Iunno, think Dirk could take him in a slap battle?

Right now I think we're pretty flexible so do whatever you think most likely to happen.
The statues I think. . .I don't know what kind of magic they have. I was thinking maybe they effect everyone a little differently, sort of reactive towards each person's personality, almost an inactive attempt to twist the person to their own gain. Since they are anchored in astral magic (or uh, are they? I don't remember) that might be to make them naturally want more astral magic slipping through the cracks. So maybe they attempt to warp their holders into becoming conduits for the astral plane. It'd explain why magic users would find the things really damn useful -- when in control the statues themselves would be conduits to greater magical power.
So, they're extremely illegal, very potent, and tend to possess the unwary. How's it sound?
So, of course, whatever the individual starts to experience might just happen to cross over into the real world. . .

Actually Dirk was just going to offer the kid ten bishani for the statue, then go find the thugs and sell it back to them. If the kid doesn't agree there's no way Dirk can keep pace with him.
He's also fairly resistant to magic, so possessing the statue for a brief period of time probably wouldn't affect him. It's just everything else in the world that poses a danger.

Boy has that bitten calf too right now, so he's not terribly fast. Hmm. Would he take ten bishani? I dunno if he would; he'd know that he could get more for it. He might try to barter, he might just try to run. Plus, Dirken is with Iarei and he wants to avoid Iarei entirely. If Dirken were to sweet talk him about how this is their little secret and how selling the statue to dirk shows how smart and valuable boy is, then boy would probably do it. He really is yearning for some love right now, even if he doesn't know it. But then again he's also kinda bratty so. . .

...er. *creeps in* I know I've been the worst sort of person and any kind of excuses will just up the level of my douchebaggery-ness, but I can say that this thread is way too much fun for me to ever abandon, so at least that's something. Also, I love these people. They don't work well together, which makes things fun.
Also, I figured since Jester has, unwittingly, had a lot of contact with the statues, she would be the one most likely to become obsessed with them, and that since she will possibly come in contact with one soon, that shit can start going down. Of course this is only a suggestion, and if we want to keep it sane and level for a while or avoid a magical explosion of sorts that is also fine with me. But Jester does have less resistance than most due to her already being magical, and so she could maybe start channeling the Astral Plan without consciously intending too, and Dirken would be there to be magic-resistant and logical. And he could either get Iarei or try to get the statue for himself in the confusion. And that's about how far I've thought in that. Opinions?

I loved Jester's early signs of insanity and think it'll come out well. (I also think it's awesome that the person in the least danger of magical corruption is the total jerk, and he probably won't realise what's going on for the entire thread.)

So I pmed Aniseed about a week ago, with no response. I think the University ninjas captured her in the night and carried her off.
What do we want to do? Wait a bit longer until exams for most schools are done with? Auto her for now and hope she comes back? Abandon the thread?
I love this thread dearly, and do not wish to abandon it.

I still think we can take Erryl and Iarei out for their own thread, but I don't know about Dirken. He could easily run into the two of them, if he was to be involved. In fact, we could start a new Erryl/Iarei thread and let Dirk jump in anytime since that would work out easy. Or they could catch the boy, by chance, if he got away from the others, which isn't unlikely considering what a slippery little [expletive] he is. We could put that in there anytime as well.
Really, the way things are set up, we can probably just get away with playing out whatever and if Aniseed comes back, she could easily write her way back in too. Yes?

I think it would be easiest if we keep going in this one, maybe auto aniseed a little bit as necessary. If we pulled out for another thread we'd still be dealing with the same things.

After much contemplation, I have decided that I just may butt my head in here. Kat suggested I come this way and Jason seems pretty supportive of the idea, but I figured I would appeal to all involved parties before jumping in..So do you mind a newb slipping in here, Dirken?

A polar bear shifter? Maybe we won't all get horribly murdered after all!
How are we doing the intro? Are we going for the classic, you barrel through in the middle of a hopeless fight and rescue everyone from the thugs? Or trying something different?

I was thinking more of Tais entering the inn they're at looking for work. The group spots him, knows they'll need some muscle, and informs him they have work for him..Which is great until they realize he's more of a teddy bear than a polar bear.

That'd work since Iarei is about ready to blow anyways. Go ahead and post now, and then I'll go after you. Too, she might just hire him because she would expect him to have a great sense of smell, which she could use to get him to find Jester or the boy. We'll make it work.

Ah, sorry but if you get time to post before I get around to it, Tais, please just skip me a round, so I don't hold the thread back any. Erryl's not really important at this moment anyway, so go ahead.
