The Imperial Government

So I kinda pulled this out of the air in the chat yesterday, and Frug, as I remember, seemed to generally approve of it, so I'm putting the ideas down here so others can see and comment (and so I won't forget it.)

The Imperial Government of the West

Imperial Senate-Each state within the Empire submits delegates to represent them within the Imperial Senate. The amount of delegates they send is based on their population. The appointees serve a term determined by the individual state (So some may serve longer terms than others) The Imperial Senate has various duties, which includes appointing one of its own number to be Emperor, appointing judges to the Imperial Court, organizing into Councils to deal with relations and trade with other Empires, and passing the occasinal Empire-wide law. It also holds the ability to declare war and can, if three fourths of its members vote for it, impeach the Emperor.

Imperial Court-The thirteen judges on the Imperial Court serve the purpose of settling disputes between different states within the Empire, ruling to make sure the laws of various states are consistent with Imperial Law, and ruling on the reach of the legal powers of the Imperial Senate and the Emperor.

Emperor-Once appointed, serves a term of twenty years. The Emperor has executive command of the Imperial army, and limited ability to declare war himself (he can unilaterally declare war, but relies on the Imperial Senate to provide funding.) He also has limited legislative powers in that he can create law by Imperial decree, but if more than half the Senate votes against the law, it is abolished. He also has the power to dissolve the Imperial Senate, if the Imperial Court rules that this is not an abuse of his power.

That's about it, for now. Further expansion includes the Imperial City (seat of power of the Empire) and the Imperial Military. Whatcha think?

When you say West, do you mean the North American continent (Ayana)?

No, he means Eyropa.

I have a few concepts about Ayana and Tzalzochitl that I would like to write about, so I'd rather people didn't touch those areas yet.

Ok, I thought it was Eyropa but I wasn't sure.

I'm curious to learn about the other continents too... Not that Thar Shaddin might get anyone from so far away. You never know tho!

Oh it could. Tzalzochitl especially is ripe with ideas for crazy characters.
