Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
Before Talia had a chance to turn around and head up to her cozy bed, Drayel was holding her by the shoulder and attempted to look her in the eyes. Biting her lower lip she tried not to cry, she really did. But all that will power was enough to combat her exhaustion.
Between shakey breathes she attempted to explain what was going on. "I'm just, just so tired. And today has been so stressful. If I go through another day like this before my bosses get back then I am as good as fired." She whimpered at this thought. "Between that, and you being mad at me and Shade being....well whatever' he was being, I'm just stressed and exhausted."
Looking at Drayel she was a bit happy he had forced her to talk about what was going on. It was already producing a calming effect on her. This meant something to her because she didn't trust people with her emotions very often, least of all men. After all, she had been abondoned often enough that she failed to see the point in letting people in if they were just going to leave.
Talia was thankful that Drayel was practically holding her up otherwise she was certain that she would have fallen over by now. She was already dreading the climb up the stairs, maybe she would wait until she was left alone and just sleep by the stove tonight, it would be warm at the very least.

Drayel blinked as he tilted his head, eyes softening a little as he hummed in understanding. Gently he gave her a pat on the shoulder before slowly releasing her with an almost calculated expression. He wrinkled his nose, then made another face, before rolling his eyes a bit with a sigh.
"If it be fine with you, I'll hold a stakeout in the kitchen. One, to be sure nobody breaks in (including that idiot outside) and two simply because its cold enough out there that I think I froze something rather important off." Drayel shivered and let out a low huff of irritation. "Of course, it is your choice. You are the one in charge of this place."
"As for your job though, I can speak on your behalf if you wish. Surely you weren't meant to handle two larger men let alone a thief who magically unlocks doors. There isn't anything you could do to stop it." Drayel pointed out. "If they fire you for that then pah! I'm sure the other bakeries would be eager to sink their mitts into you. You're bread is one of the best in town if the rumors from the guardshouse are true and your customers are loyal. No worries about your job at least."

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
Talia sniffed and nodded. She felt foolish now for crying, but what was a girl to do? "I dont mind at all, plus I would want you to loose anything vital because of me." She was able to get the quiver out of her voice and offer a small smile. She chose to ignore the 'something rather important', her face had gone red enough in the past day to last her a few months.
"Thanks...thanks for the encouragement." She mumbled sleepily to Drayel as she slowly set about putting the last of the logs in the stove. She would have to go outside to get more...but she could do that later. Right now she just want to keep herself busy so she could calm down enough so when she did get to bed she could be able to sleep instead of laying there, tired but sleepless.
It probably wasn't the best idea but she put on the kettle again. It was her third cup of tea in the past hour and she probably would regret it in the middle of the night but there was something to be said for the calming effect of tea.
Looking at Drayel in a thoughtful manner she contemplated his shirtlessness. Certainly if he kept the stove fed he would be perfectly warm, but that would mean getting up every few hours and that wasn't bound to be very enjoyable. She headed up the stairs without a word, using the railing to support and in some places pull her up.
Reaching her room she opened the door and went to her closet, pulling her spare blanket out. She paused at the door before walking back into the room and grabbed the quilt off her bed as well. With all the baking late in the day it was fairly warm upstairs and if anything she could throw on an extra shirt or her cloak if she got cold.
Walking carefully down the stairs she headed back to the stove and made a bed in front of it using one blanket as a makeshift mattress. She pulled over the sack of flour that Shade had brought, checking to make sure it was sealed properly before covering it with a clean apron. Looking at her handiwork she smiled to herself. It wasn't going to be the best but it would keep him off the cold floor and from freezing in the middle of the night.
Looking up at Drayel she noticed him holding something out to her in his hands. It was a cup of tea that he must have made while she was upstairs. "Thank you." She whispered accepting the cup before going to sit down at the table. "Thank-you for everything."
It certainly wasn't the best cup of tea she had ever tasted but it was good enough for what Talia needed. She wrapped her fingers around the cup to warm her fingers as she looked at the tea leaves floating to the top of the water. It only took her a a second, she only closed her eyes for a second but they didn't open again as she finally succumbed to sleep with a small smiled resting atop her soft lips.

