((umm, it's not, but welcome anyways))

He fell, the bags weighing him down even more, making him fall like a rock. As he had planned, he let himself fall. He would not die here, not with this girl in his arms. His dagger came out in a flash as the stones on the ground got larger and larger. Sparks shot out as he slipped the enchanted blade into the solid rock, turning it so, even with the enchantment, he'd still be slowed considerable. His feet touched the ground gently and without a sound. "First floor: weapons, underwear, and fine china" he muttered to himself jokingly, quickly slipping his dagger back into it's sheath, and running as fast as he could into the shadows.

He didn't know why, but he always felt safer in the darkness of the shadows, feeling them bend and wrap around him, concealing him from prying eyes. And as any onlookers would notice, the shadows felt the same way, because they litteraly wrapped around him, hidding them as well as anything. It was stranged, but the bard had never once realized that when he hid in the shadows, that the shadows actively hid him. Strange....

Kamar watched the controlled fall from his shadowy perch, a half smile playing across his lips as he watched the sparks erupt from the building as the dagger dug in. He watched until the man hit the ground, looking like he had jumped from a few feet up, instead of several hundred.

As the man seemed to vanish into the shadows, Kamar's eyebrows lifted.

Another shadow player? Haven't seen one of those since... He immediately cut the thought off.

While still watching the general vicinity of where the man disappeared, Kamar stood, allowing himself to be silhouetted in the early morning light. He raised his hands and clapped loudly in appreciation of the show.

"Well done, my good man. Well done!" he shouted, mirth evident in his voice. He finished clapping and waved the man along, assuming that the fellow could still see him from wherever he was now.

"Get along now, before these unconcious fellows wake!"

And with a swirl of robes, Kamar spun away, jogging across the rooftop. He paused at the back of the building, picked out a likely spot, and leapt from the building. He slowed himself during the 20 foot fall by catching at various protrusions along the wall, then landed nimbly. He took a quick glance around, then strode confidently to the shadows of a nearby alleyway.

Now to get back to my sleeping place for the day.
You’re gonna find out you’re already dead, and I was the world coming down on your head.

Fading

Post by Ryalyn Kylana » Thu Apr 13, 2006 6:23 am

(( sorry >.< for some reason i keep losing track of time. Makes me wonder if I'm in some sort of time warp or something :( ))

As far as she was concerned, Rya was in a whirl of swirling blackness as deep as the darkest night. Occasionally she got a glimmered glimpse of the waking world, but hardly enough to tell much of what was going on. She vaguely felt as if she might be moving, carried perhaps. And she thought she sensed Ayden stiffen and grow angry briefly. But all she was truly aware of was Ayden's sweet, soothing voice in her head telling her all was well and that he would take care of her. Any curious or worried thoughts were easily tossed aside....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The drop was thrilling enough though hardly anything compared to Ayden's experiences as a peregrine falcon. All the same, he was still greatly concerned for his sleeping counterpart. Fortunately, the man seemed to know what he was doing since they landed well and with quite a flourish of whispered words and careful movement. Heh, elves ... he thought with a snicker, always showing off. Coincidentally it happened that he snickered at the same time Heratio muttered under his breath.

Getting a creepy feeling quite suddenly Ayden carefully peered out of his hiding place. He felt as if they were being watched by a different eye. He hardly even noticed the shadow play that Heratio naturally gathered about him. Shadows were of an element somewhat similar to his own. Rather, he was much more interested in the clapping and the voice who's echo followed them into the shadows. A flash of fierce anger and protectiveness filled him.

"Who was that?!" he asked, rather alarmed and none to worried about hiding it. His voice was tinged with a growl that warned of his fierce emotions. The least they needed right now was someone else on their tail.

His eyes darted out behind them, catching sight of a silhouette on the rooftops but it disappeared just as quickly as he spotted it. Right then, however, it didn't really matter. All the fur on Ayden's body rose and he let out a low, barely audible growl in warning as he sensed Rya's spell fading behind them. The men were beginning to wake up....

