Papa!

One other thing to consider...might all this chaos make a good framework for the ambush?

Pouring rain, mud, Kitan dazed, Alex injured, Lurus' loyalty in question...and now we get attacked.

This really gives Clarisse an in, since no one's in much state to fight, currently.

This would be sort of a tense, short, flurry of action sort of thing. It would be highly stressful, over pretty quick, and Clarisse would be in with the group for her aid.

It would be heroic for Alex to fight as long as he could, until too weak from blood loss, he falls. I'm not entirely sure how we'd transport him back, though. And, he'd really need magical healing in Marn, to be back in action anytime soon.

Otherwise, ambush after we get him tended and stitched up.

Alright. When it comes to my post, I could have Kitan assume it was his next delusion, just to add even more confusion. ;) Unless Clarrise wants to see it first?

And what kind of monster are we going for here? Right now I've got in my head some sort of shadowy, spectral creature. That way its attacks might cause a chill where it touches, but it would be featherweighted and leave no lasting harm.

I was still doing some last consideration as to creature vs. band of thugs.

The first has the virtue of giving the relative more control as to how the encounter plays out.

The second -- keeps things less occult. I like the relative best as a very adept and well connected schemer, with some magic, rather than as more definitively a mage. Of course, it could always go that they are employing a caster, rather than being much of one themselves. We'll see.

I like your general idea for the entity, Kitan. If anyone has suggestions or thoughts, this is the time.

Well, sort of the time -- X-mas is nearly upon us! I won't be on as much for the next week; with no promises as to availability. But probably not completely gone. I'm just too much of an addict...

I'm leaning more towards thugs than magical creature, thugs are just easier to come bay and don't raise to much suspicion to where they come from, they can also be more versatile (hired thugs, highway robbers etc).

On the other hand, as Morveya stated, the magical creature would give the relative more control, but my only concern on this is wouden't the summoner have to be somewhat close in order to maintain control over it?

Also happy holidays everyone, I know I'm running around like a chicken with its head cut off busy busy busy busy.

Hey Clarisse, should I wait for you to respond before posting again? Didn't know if you were going to put up a reply or not. Thanks.

Go ahead and post Alex, my post would basically the same as my first one and rather pointless IMO. Also I think shes not going to get directly involved until this new baddie we're discussing shows up.

Hope everyone has a good a holiday (or did have, if you happen to be Jewish) as possible. Will look forward to more mud and madness after the X-mas madness subsides on my front!

The bandage work will be accomplished without incident. Unless anyone cares to introduce one.

Alex - do you want to be relatively whole for the encounter? Or left with an unbandaged wound?

Any final votes for men or monster? Last call! ;)

Oh, and Kitan - in case not clear - what Morveya is envisioning is her neck and head supporting the cloak on one side, (flipped up and over) with you holding the end of it on the other side of Alex. In case I didn't describe it well.

Hopefully Kitan won't pull too hard. Nor slip in the mud.

We'd be like the Three Stooges of Thar Shaddin...

I'm throwing in my vote for The group of thugs. Also hope everyone had/is having a good holiday season.

Bandaging him up, or just putting a cloth under his armor to soak up blood and provide pressure should do for now. Either way if we get into combat that wound of Alex's will likely reopen.

I vote for men over monsters. Seems to make more sense, personally.

I was about to pitch in and advocate using common thugs, but it looks like everyone beat me to the punch there. ;)

Well sports fans, it's a lock out!

Common, unprincipled, unwashed, (well actually are fairly washed with the rain) uncouth, cads win!

Phantasmagoric, shifty, slinky, beastie of the nether-domains -- meh -- better luck time.

If you guys want to maintain the usual post order, I'll introduce the attack on my next. Assuming you two move us on a bit.

Or if someone else wants to, go for it.

I could always post about it, have Clarisse actually do something aside from sitting in a tree. I was thinking that she could signal them or take advantage of this current confusion and scurry down to tell them to go on with the assumed plan of capturing or Morveya, though she knows otherwise.

That would work well, I think.

I don't see any problem with that. Go on ahead. :)
