Ohhh finals. Yeah. I had forgotten just how much of a pain they are. Welcome to Thar! I think quite a few of us are currently sorta taken up by finals, but things should get a lot busier here in a week or two. In the meantime, as Katona said, don't be afraid to hop into chat or even ask any questions you might have in player communication!

I'm new (well I'm not called 'new', well um. My name is Tash! ^^ )
I'm currently in the process of making my character- which I find really enjoyable. Just want to say hello and prove my existence.
I would really love to develop my character and improve my writing skills (like the time it takes me). But of course to have fun, I guess.

Improving writing skills and character development was why I first joined Thar, too. It's definitely a great goal to have! Be sure to let us know when you're ready to have your app reviewed, and please do take your time. There is never a rush! There is also chat, too (diagonal upper left of the shoutbox), which you can hop into to get to know the players better. Happy writing!

Will I thought I'd pop in really quick to say hello. I'm pretty new here and hope to meet each of you in the roleplay. After I post this little introduction I'll most likely get started on my character. Well anyways I hope to see each of you in the rp.
P.S if you can't tell by my name I'll most likely make a shifter/werewolf character...so be expecting that.

I don't think the instructions that say the character name should be the account name is in a very obvious place.

Hallo! I'm Nick, a new member at this site. So where is this "chat" that you mentioned? Is that like this forum's chatbox?
I've done some play-by-post stuff before, but have always run into problems with
1.) Godmodding by other players in fights
2.) Characters with powers that were ridiculous (I call them "godmod recipes")
3.) People that just RP for relationships and nothing else
4.) Lack of posting order
5.) Lack of cooperative fiction
6.) Metagaming
And I can't wait to RP here! It seems like we have absolutely none of that, which is great!

Well, there is A LOT of RPing for relationships. Not sure what you mean by that? Our writing is collaborative and stories typically do not move forward with out relationship building.
If you mean romantic relationships, well, there's that, too. I'm a fan of them. We do have other kinds of relationships as well. Just... yeah... rambling now...

I love medieval stuff and fantasy! I even write novels set in medieval times. I am currently trying to publish a novel I wrote in early January. My hobbies include painting, writing, and graphic designing. I design my own book covers for my novels. I haven't published a book yet so technically I'm not an author yet. But I'm hoping to publish soon
What I'm looking for in Thar:
Just some friendly RPing. I love the setting of Thar! It's so thought out and it's very inspiring to writers such as myself. I love how you guys organized the info about Thar. It makes it easier to read through everything.

I am Dumah, whom some call Magebane.
As an aspiring author with a love for all things fantasy, I must say it was quite thrill when frist I stumbbled upon your site here, and as one new to Thar Shaddin, I look forward to RPing with you all. Though it may be a bit before I submit my character Bio, as I'm still working out a few details concering his history.
A few things about me:
hmmm...well...As I said I am an aspiring fantasy author, and something of an amature cartographer (I ejoying drawing maps of made up places of my own imagining). I enjoy forum RP because it provides me an opportunity to hone my writing ability in a fun, safe, and mentally engaging enviroment. I've been working on a project for the last five years that is only just now starting to be fully relized due to a lack of research matrials and also because I chose to abandon my inintal concept cosisting of the typical elves and dwarves type fantasy in favor of creating a world with races of my own design. Though truth be told, I've since found that even my supposedly "original" races are a bit derivative of other things I've seen and read. So I suppose there's some truth to the old addaged "The is nothing new to man under the sun."
Anyways, that's quite enough of my bellyacheing and I'll not bore you furthur, other than to say, farewell for now and may ye all have a pleasent tomorrow.

And, the Setting essentials
The setting is very fleshed out, so building a first character that will go well in the setting and aligned with new player expectations (ours of new players) is a good plan before branching out.