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
Drayel blinked in surprise when the baker woman's head dropped and she drifted off right at the table. For a moment he said nothing, just stood there and cocked his head as he frowned down at the slumbered woman. He wasn't quite sure what to do with her. It was rude to go into her house after all and even if he went upstairs, he had no idea where her room was.
His eyes shifted to look at the makeshift bed she'd made for him, his calculated eyes thinking over his plan before he turned and walked quietly to Talia's side then quietly pulling the cup from her hands. Kneeling he gently slipped his arms behind her back and under her knees, slowing picking her up with a grunt. He shifted her around for a moment, making sure he had a good grip before carrying her to the bed. Tucking her in, he straightened up with a grunt.
Walking back to the table he sat in the wooden chair Talia had previously occupied, swigging the tea with a grunt. He'd make more coffee in a bit, stay awake and keep guard on the inside while the baker woman slept. He was a guard after all, and what else to do but keep watch? He grunted a little before downing the last of it and eyeing the near empty pile of logs.
Who knows, maybe if he felt nasty enough he'd get Shade to cut wood. He grinned darkly as he peered into the empty bottom of his cup. Yes. Puppy was going to get a damn ass kicking and why not start with a couple good logs? Logs always made the newbies cry, so why not him? Drayel chuckled as he got up and headed for the door.

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
Talia yawned and stretched her arms above her head. Moistening her lips with her tongue she looked up and blinked confusedly at the ceiling. This was not her normal view above her bed. She sat up quickly with a gasp. Although after a quick look around she realized that she was in the kitchen on the bed that she had set up for Drayel, who was sitting at the table watching her and sipping a cup of what she assumed was coffee.
Talia breathed a sigh of relief. For a moment there she had forgotten what transpired the night before, simply remembering Shade looming in front of her with all his charms turned on high. She had been worried that she may have gone a little too far but it seemed fairly obvious that nothing had happened. Besides her falling asleep somewhere other then her bed that is.
Standing up she straightened the skirt of her dress, trying to somewhat smooth out the wrinkles before straightening up and smiling, a little sheepishly, at Drayel.
"Good morning! I would ask if you slept well but it looks like you didn't get much sleep at all last night. I'm sorry that I stole your bed."True it wasn't morning yet for some people but for a baker, 4:00 was the average waking hour.
Walking over to the stove she realized that the indoor wood bin had been full overnight and that the stove still was warm enough that if she simply added a log or two it would make it easy enough to heat it hot enough to bake her bread.
"If you don't mind, I would like to get the bread in the oven first and then I can make us a nice breakfast. Since the night is over, I assume Shade is done his job now? He is certainly welcome to join us as well." Talia cheerily bounced around the room as she once again was kneading dough, dividing it into loaves and putting them into pans. It was amazing what a good nights' sleep could do for someone. Besides a little stiff, it felt like yesterday had never really happened.
As she wrapped up her business with the dough she looked over her shoulder at Drayel thoughtfully. He was still was lacking in the shirt department though so she tried hard to not stare, although she did remember catching a glimpse of a tattoo on one of his shoulders last night and she was curious to what is was and what it meant to him.
"Its a long ways back to the barracks, you don't have a shirt and I doubt any of mine would fit you." She chuckled at the thought before shooting him a cheeky grin with her next comment. "I wouldn't want to be the reason you loose 'something rather important'. So you are more then welcome to get some sleep upstairs after breakfast. If you don't mind sleeping in a girl's room. The sheets are clean and everything, and I would stay down here of course. Now that night is over I should be just fine."
Yes, sleep was definitely what she needed and having someone around this early was enjoyable! Usually she worked alone for several hours before anyone showed up to help. The thought was might as well just have the girl upstairs do the 'easy' morning work so that once the bread was baking you wouldn't have several people sitting around with nothing to do.