"An onlooker, nothing to be worried about" Horation said, barily missing a beat as he ran flat out, the shadows having a hard time following him as he seemed to float along the allies and backstreets. He didn't even turn and bow to the vouyer, which was most uncharacteristic. All the bard was worried with now was getting to one of the many safe houses bards had set up throughout the city. He could sence Rya's confussion, but was happy that Ayden was taking care of it. Now was not the time for complications.

Soon he found his way to a rather rotted and unremarkable door in one of the more shady parts of the city, and he stopped there. He reached out and, instead of going for the handle, reached upwards and pressed the stone just above the doorway. The wall behind them suddenly folded into itself, clearing the way into a long hall. Horatio sped into it and, after muttering something under his breath, let the wall seal back up. The hall wasn't really that long, although by looking at it one would think much to the contrary. 'A simple trick of the light' Horatio reminded himself, stopping just before the door on the other end, nearly slaming head-first into it. He turned the nob, muttering something else under his breath, and stepped into a rather nicely-lit room. 'Just the place for a bard and his guests to rest.' he thought happily.

A Rude Awakening

Post by Ryalyn Kylana » Sat Apr 15, 2006 3:56 am

Ayden did not answer Heratio but simply kept an eye out for any trouble. The least he could do was warn Heratio. Fortunately they didn't run into any trouble. In fact, he felt much relieved when they reached the hiding place. Suddenly sensing something that made his fur bristle, he fled Rya's pocket just in time....

-----------------------

Rya's unconscious mind became aware of something subtly prying at the edge of her mind but couldn't tell just what it was. All she knew was that something was wrong. Something had changed without her knowledge.

With a rather violent push, her subconscious mind broke the barrier of sleep that Ayden and her weakened state had imposed upon her. Her senses came flooding back almost painfully, causing her whole body to jerk fully awake, instinctively attempting to struggle out of Heratio's arms. She was too shocked to fully realize what was going on. To her, everything she had sensed in her previous state only felt like a dream, causing her to feel alarmed when she finally woke.

Wolfhound leapt across the roofs, landing in a crouch, his eyes darted around, nose in the air trying to catch a hint in the air of the Assassins whereabouts. There, the stench made him flinch made him want to gag. 'The smell of blood always gives them away. Might need the wolves for this one. A mage as well as an assassin. The two things I hate most in one person, I’m gunna really enjoy this one'. He let out a loud growling laugh that filled the immediate area.

There was another smell around, three people together, he looked around but couldn’t see them. Worrying, for someone with almost perfect night vision. Wolfhound backed into the shadows, ready to pounce if something happened. He knew the two wolves that followed him probably were as well. He drew a knife, trying to find out where the smell came from, but it seemed to be getting further away.'Probably no problem then, if it becomes one, I’ll think of something'.He eased him self from the shadows, picking up the assassins scent again, it was disgusting, the worst part of hunting them. 'A constant need to retch.' He shook the thought away, 'need to get going. 'He looked towards the direction the assassin seemed to have gone, and followed.

Horatio looked down and almost dropped the girl in his arms, but then simply resided to let her down on one of the large beanbag chairs. It would seem that most bards in the area had the same sense of style, because the room was, if not a bit smaller, extremily similar to the loft Horatio had just left. The only real difference was that it was darker, lit only by a large fire in the center of the room. There wasn't anyone else there, but it looked as if someone had kept it in perfect condition.

"Calm down, you're safe here" Horatio said to the flailing girl, as his hand moved quickly to protect a rather sensative area between his legs from being hit by her hands, "No, really, settle down." He then set, or dropped, whichever you perfer, their bags down on the ground and took the seat next to her.

Eerie Calm

Post by Ryalyn Kylana » Thu Apr 20, 2006 5:48 am

Heratio's voice startled her and she practically fell into the chair off balance. She looked around rather frantic at first but forced down her jangled nerves. "Sorry," she said shiftily as Ayden, climbing up the back of the chair in his serval form and slid down her shoulder and into her lap, spreading calm in his wake. She absently stroked his head as she drank in her surroundings. It did not take long for her to calm herself and she soon had that careless look about her, her gaze drifting around the room, finally resting on Heratio, eerily calm, almost thoughtful.

