Nearly all our prep can be summarised with no problems. Do you have any preference what you would like the thread began with?

Re: Lightsword Saga
Yep, she will, thanks.So...I'm figuring Uluki will probably have something to say in reply to Kaydee, so I didn't have Kaydee go find Dash yet.
Kaydee has some very valid points, and will add to Uluki's confusion about the right thing to do.
If that thread ends up getting ahead in time, it shouldn't be a problem on my end. My characters have had their action for the day, and any remaining drama will be interpersonal and shouldn't involve Julen or Karsimir. Also, if Rail wants to get started with preparations for Shim, I think we should start a new thread for that.

I think it's one of those situations where there really is no totally "right" thing to do. But hey, ambiguity=angst!Lylessa Uluki wrote:Kaydee has some very valid points, and will add to Uluki's confusion about the right thing to do.
As for the preparations for Shim, I really wouldn't know where to begin, so I'll let Rail take the lead there. Julen and various NPCs can jump in as needed.

I actually don't have a clue. This may turn out to be one of those things that was a really good idea, IC...Railtus Anstrun wrote:Thowwy, Karsimir Von Greyssen IC from now on, Fred OOC.
EDIT: Do you have any plans with where you want the story to go? Or is Quinn going to go do her own thing? Any way we can help include you?
Ideally, I guess, somebody would play Snyde and his gang? That's if anyone has time while Shim is going down.
I'm gonna go check who played him before because I forgot. Or did anyone play him?
If there's no one to be Snyde I could just do scenes on my own and sometimes interact with people back at the compound. I dunno.

Re: Lightsword Saga
Before he left, Kamar was playing Snyde (one of the previous moderators here), Mavarion was one of his other characters, initially intended to be Krev's mentor.
I could play Snyde, although at a very slow rate - there are some issues that I would struggle with writing (his attitude towards women and stuff like that), but I am willing to try my best.
Alternatively I could develop his gang in an entirely seperate direction and focus on creating some underlings of my own, or Snyde could have hired mercenaries of his own...
PM me with anything you wish included.
Or you could speak with Lyl about anything you want to get involved with inside the compound.

Re: Lightsword Saga
Heh, Rail beat me to it. But here's my reply anyway.
I'm going to be pretty busy writing Julen in Shim and NPCs back at the compound, so I'm really not up to handling the remains of Snyde's gang as well. Lyl? Rail?
Also, while I have no problems with Quinn and the Moneyswords clashing with Snyde's gang, I would prefer it if no one actually killed Snyde. After Julen returns from Shim, I think he and Rosemary will be having a final encounter with Snyde (Jenica has kindly offered to play Snyde for us at that point).
If Quinn just wants to hang around the compound during Shim, Lyl has made sure that there will be PLENTY going on.
"Mavarion" aka "Kamar" aka" Dave". Played Snyde at my request, but left Thar about six months ago. We've been given permission to write Snyde in his absence.Quinn wrote:ETA: Ookay, who's Mavarion?

Re: Lightsword Saga
Jess was considering playing Snyde with Jules later, as Jules said, so you could consider talking to her as well. I'm not sure if she'll want to or be able to right now, but at the very least, you might want to discuss things just to get on the same page and avoid plot conflicts with stuff that's in the works for later.
I'm also happy to play NPCs for you, whether you want to interact with my existing ones or you want me to play something specific to your plot. I'm very willing to create characters for you.
The only thing is that Uluki and her immediate family are going to be pretty occupied with some stuff that's quite important, so I'm not saying they couldn't interact with Quinn at all, but depending on the timing and the situation they may not always be able to give talking with her top priority. So I wouldn't suggest making interacting with them a major part of your plans, as you may end up getting quite bored since they'll be busy.
However, like I said, I'm willing to play other NPCs for you.

Re: Lightsword Saga
I wanted to clarify what I mentioned above, but didn't want to just edit in case you'd read it already.
There are several things going on during Shim, as I laid out a couple of OOC posts back. There's going to be some general turmoil in the compound among the anti-fairy crowd, who will expand the things they're anti, and Quinn could certainly be involved in that whole situation. In fact, it's the sort of intrigue that seems to suit her.
The other thing that's going on will be primarily a family issue, and that would be something that I can't so much involve Quinn in. Based on past events the family doesn't trust her, and so wouldn't really be able to process their emotions in front of her. And processing their emotions is the crucial element of that whole subplot. I think that's going to have to be a situation for family and closer friends.
So Quinn could easily be involved in stuff around the compound, as well as what's going on with Snyde in the shanty town. That's one possibility I meant with "other NPCs." It's just that given what I'm doing with Uluki and Rollick, they aren't really free to spend the whole time talking with her, because they have stuff they really need to deal with.
And that was all clear in my mind, but failed to make it into my post. Maybe that'll help give you some ideas about what to do?