"I will be fine." Drayel assured her with a roll of his eyes. His mind did feel groggy of course but it was improper for him to sleep here. No, he remained vigilant despite the sleepy tugs on his mind. "Though, if you don't mind I want to bring in Shade. Even with that fur of his, it's probably a bit chilly."
Drayel stood up with a grunt, not bothering to wait for an approval as he made his way to the backdoor. Popping it open he let out a sharp whistle before standing back. At first there was nothing, then a loud thump and scratching of nails as a large black thing bolted inside and scrambled on the floors. Skidding to a halt, Shade peered up at Drayel with large accusing eyes before giving his fur a shake.
"What?" Drayel snorted as he watched the 'wolf' dance on his paws in an attempt to get some feeling again. "T'isn't my fault you can't control yourself or I wouldn't have had to come back. Besides, at least you have a shirt in here."
Shade growled darkly before laying on his belly with his head in his paws, still probably cursing at Drayel with all his might as he shivered on the floor. Drayel rolled his eyes before reclaiming his seat at the table, picking up his cup of tea with a deep hum.
"Idiot."
"Grrrr."
"I protest to that." Drayel snorted. "Besides, at least I've got an actual job you mooch."
"Grrar, ruff."
"Mooching is not a job and you can't say you're a babysitter either. You don't have the responsibility to watch Rebbecca for more then half an hour. I can't remember how many times I've had to pull her out of a tree while you were going haywire." Drayel huffed as he gave the dog a solid kick to the side. "Now shut it. Mrs. Idris is trying to concentrate."

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
Talia shrugged her shoulders at Drayel's refused her offer, although she was impressed with how alert he seemed even with lack of sleep for 24ish hours now.
She was not expecting Shade's wolf form to come bounding in, although she guess it would be the most practical thing to do considering the weather. A little shocked she watched the two of them bicker, well as much as a wolf and a man could. Although once they were done she looked at both of them with her hand on her hips.
"He can't be in here like that." She said rather dryly. Realizing how that probably sounded (and considering how Drayel had reacted to her apparent lack of love for shifters yesterday) she attempted to soften her voice and explain.
"This isn't just a kitchen ain my home, otherwise....representing yourself as such wouldn't really be a problem." She had paused halfway through the sentence trying to think of a suitable way of saying what she was thinking without lying and saying she didn't mind having him around him in his wolf form. Because she did mind, greatly, even if he all guard approved.
"It's a workplace," she continue to explain gesturing around the room. "I make food that people buy here. If one single hair, especially yours, is found in the food our whole reputation could be ruined. People don't seem to like hair in their bread, although who knows why." Talia tried to add a little sarcasm to lighten the mood a bit before jumping at the sound of a knock at the kitchen door.
Looking at the clock she realized what time it was and excitedly headed to the door. Opening the door a crack she peeked her head out and smiled at who she saw. Looking back into her kitchen she took in the sight of a wolf and shirtless man in the room. With a laugh she shook her head before slipping out the door and closing it behind her
"I will be back in just a minute!" She said before the door was shut. Turning to the young man in front of her she smiled. "So? What is the deal today?"
"Sausages. And they are the good ones, don't worry I checked." He chuckled with a wink at her.
Talia clapped her hands in excitement. She had a deal with one of the employees of the store several blocks over that whenever a deal was planned for the day he would take a 'break' and run over and tell her. That way she could buy some and make a little something special to sell that day. And since she knew about the sales before the other bakeries she was always able to bring in more business before they even had a chance to make anything.
Reaching into the pouch she often had attched to her belt she grabbed the bishan that was there and counted out several. Looking thoughtfully towards the door she added a couple more before handing it to the man. "Can you bring me however much this gets me, Garrison? I'm doing to make some sausage rolls today! And breakfast!" She smiled as she rubbed her arms to keep herself from getting too cold.
"Of course Tal! I can bring your order back shortly. By the way, why are we doing business out here instead of inside? It feels like we are making some black market deal!" Garrison chuckled as he gazed curiously towards the door behind her.