"I was unaware that we had left. I don't really remember anything since I fell unconscious ..." Her gaze dropped to Ayden in her lap who was basking in her scratching his ears. "And this one here wasn't much help in that. It's not like he kept me up to speed on the situation."

"You were unconscious," he purred luxuriously. "It's not like you would have understood anyway." She protested but he cut her off, "-and if you had, well, you would have woken up now wouldn't you. And we couldn't have that now could we." His voice was sweetly sarcastic. But she knew he was right. She would have understood but it would have woken her up from her much needed rest.

"And now that we are away it seems that the energy still being drained from you by that spell wore off once we got far enough away. Granted, those men did wake up somewhat as a result .... But I'm sure we must have escaped them for now." He eyed her carefully, sensing any response from her. Frankly, she wasn't surprised. It was as if a tension had been lifted from her. The spell was something she had very little knowledge of. Taelon would not have been so pleased that she had used advanced magic so carelessly and without the knowledge. Not to mention she apparently had used a gift of her people. It might lead whoever was following her right to them here in the city if they didn't already know. To be sure, she was not certain that those men had anything to do with the silent shadowy presence that had been following them since they fled Taelon's manner.

Bending forward thoughtfully, she pulled her quiver and rucksack toward her and up onto her lap, Ayden fleeing to drape himself around her shoulders as an ermine, watching her riffle through her stuff. Her movement caused something heavy around her neck to shift about. It was the pendant Heratio had put around her neck, slightly entangled in the chain of her own pendant. Catching it in her hand and carefully untangling it, her brow furrowed as she looked at it.

"What's this?"

Horatio, who at that moment was slowly dozing into a much needed rest of hisown, lifted his eyelids and smiled at her. "It's a pendant, one of the many trinkets I had back at the loft. It'll shield you from whatever it is that's tracking you. That little medalion is basicly the only thing that made the journey here a relatively uneventful one." He said with a small smirk. Now, under normal circumstances, a bard would have given anyone any little trinket if it had a practical use and the need for said use was great, so something like this was not uncommon. But even still, this bard thought to himself, It does look great on her.

The pendant itself was rather maticulously crafted, the image of a serpant-dragon coiling and wrapping itself around a staff with a pair of wings at the top, the symbol of the one of Hermes, the god of the crossroads and of magic. But those gods were long forgotten, and Horatio himself only learned about it when he had stumbled apon the ancient temple of the winged one. This perticular pendant was rather special, because although the winged staff was what we out of game refer to as greek, the dragon was of eastern decent. A rather powerful trinket indeed.

The bard, after musing a bit on the necklass and it's new owner, looked into the flames of the bonfire in the middle of the room. Now new questions creeped into his mind. First of all, who was after her? Secondly, why? It was odd, and it seemed like it'd only get worse. But, in the grand scheme of things, that just ment this would be interesting.

Trinkets

Post by Ryalyn Kylana » Fri Apr 28, 2006 11:30 pm

Rya frowned and dropped the necklace she held so that it dangled loosely around her neck. She didn't like the sounds of the bard's last comment at all. We cannot stay ... she thought sadly to her companion who was still curled warmly around her neck. Ayden's forest green eyes glinted in the firelight as he watched Heratio quietly. I know, he responded, a tint of thoughtfulness lingering in his mental voice.

We're too much of a burden to this poor man, she continued to say, staring perplexedly into the flames of the hearth.

Quite. Ayden commented unperturbed. But where do you intend to go?

Absentmindedly, Rya reached up and scratched Ayden behind the ears. He purred contentedly in her ear and nuzzled her neck. I don't know. I haven't really thought of it.... It seems to me that the best thing would be not to think. If we pre-planned anything we risk it being exposed. Best to be random ... Don't you think?

Ayden was enjoying her administrations so much that for an instant she though he wasn't paying attention. But that though was brushed aside as he mentally muttered, Perhaps ...

Sighing Rya leaned back into the chair and curled her feet under her, making herself comfortable while Ayden remained draped on her shoulders, a nice neck warmer. She could tell that the bard would soon fall asleep. Once he did, perhaps she and Ayden should strike off on their own. Until then, however, she closed her eyes and rested.

