There was a light patter as Illilli lighted on the top of the warehouse. The seedy guard below ignored the sound taking it to be that of a large rat, which were quite common in the area.
Illilli was a dark and tiny form of blackness perched on the roof as she waited for Geldenwing. Her normally bright white-silver scales and purplish markings were burried under a greasy black concoction made of deer-fat and charcoal from the fireplace. A tiny nap-sack was strapped to her back. It didn't look as though it could hold much.
Tiny fangs appeared over Illilli's lips as the tiny dragoness contemplated what she was about to do. She'd never stolen before but she was conviced that it wouldn't take much to set up the cavernous hideout with the few conviences she and her companions would need to be rather comfortable. Besides, she made sure that this was one of the more corrupt traders in town. Should the warehouse come up missing a few trinkets, what could they do without blowing their own cover?
It was for a good cause after all. The boy Ander definatly needed some new clothes and they all needed a few more creature comforts to get established in the wonderous cavern Geldenwing had led them.
"A bigger cook pot, some containers, decent bedding, clean clothes..."she mumbled in a bare whisper.
"foodstuffs... kitchen things...mmm... Soap..." She thought of this one as the black paste she had smeared on herself caused a slight itch.
She hushed as she scanned the night sky for Geldenwing.

Only a few miles out of town, Gelden finally changed sizes. It wasn't hard, but it wasn't easy, either. She twitched her nose and fluffed her hair, trying to remember just how to do it. She didn't change sizes too much anymore. Being human-size led to making friends, which led to leaving friends.
She shook her head and snorted. Silly thoughts for a silly night. She had work to do!
She closed her eyes and thought small. It took two tries, and the second time she opened her eyes and saw a blade of grass standing over her head.
She grinned, feeling smart and special. Time to steal.
She'd kept behind Illilli, walking or running through the woods as her mood changed from wary to bright to pensive to giggly. She'd stolen things hundreds of times, and she considered it an adventure with big people. Big people always made such a fuss over little things!
Now, she flitted through the air, riding gusts of wind or wind currents or even small eddies through the air. She spun, she twirled, she glided and she danced along the wind's breezes, airy and uplifted as she always felt in this size. She loved being a faerie; she loved fluttering about like a linear dragonfly; she loved...where was Illilli?
The faerie stopped in mid-air, hovering as she scanned through. She'd unconsciously kept a beat on the dragon lady while she flew, but now that she was paying attention, she'd lost the other one.
"Now this won't do," she muttered, and grabbed the teardrop amulet around her neck, willing it to come alive, as she always tried. It never did awaken, but she would never stop trying.
"Illilli?"
She whispered, and her tiny voice just barely carried a few feet in front of her. She raised her voice to a theatrical whisper then, and still not satisfied, resorted to a little shout.
"Illilli! I've lost you!"

"Illilli! I've lost you!"
Illilli started and slid off the roofing tiles when Geldenwing's shout echoed up from the fringe of trees.
"Eeek!" she sqeaked as she rolled over the edge and snapped her little wings open with a light rustling sound. She flapped her way straight up into the sky where she might be a bit more visible to Geldenwing.
"Geld, over here..." her voice piped as she circled in the air searching for Geldenwing.
The cool night air was rather nice to turn dips and twirls in the light breeze, but Illilli was getting worried. They may have to find a different place to hit since the guard appeared to be getting a little concerned about a wierd bird circling over the warehouse.
"Go Away stupid little bird..." the guard at the door was obviously not picked for his brains, but most likely for his aggressiveness.
"Crap!" Illilli squeaked as a rock came with in a few inches of her fragile wings.
"Geld!" she shrilled dodging another small missle.