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
Drayel frowned as he stuck his ear to the door, glaring down at Shade as he copied. By the sounds of it, it was just a simple bargaining. Sausages? He frowned a little, unsure how to take this newcomer without being able to see him. They sounded friendly, like old friends but he wasn't sure. He froze up however when he heard about coming inside. He looked down at Shade and they wore the same expressions.
Aw shit.
As one they pushed silently from the door and hastily tiptoed towards the back where Shade's clothes were kept. Grabbing his jacket, Drayel hastily pulled his arms through while Shade snuffled through the pants. Pulling the rope he used as a belt free, he shoved it hard into Drayel's hand.
"Never thought we'd have to do this." Drayel grouched not forgetting the comment Talia had mentioned about 'plummeting reputations' and 'dog hair'. They needed to sneak out and stay out until the 'guest' was no longer a threat to the bakery. So, Drayel dressed like a scraggly streetman tied the rope to Shade's collar and both shuffled out the door with the accompanied grumbles of complaints from both. They sneaked down the empty alley with success. He sighed in relief.
"Come on then, let's go for a walk and try to blend in a bit." Drayel said with a tug of the leash. "Who knows, maybe she'll get lucky and actually get some good things happen today eh?"

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
Talia had looked nervously towards the door before facing Garrison again. "Well....lets just say that yesterday did not go smoothly and its just way to much of a mess. It would be embarrassing for me to bring you in there!"
"Oh Tal, always trying to be the proper lady." he chuckled at her, hopping out of the way as Talia had attempted to kick a clod of dirt at him.
"Go on and get out of here. I'll have everything fixed up by the time that you get back and then you can rest your wimpy self by the fire. I want those sausages delivered within the hour!" She called to him as he took off towards the main street and the shop where he worked.
Even though her cheeks and finger tips were red from the cold Talia still made sure that Garrison was out of sight and not turning back before the opened up the door. "Guess what I got us for breakfast!" She called out in a singsongy voice before she realized that she was alone.
She gazed confused around the room for a minute before shrugging her shoulders and setting to work on making the dough for the sausage rolls, occasionally stopping to pull the finished loaves of bread out of the oven and put in the pans of dough. The young man from down the street would be back shortly with the sausages for her and hopefully wouldn't stay too long . There was no doubt in her mind that eventually Drayel would return, with or without Shade. Although she did hope it would be later rather then sooner since if yesterday proved anything, Garrison would most likely be considered a suspect as well. And as much as she wanted this whole issue solved, she would rather not scare anyone else off in the process!

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
Man and dog walked the streets with a set of grim expressions. Step by step, they marched on through the snow without a glance at those passing by. It was cold and both quietly wondered just how much of their toes would remain after this long stroll. Already both of their stomachs growled in unison, putting them both in a rather cranky mood.
"I wonder who that stranger was." Drayel said aloud as he held absentminded to Shade's leash. "Mrs. Idris knows him by all appearances though, how? Judging by how they talked I don't think he'd rob the store. Then who I wonder? Hm? Oi, quit your pulling."
But Shade didn't, he strained at the leash with his eyes locked on target. Recognizing the signs of a scent caught, Drayel immediately released the leash and got ready for a run. Shade bolted with Drayel on his heels, nose up in the air as was his tail, waving in the wind like a proud flag. He'd caught a scent!