Horatio, on the boarders of contiousness, looked at Rya and Ayden. His mind wandered a bit, and he could sense the uneasyness of his guests. It didn't take much thought to know what they were thinking to eachother. "Don't worry" he muttered, loud enough so that the two could hear him, "you're no burden at all. And if you were, i'd tell you. Trust me on that" he said with a playfull, half-sleeping chuckle, then curled up into a little ball. He couldn't help but enjoy having company. And then his eyes shot open, and he bolted upright. "Wait," he said, now fully awakened, "We have yet to have that drink." In his semi-awakened sleep, he was a little less them capable of logical thought. But, a drink seemed like a nice idea at the time, and it would relax them both. "Would you like a drink?" He couldn't help but ask, it was his gentlemanly way.

Not Particularly

Post by Ryalyn Kylana » Thu May 11, 2006 7:25 pm

Ryalyn, still scratching behind Ayden's ears paused as she wrinkled her nose. She didn't much care for alcoholic beverages. In fact, she often found it difficult to understand why others did.

"Well, not particularly. . . ." she said, uncertainly but attempting not to be rude continued, smiling kindly at Heratio, "But something . . . non-alcoholic would be fine."

Ayden stubbornly butted his head against her hand in an attempt to get her attention again, chuckling at her in the back of her mind as he did so. She batted him away playfully, turning her narrowed crystalline eyes on him as she did so. Eventually, she gave in, scratching behind Ayden's ears again. He purred in her ear sleepily. She felt drowsy as well as he began to pull her into sleep with him. He had apparently decided to stay for awhile and she trusted his judgement.

Heratio

The bard smiled, then, reaching into a chest a few inches away from him, pulled out a rather nice glass bottle with what seemed to be a glowing blue liquid and two small glasses. After pouring the strange liquid into the two cups, he offered Rya hers and took up his. "To another day, and another story" he said with a smile, reciting an old bard saying. And with that, he took the whole glass down in a gulp and smiled. "Serathian Ale, better than any earthly ambrosia, and without the drugy after affects. All except for a slight wave of euphoria." He poured himself another glass, giggling under his breath for the reason above, and lifted it once again to the girl across from him and her pet/companion/shapeshifter/annoying-cat-rat-lemur-thingy.

Wait, Horatio then thought to himself, didn't i not want to get involved? And after a few moments of thinking about this, he shrugged it off as divine intervention.

Rya took the glass hesitantly, looking with bright eyes into her glass. Ayden smoothly stretched forth his head from her shoulder and sniffed her glass, his green eyes gleaming softly. After a moment he settled himself back on her shoulder, his eyes shutting lazily, apparently satisfied that the substance wouldn't harm his companion. Accepting Ayden's judgement Rya took a small sip. It tasted alright and did make her feel a little better but she still had difficulty trusting a substance that could alter one's state. She merely tilted her head thoughtfully at the man's toasts.

Looking away she settled into the chair a bit more comfortably, resting her hands that grasped her glass in her lap and staring silently into the fire. The flickering light mingled with the glow of her own eyes, making them glow with a vivid purplish fire. Her dark hair fell about her face and shoulders, wisps of it framing her face delicately. She sat this way for quite some time, unmoving, thinking. The smell of the liquid wafted to her nose as she thought, reminding her of ... something ... something she couldn't quite place. The sensation confused her, worried her, and intrigued her. It made her wonder, what was it that she couldn't remember?

((*does a happy dance* YAY!!!))

Horatio watched as Rya gazed into the fire. He couldn't help but find her stunning. He then closed his eyes and focused hard. He couldn't get too connected, that would make things much too complicated. Then he opened his eyes. He might not want to get too connected, but he could enjoy how beautiful she was. He leaned a bit farther back, then began to wonder what she was thinking. Something in her eyes was.....deep. It seemed as if she were reaching deep into her mind. Or atleast contemplating the meaning of life. Which oddly triggered the Bard's mind into the same sort of contemplation. Why was he here? Why were they here? Why was he here with her? What was his lady's plan for him being here with this woman?