Gelden spotted her scaly friend just as another flying projectile whizzed past the small dragon. Instantly the faerie was alight with rage; how dare that guard do such a thing! How dare he!
And she would let him hear it!
"Why you big meanieface...mean person!"
The tiny fae zipped straight into the man's face, stopping mere millimeters from his nose, all anger.
"I suggest you stop this instant!"
The guard looked disoriented for a moment, his depth perception struggling to understand that the female in front of him was, in fact, directly in front of him. While the faerie continued scolding him for such rude behavior, it dawned on him that as a real live faerie, this creature was oozing magic from its very pores.
The local ingrained hatred/distrust of such creatures set in, and gave the man real purpose. This creature didn't belong, and on top of that, was small and annoying. Like a pesky fly that could talk.
His hand shot through the air in a very real attempt to knock the faerie to the ground. Gelden shot out of reach, but only just in time, and the wind current from the man's hand made her swirl in the air for a moment before she regained control.
The nerve!
"How dare you! You could've killed me! You...fly away! Fly away!"
Gelden shot into the air as the guard took another and another swipe in earnest, then reached to his side and produced the most sinister weapon man ever created: a slingshot. The faerie zipped by Illilli at her fastest speed, grabbing the dragon's tail as she passed with the full intention of dragging her dragon friend along. If Illilli resisted, well...it wouldn't take long for an experienced shooter like this guard seemed to be to get a bullseye!

"Oh What a bastard! He's got a slingshot!" Illilli nosed back along her body and tried to place her body between Geldenwing and the ass on the ground.
A hissing noise denoted the rapid passing of a rock near by. It would not be long before he got their range.
Illilli focused hard on changing to her larger winged form, the itches ran rampant along her markings as the adrenaline kicked up her form change.
Zing-Splat!
"SON OF A FREAKING BITCH!" Illilli roared into the night.
Illilli had managed to get into her larger, naked, form just in time for the warehouse guard to score an incredibly painful bulls-eye directly in the center of her left buttcheek. She reflexivly rubbed the already livid bruise forming in the silver-white expanse of her ass. It was quite clear that she wouldn't be sitting comfortably for a while. A small trickle of blood showed from where the rock broke her skin in the middle of the bruise.
The guard swallowed and oggled at the flesh that giggled with every wingbeat Illilli took to remain aloft. Flying without clothing may make an interesting display, but it wasn't particularly comfortable for Illilli.
"Oh thats it... I have half a mind go back there and...." she shrieked and prepared to circle back around.

"Eeeeeeek!!!"
Geldenwing's tinny shriek rang out through the night as Illilli swung around, apparently intent on attacking their would-be attacker. Of course, the male was standing, eyeing the...assets...flopping about before him, but within moments he would awake from such thoughts to realize that a dragon-like female was sloping down toward him.
Gelden had no idea how this town felt about dragons in particular, but she knew that they definitely hated people who could shift forms in any way. If Illilli attacked this man, it might bring the whole city down around their ears - and if their haven in the woods was to remain safe, they needed to remain at least somewhat inconspicuous.
"Lily, no!"
The faerie grabbed the tip of her dragoness friend's swooshing tail, and found herself along for a ride as the tail swooped this way and that. She let go to spin away into the night, waited the entire world to stop spinning so crazily, and then launched herself back into the "fray." This time, she tried the more direct approach of flying in front of her friend's face and placing both hands against the dragon lady's nose in an attempt to hold her back.
"They'll hunt us down! Stop!"

The tugging on her tail told Illilli that she needed to stop and pay attention. Flying into the tree cover she sat and threw a brief temper tantrum over how stupid she had been behaving.
Apparently going for the warehouses wasn't going to work. Illilli hated to do it but Geldenwing pressed home the fact that they had a real need for the stuff.
When she thought about it, it was really quite easy to fly down a chimminy or in an open window. Small goods stores were alot more organized as well. Another bonus was that many weren't left guarded.
The night was spent aquiring a large sack which she filled with assorted linens, a large armful of soft fluffy towels, a small sack of cleaning rags and some tableware. Of the two shops that Illilli visited, she came away with 3 sets of simple silverware, 3 sturdy earthen-ware bowls, and 3 lovely cobalt blue glass chalices. These were carefully packed, using the cleaning rags, with some cooking utensils into a large 5 quart cook pot. A spool of sewing thread, ten yards of a light tan linen fabric and one spool of lace thread were tossed in on top of the lot.
While pilfering, Illilli added another pound of lavendar-scented soap and a brick of plain soap for good measure. She paused a moment and added a small block of lemon-mint scented soap because she thought that the perky scent would be fitting for Geldenwing.
Each time she lifted goods from a shop she was careful to take things from behind the displays and when she left she took the time to set the goods outside, lock the back door and leave through the chiminy.
Let them chew on that, she thought as she lifted clumsily into the air with her booty. It was going to be a long flight back to the cave with a couple rest stops.