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
It didn't take Talia long before she had finished to dough for today's extra goodies and set about to set of the storefront with the finished bakery. It was still an hour or so until 7am when they would officially open. Most days they opened at 6am but since Talia was on her own she had been given permission to shorten the hours for the duration of the Campion's absence. Considering how much free time she currently had Talia decided to brew some coffee and tea. That way when Drayel and Shade returned they would have something nice to warm their insides up while sitting near the fire.
Sitting down at the table she stared at her hands pondering the past day and simply wondered where today would take her. After all yesterday proved to be one disaster or another so perhaps today with bring about some good news?
Half an hour passed and she started to get restless. "Where is that boy?" Talia grumbled out loud. True it was sometimes hard for him to get away from work and on those days she would leave one or both Campions to run the place and retrieve the goods herself. But being on her own proved a problem for that, and several other issues.
And on the topic of absent men, where did Drayel and Shade go? They hadn't even left a note saying when they would be back, or even if they were planning on coming back. It seemed like people were always abandoning her. Okay, so Drayel and Shade weren't really close or anything but still, they could have at least said goodbye or something!

Fight on!
The scent Shade had found led to a straggly old man with a toothless grin. He wobbled on around while he staggered forward, his cane occasionally shooting out in order to stop himself from falling. This often made his walking sound more like clanks and clumps as the can smacked random object whist trying to keep the man upright. When questioned of why he was in the alley way behind the bakery a couple nights ago, he simply answered with a rather sad look on his face that he had gotten turned around due to a prankster and bad eyesight. Judging by the small whitish film taht covered the mans eyes, Drayel decided it was most likely true. Letting the old man go, Drayel and Shade trudged back towards the Bakery, taking the alleyways in order to avoid being seen by comrades.
They'd made it just near a butcher's shop when a loud whack caught Drayel's ear. Alarmed he quickly followed the noise until he found the source, a damn mugging-to-be. One frightened man was pinned to the wall, held up by a larger man with a scrawnier one standing close at shoulder. Drayel bristled before glancing at Shade and untying the leash.
"Oi!" Drayel roared causing the two to jump. He swung the rope in a loose circle as he sneered in disgust at the gaping trio. "Put the man down, by order of the guard! If you shall not comply, I will - ah!" A rock hit the side of Drayel's face with enough force to slice open his lip and spin his head slightly to the left. Straightening he spit out a bit of blood that trickled into his mouth, before looking up and glaring at the smaller one who threw it with a look that put yesterday's to shame.
"By the order of the guard you are now to be pummeled. Shade, sick 'em." The huge furry creature left his size with an throaty growl, hackles up as he took a leaping charge at the smaller male. Scrawny let out a scream as he struck Shade across the side of the head in an attempt to get the furious wolf off. Seeing his partners distress Beefy dropped the victim and started to turn only to meet a seasoned fist instead. Yowling in pain he staggered back clutching his nose while Drayel grinned darkly above him.
A thwack and a yelp was the only warning he got before Scrawny jumped on his back and wrapped thin arms around his throat. Startled Drayel let out a barking yell as he tried to shake him off, grinding his teeth when the arms tightened like a vice grip until he could barely breath. He coughed, slamming his back hard into the alley wall in an attempt to throw the man off. First time it didn't work, second time, nothing. There wasn't a third time as he finally lost his temper and reached back, grabbed the man by the hair and yanked.
Beefy was up now, yelling in fury whilst his friend was thrown onto the hard path. He moved forward only about a step before something grabbed onto his leg and tripped him, sharp teeth digging hard into his ankle. Yelping Beefy rolled onto his back only to meet the bright green eyes of a furious wolf who stood above him, eyes locked on his throat. Frightened Beefy reached for a dagger he carried on his hip, getting ready to slash at the big canine when a foot stamped hard on his arm and broke it. Howling in pain he looked up shocked at the looming guard.
"Nobody hurts my dog." Drayel spat before bringing his fist down hard on Beefy's skull. His head cracked loudly and his eyes rolled before he went limp, thankfully unconscious. Just as Drayel started to stand, Shade barked warnings just seconds too late. Turning to look behind him Drayel was struck again across the head though this time it was with what appeared to be scrap wooden pole. Drayel's brain spun as he staggered backwards, his eye sight blackening for a moment before clearing away to see stars. Distantly he heard Shade growl and yelp before another blow to nearly broke his ribs.
He felt the blows get harder while he tried to curl in, protecting his center while the blows rained on his back. He forced his teeth together as he let out a sharp grunt of pain, lips curling as he suppressed the urge to howl when a rather solid blow struck him across the spine. Above him Scrawny was yelling and taunting while Shade staggered to his feet.
Laying on his side Drayel grit his teeth as finally his head stopped spinning and he was able to keep the world straight. Another blow that was aimed for his legs struck gold but Drayel didn`t yelp. In fact, he used Scrawny`s bent over position to his advantage and kicked the enemy hard in the nose. There was a solid crunch of bone and a scream of pain telling him he made mark. Shade was on Scrawny in a second, snapping inches from the bloody face as he pinned the attacker to the ground. Drayel grimaced as he forced himself to sit up on his elbow and look at the terriied looking man they`d just saved.
"Go get the other guards." Drayel snapped at him. "They should be partroling nearby for heaven sake."
The man nodded viciously before bolting out into the wide street, shouting for the guards. Already Drayel felt his stomach clench, his throat releasing a whiny groan as he half dragged himself to the alley wall and began prodding for broken bones.
The guard came short while after, arresting the two idiots whilst half mocking half worrying over Drayel and Shade. Waving off the concerns Drayel simply sat quiet beside Shade, hand resting on his furry head as they watched them be taken away. The man who`d been mugged sat back with owlish eyes, the earlier terror dyin down in clear shock. Hesitantly he came to Drayel and cleared his throat.
"Thank you... for saving me." He mumbled looking sheepishly at his feet. "I didn`t think they`d.... that muggers would even be out this early. Sorry for the trouble..."
"If you`re that sorry you`ll remember this damned lesson." Drayel scolded as he gave the man a sharp look. "Had we not been passing by, you would be on the beaten end and not us."
"I... Can I help you get anywhere?" the man asked shamefully. "There`s a bakery not far from here that I`m running errands for, perhaps you`d like to rest there for a moment? I`m sure Miss. Idris wouldn`t mind."
"No... No I`m sure she wouldn`t mind." Drayel said dryly. He sighed as he reached up and waited for a hand. "Come on then, let us go harrass the baker woman. I doubt she`d be too shocked to see us after all and those sausages aren`t going to deliver themselves."

