Re: Among the Graves
Don't blame me; "no magic" is listed quite explicitly on her character sheet. She just... doesn't always go out of her way to make sure that everybody knows that.Saruna wrote:lmao! Re: Among the Graves
So... where are we going with this?
If it comes to a confrontation that they really can't get out of alive, Derin can always flee and use "plan B" -- ditch her bracelet and reincarnate in another body down the road. Whether she gets out of this in her current body or not doesn't really bother me.
The problem would be Saruna. In such a confrontation, the only choices I see are basically die, reveal some undiscovered power (she has latent magic, doesn't she?), get imprisoned (if that happened, Derin would probably try to rescue her at some point in the future, but she'd need a new host body first), or get some slap-on-the-wrist punishment and let go since she hasn't really done anything that bad. Should the Guard attempt to arrest the pair or not?

Re: Among the Graves
In my head, Saruna gets to live peacefully together with Derin, living a second adult motherhood.
I know that's not likely to happen, but I want it for her. More realistically, I believe she'll be taken by the guards once Hanser gets enough out of Gustel to take it to the guards. I don't know what that'll mean for her; I'll have to ask someone about it. I doubt it'll be slap on the wrist though -- harboring a magic user can't be something minor.
But, hell, maybe if she gets stuck in the dungeons she'll learn something about her father, and then maybe Derin will work to get her out if she feels it's another test Saruna is posing. :/

Re: Among the Graves
We could come up with some super clever way for the women to turn suspicion back on Hanser and Gustel, make it look like they're being set up.
If they can learn that Gustel betrayed them, they could even make themselves sound innocent -- convince Hanser that Gustel was cursed by somebody completely different and forced to make it sound like it was them.

Re: Among the Graves
I think the best bet would have to be through Gustel. Hanser has been known by the guards for awhile, so in a he said she said match they would be hard pressed indeed to prove him guilty. Gustel on the other hand is saying he's cursed when he's really not, and only saw a magical-ish artifact, which I don't think is as severe a punishment as actual illegal magic using. They could potentially accuse Gustel of trying to set them up, work with Marn rather than against it, and of course Hanser would back them up rather than take a fall or accrue suspicion with Gustel.
An addendum!
Do you think it's time for a new thread? We're kinda wayyy past the graves part now. I was thinking maybe after Gustel finishes his report we could end it, and start a new thread a few weeks to a month down the road in terms of how long it has been between one thread and the next. You know, like it's taken some time for Gustel's accusation to go through Marn's government and so we start the thread around the time when they get officially accused.
second thing -- think we should include one of the new characters in a new thread?

Good idea. This thread is getting kinda long and we could do with attracting another player.

Alright, do you want to do one last post, or shall we call this one done?
This will be my very first completed thread on Thar.