Re: Lightsword Saga
Okay, I think ICly it would be best to go with the gang fighting plotline - so if Rail feels like doing a bit of a bad guy, that would be great and if doing two plotlines slows one down it just gives me more time, which I need to write for five people anyway.
So if you could do that, that would be awesome.
I'm probably not going to be able to post until Sunday night/Monday morning, so I'll wait till then to extract Quinn from the compound.

I'm happy to, but PM me some more information about the kind of stuff you have in mind please. Re: Lightsword Saga
FYI, "Strategic Regret" has been moved to the Pal Tahrenor forum - this is to more properly represent that the mercenary camps are roughly 5-20 miles outside the village, rather than outright overrunning the place.
I have also editted some bits which are disruptive (I will fully admit to having screwed up in places there).
Frug has mentioned wanting to do something with Belatucadrus about a mercenary group, as well as some assistance from the Guard, depending on how much time he has himself. Depending on our relative posting speeds, I think one thing we should find is a scene of Bela's handiwork and gory carnage at the site of a mercenary gathering.

Re: Lightsword Saga
So I was reading over the Setting stuff, and some information about the shanty town struck me.
But I was thinking it would be cool to have a few refugees of the more non-human variety show up. I'm hesitant to turn any of the existing refugees into non-humans since it realistically would have come up by now, especially given the whole Fairy situation being an issue. I don't think the other races would have just gone unnoticed by everyone.
Would you guys mind if during Shim, some other refugees trickled in? I've talked to Frug a bit about which races should be included, so I think we could get a more accurate cross-section of the shanty town population.
The most obvious explanation for this trickle-in would be that these shanty town residents are aware of both the attack on Snyde's interests and that several people left the shanty town with Uluki and company, so the compound is presumably at least relatively friendly to non-humans, since the blue chick is an employee.
I don't think it makes sense to change the refugees we already have into non-humans, but do you guys care if I (or we, if you guys are so inclined, but I don't want to make you feel obligated to join my madness) add some non-human refugees during Shim?
Almost all of the shanty town refugees at the compound up till now have been human, with the exception of Finella. That makes sense given the refugees so far have been mostly related to Snyde's operations, and he could have stuck with fellow humans himself. The ruins are delineated by an old wall and on the western part of the wall, towards the city, dwell the city's outcasts. Downtrodden, filthy, unemployed and often criminals of the non-human races, the people of this shanty town make their living selling knick knacks and illegal goods.

I think I'm already playing as many refugees as I can keep straight in my head. But if you want to add some non-humans to the mix, then that would be cool. Go for it!

Re: Lightsword Saga
Certainly. Sounds good to me.
Elves among the women Snyde kept would be very plausible.
A request from me is for part-trolls, I picture them fitting very well into the community at Fain/Liechtenheim, and helping with the labour aspect.
On a more general note; due to the culture of Marn, I could see many non-humans (currently treated as 2nd class citizens) and underground mages wanting to join us when we leave the city.

Re: Lightsword Saga
I agree, I'm just wondering if it's going to be a problem what we haven't mentioned it prior to this point. If it's not an issue, we can assume some Elves and half-Elves are already at the compound.Elves among the women Snyde kept would be very plausible.
One general question that I've never quite been able to figure out-- how many refugees came back in the raid on Snyde, and what is our current total? I mean, minus any future non-human additions. What did you guys have in mind for numbers?
No problem. I'll be sure to write a couple in, and then more can show up before we leave for Fain, too.A request from me is for part-trolls, I picture them fitting very well into the community at Fain/Liechtenheim, and helping with the labour aspect.
Yep, I agree. I'm going to keep the number of additional refugees who come to the compound on the smallish side just for convenience, but I'm sure some more people will want to join us before we leave the city, and that makes a lot of sense. On a more general note; due to the culture of Marn, I could see many non-humans (currently treated as 2nd class citizens) and underground mages wanting to join us when we leave the city.
