So far, the only real deliberate illusion-casting has been easing the pain of a badly injured child (back in Finner's blimp) and to hide a child from a crazed sorcerer who intended a bloody death for her (Panterras).
I will have to ask Frug if the Judges would want a demonstration, or at least if they expected demonstrations from Aorle.
Out of curiosity, would Rosemary want to learn combat training?
That all sounds good! Julen won't argue about practicing because the idea of using his magic now scares him more than ever. And Rosemary would have been interested in combat training, but Aorle managed to turn her attention toward learning healing, so she's probably pretty focused on that.

Lyl: I have actually referred to that conversation happening already back IC during Bargains, but I see no reason not to mention it again.

No need to do so again if it's been mentioned. I just completely blanked that out of my mind. Can you remind me which post, so I can refresh my (clearly less than stellar) memory?

Glancing towards Julen, mixed his wish for a report with friendly concern. "I trust all is well? None of you have been hurt?" He felt sure if anyone was hurt he would have been told before the introduction, although he was not one to leave the matter unchecked. "I understand Rollick chose to leave the sharpshooters behind." When Sir Aorle learned that his friends were leaving the compound to fight a necromancer, he wanted them supported by concealed archers who could take down the sorcerer with a minimum of fuss - from what he understood, Panterras was without defensive magics, and so would be helpless against incoming arrows launched from surprise. The offer was refused, because Rollick knew more of Panterras and they had a plan to exploit the crazed sorcerer's weaknesses.
Privately, Aorle felt this was more because Rollick did not want to pass on the responsibility of killing a former friend. A few factors convinced him otherwise; the first being that Panterras may have in the past ten years shown the sense to develop at least some way of protecting himself from arrows, a spell Aorle would personally expect to be most in vogue among sorcerers, and the second reason being that Rollick knew what he was doing - he chose the place deliberately to deny Panterras any cover or hidden allies, and this prevented him from concealing snipers as well. So after making his suggestions, he left the older, more experienced warrior to command his own ambush.

I read that passage before (and was remembering it existed,) but I was remembering it somewhat differently. As it is, I don't think there's much, if anything, more that needs to be said. Thanks!

OK, quick group huddle?
Rail and Quinn, are you planning to play out Aorle meeting the mercenaries, or do it as summary? If you plan to play it all out, approximately how much time do you plan to devote to it?
I don't mean to rush you, and you can totally take as much time as you need/want, but since Jules and I have to coordinate with you on the timing, we kind of just need to know one way or the other. As it is, I'm not quite sure how much time we need to fill, so I have no clue what direction we should go in.
Assuming it is going to be played out, Jules, do you want to find a new direction for this conversation, or move on to something different? If we're moving on, what did you want to do, and with which characters?

I intend to play out the meeting - I suggested it as a way for Quinn to get Zaryel active. I doubt the conversation would be very long though.
PS: Apologies for delay with Phelan post, but I'm assuming that thread has no real time-limit.

I'm sublimating.

I should be writing my part of this collaborative thing for an amateur theatre group, so naturally I have a complete block on that but find it easy to do other random things, like give the merceneries who were meant to be background NPCs actually histories and personalities. Oh well.
Is there going to be a time-jump to tomorrow eventually? I'll probably just have Quinn pick the mercs up in one post and then bring them over here.

Sounds good.
By the way, should Soubrette choose to accept the offer, feel free to summarise/skip if you wish. We can jump right now if you wish.
As you may have guessed, Aorle is finding Soubrette strangely fascinating.

Quinn may be surprised to find that Uluki has rather warmed up to her next time they speak, if they do speak again.
I mean, yeah, there was the whole lying to her, taking advantage of her, playing on her sympathies, and spying on her for someone who wanted to torture her to death thing.

But Uluki has also realized that Quinn "protected" her from the angel, who she was considering going to see at the time. Uluki will have decided it's all for the best, especially after Quinn's help with the Panterras situation.
So things will not be as awkward as Quinn might imagine.

I think the feeling is mutual.
I'm gonna do a responding-to-Aorle post and a finding-the-mercs post, and assume Quinn doesn't make it back to the compound until the next morning. We could do that bit in the existing thread if you like, but if Aorle does anything else tonight he'll need to do that...
Ok, thanks for that info Uluki. If Quinn is still holding on to her acquired pseudo-conscience, that might just make her feel guiltier, but worth bearing in mind.

Aw, she doesn't need to feel guilty. Emotional manipulation
is the thing that hits Uluki the hardest-- thus the hurt, as you realized-- but she'll be fine (as will Rollick, who was also a bit upset.) Anyway, it's something they can move past, and Quinn doesn't need to feel bad about.
Assuming she keeps her pseudo-conscience, of course.

That's a great description.

That's good to know.
I'm not necessarily waiting for a reply; it depends if Aorle thinks the situation needs one, but either way I can't keep up this breakneck posting speed, just because Thursday and Friday are busy days right now.

It'll be Friday night, at least, before I post.

Cool. Thanks. I think now is a good point to summarise the rest of the day and skip ahead to next morning. So, I'll do that in my post.
And thanks for the heads-up.

Hey. Sorry to be unhelpful, but I got nothing. Was there anything you wanted to do?