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
A knock at the door caused Talia to jump before a smile stretched across her face. "It's about time you came back!" She called as she walked towards the door. She didn't know which of the men it would be but any of them were to be welcomed back if not scolded for their own various reasons.
Opening the door her smile quickly froze as she stared at the sight in front of her. A rather scruffy young man, a wolf with what seemed to be a rapidly growing bump on the head and bleeding and battered guard was what she laid her eyes on. She groaned at the sight...if this was a sign of things to come, today was not going to be any better then the one before.
"Hey Tal..." Garrison said smiling sheepishly as he held out a satchel of what she guessed were her sausages. "Sorry I took so long." He looked up at Drayel and blushed slightly, obviously trying to think of a way to get around telling the story of what really happened and still explaining the presence to the two behind him.
"Well?" Talia asked raising her one eyebrow quizzically, still standing at the door.
Not being able to come up with a suitable excuse he hung his head and mumbled the story of getting attacked on his way back and of his rescue at the hands of the guard and dog behind him.
"Do you think that we could all come in for a bit? Just to warm up a bit and such?"
Talia shook her head at the whole story but stepped back, ushering the men in the door before closing it behind them. Staring at Shade she glared at him for a moment. Looking towards Drayel who had settled into a chair she spoke rather dryly. "Either your dog goes back to his human form or he must go and sit in the back corner and stay there. I've said it before and I shall say it again, I can't have animal hair flying into my food and ruining my business."
Turning around she closed the subject and ignored him while she walked the counters and started searching for something in the drawers. A few minutes later she handed each of them a damp cold cloth. One for Shade's bump, one each for Garrison and Drayel to wipe off some of the grim. Looking at Drayel's lip she bite her own and went to grab a fourth cloth. She was going to have to do laundry anyways.
Dampening it, she walked back to Drayel and held it towards his face. "For your lip." She said softly before turning around and walking to the stove. "Will you be okay? Besides your lip bleeding you don't seem too badly hurt, but there could be internal damage that you may want to have checked out."
She tossed a couple more logs to heat the stove before grabbing two frying pans from another cupboard. Placing them on the stove she set about to cook several of the sausages and fry up several eggs. When they were started she brought two coffee cups over to the table, setting them down silently before going back to her cooking.
She was both concerned and angry at the men in her kitchen. Why did they have to make her worry about yet another thing? Sure she could brush them off as not her problem, but Garrison nearly was hurt running errands for her and Drayel and Shade had rescued him and had been helping her out so it was the least she could do.

