embossing of another circle within it.
Her other weapon is a curious short sword, curved almost to the point of a cutlass – it is shorter than regulation (ie. shorter than what a normal short sword would be, having been made customly for her mother - who has her small height and build.), so much so from afar it could almost be mistaken as a dagger. The hilt, made of a silver-mix is wrapped in brown fabric, and the pommel, unlike most swords, continues to form a partially open bud shape, with an ornamental decoration depicting leaves and spiralling vines. Inside of the pommel sits a non-perfectly cut ruby, which glistens a dark, blood red. The guard points out down the length of the blade instead of going perpendicular like stock swords.
Acacia carries two other things, which though serve no use to anyone in the sense of battle or fighting, she amuses herself with when bored. They are: A loose length of string, which she twines around her belt when not in use. With this, Acacia forms a cats cradle, and occupies both her hands and mind when using it – though she is quite proficient at it, being able to look away and converse while continuing. The last is a simple wooden flute, carved painstakingly by hand, it plays a soft, almost inaudible tune, Acacia – though not otherwise musically gifted – can play many song with this, strange indeed as it only has two holes for changing the note. When she isn’t using it, she tucks it away in the pocket on the side of her dress.
Powers or Strengths: Acacia is a strong-willed individual who is very stubborn and extremely opinionated – all three of which could be taken, considering the situation as both a pro and a con. Aside from these three main traits, Acacia has a very sharp mind and creative flair. She sees things in new light, and opens new ideas – when musing or in reverie, Acacia has the habit of putting her long finger on her bottom lip and tilting her head to one side like an owl. Despite her flaws, when Acacia gains the trust of someone – which is very difficult indeed – she is a fierce and loyal friend, though not fun to b around, she would be more than willing to lay her life down for someone else or what she believed is important. She has strong values and beliefs, and she would never do something she did not personally believe was right.
Physically, she is quick on her feet, and has a surprising strength in hand-to-hand combat, being fast enough to doge most attacks, she gets in quick for a knock out punch or spinning back kick, which she has taught herself through necessity during her life (see history for more detail).
Weaknesses: Unfortunately, Acacia has more flaws than she does strengths – and many of these flaws, if given her attention would be capable of being reversed. However, one of her flaws is the inability to listen to judgement and others opinions – she is aloof, conceited and very bitter. She has an odd, morbid sense of humour, which usually ensues at other expense. Acacia dislikes people – despite the fact that she shows potential leader qualities; she has no desire whatsoever to help – let alone lead – others.
With a sneer and a narrowing of eyes, she is an unpleasant person, and she finds it very hard to trust people, often seeking merely to manipulate and influence instead of befriend. As a result, Acacia does not have many friends.
Physically, despite her speed, she is small – and not very strong, being easily over powered. If she gets in a corner, and cannot escape she does not really have anything to back herself up with. She is not very good with the sword, having never trained with one, she relies on her own taught skills far to often and knows she stands no chance against a trained fighter – unless running is a form of victory.
History:
Introduction:
Acacia lived in the town of Shim, in Thar Shaddin.
As a half fairy, half human, Acacia is spritely and has always been small for her age. Having never known her father, she grew up with her human mother – who worked the simple life of a seamstress for the small, unremarkable and somewhat boring town they reside in. For some strange reason, perhaps a flaw in her character, she always acted aout of character - after all, she was a humble seamistress' daughter, what right did she have to scorn others?
Childhood: She grew up as the quiet, unobtrusive little daughter of Deirdre, her mother. She seemed quite unremarkable – she went about delivering the finished clothing for her mother, or playing with a piece of loose string, which she gradually formed into a cats cradle. Acacia discovered her own limited ability at being able to control certain objects through the use of her mind. Having the ability in the first place arosed from her own introverted self - her mind was constantly active, and she was extremely creative. Perhaps this suggests that she gained her power from her unknown father, who as a fairy was a possessor of a sort of magic. Either way, throughout her life, she was carefuly to keep this dangerous talent of hers hidden from all - her mother, and especially those who enforced the no magic law. However, she was always questioning as why magic had been outlawed, especially since those used it could not help to possess the ability.
Acacia was a withdrawn child, she disliked, and was rude to the other children her age – telling her mother, who was perhaps the only one she talked to at all – how noisy, rude, and stupid the ruffians were. Making herself clear, when she was outside, enjoying the sun and generally having a pleasant time, they came up to her – having heard from various sources that she openly expressed her bad opinion of them. Without much to do in the town, where everybody knew everyone else’s business, reputation was held highly.
Trying to intimidate her by sticking their ugly mugs in her face and yelling, they soon discovered that though Acacia was supposed to be a small, shy little girl – the perfect target for a bully of seven years old – she had a painful roundhouse kick and a very sharp tongue.
From that day on, she was at war with the kids from the town – they pelted stones at the windows and ambushed her while going about her chores, she retaliated by beating them to pulps and using the little magic she had picked up, sending the stones straight back.
This existence did not last, however. One afternoon Acacia came home to find her mother dead. Unbeknownst to the cause of dead, (Deirdre suffered from an aneurism, a blood clot in her brain.) she was forced to take to the streets, having no other relatives to take her in to their homes. Due to her dislike for the children on the streets, however, she soon found she had to move on – being tormented more than ever and not having the safety of a home to turn to when in need.
Adolescence/Recent Years: Acacia moved to another town, where due to lack of finances and security, she was forced to take up a life of crime.
Acacia had taken to the streets, doing as she could to earn a decent living – unfortunately that included stealing and in some cases, killing. She grew quickly to learn that in order to survive, she had to do things, which her mother had taught her were wrong. But a hungry little girl is quick to disregard old memories. Acacia was quick and lithe, and this proved a very good thing on the streets – locals soon named her a pickpocket, and her name was spread around the village she was living in.
With a sigh, Acacia left her old home behind, all her resources extinguished, she set about to the main city, which she heard was a great opportunity for those in her trade, and the home of many an unpleasant thing.
Determined to earn respect for herself and gain dignity again somehow, she promised she would start a fresh – but she knew that in such a place, she would have to keep her small magical power at bay in order to go around without suspicion.
Presently: Acacia is on the streets, seeking the secure home of a stable income. She may soon et involved in larger crime, though her almost regal air will prevent her from doing anything atrocious, we should hope. She is in the city of Marn, and has grown up in Thar Shaddin.