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
"I doubt any fatal injuries happened." Drayel stated taking the cloth and letting out a sigh. "I feel rather stupid leaving my sword here though. I doubt I'd have half as many bruises with it. Ah, by the way man. I suggest keeping your mouth shut about me being a guard. I don't want any more people knowing then needed."
"Yessir."
"Hmph." He grimaced as Drayel started to tug at his shirt, pulling it off with a strained snort as he forced aching muscles to move when they didn't want to. Examining the damage he started grumbling, using a cloth to try and clean up what little blood spilt. "Damn that scrawny bastard. He hits harder then he looks."
Bruises in black and purple covered him like a cow with spots. Most of them were on his sides and arms but the occasional one that struck his back hurt the worst. He winced as he gently began prodding at the blow to his chest, hissing a little when he pushed too hard.
"Dammit. This will take a while to heal too..." He muttered wiping off the dirt and drops of blood that dripped from his lip off his chest. "I doubt they'd cause any more trouble.... I'll have to ask Garb to interrogate them for magic. Perhaps one of them broke in..... Would make sense though. Ow! Dammit!"

Re: Baker, Baker, Where Are Your Buns?
Talia looked up and tried to hide the shock and concern when she saw all the bruises. Moving the almost cooked food to the back of the stove where they could stay warm but not get over cooked she looked around and grabbed a bowl. Filling it with warm water from the kettle that she had previously boiled she added vinegar. Grabbing her last cloth she walked up to Drayel.
His bare back had been turned towards her and he must have been too focused on his other wounds to hear her approach. When she held the wet, and strong smelling cloth to his back he had practically jumped up and yelled.
"Oh don't be such a baby." She chuckled as she continued to wash his back with the vinegar water. "This is an old home remedy for helping to dissipate bruises so hold still. I would let you do this yourself but I doubt you can reach your back properly without dripping all over my floor."
"There, finished. You can do your own arms and chest." She said putting the bowl and cloth on the table in front of him. She stared at the tattoo on his shoulder for a moment, wondering what it meant to him or if it was just something all guards ended up getting.
Turning around once again she headed to the stove. At this point Garrison stood up and cleared his voice. "As much as I would like to stay....I need to get back to work."
"Alright. Thanks for coming over and bringing the sausages. You know, you don't have to do this for me everyday, I didn't realize how dangerous it was still at this time."
"Oh don't worry about it, I was just caught off guard." He seemed slightly annoyed but walked over to Talia and whispered to her. "Are you sure you will be okay being alone with him, Tal? I know he rescued me and all...but you can't be too careful around some men even if they are guards."
Talia laughed and shook her head. "Don't worry about me Garrison. They were here yesterday doing some work for me. If anything happens I know their weakness - flour." She giggled and shooed him out the door. "Now get going before your boss gets mad at you for being gone so long!"
She watched him run down the alley before turning to Shade. "Do you think you could follow him and make sure he gets back to work safely? I would feel responsible if he got hurt anymore doing things for me."
