The Damkol are a race inhabiting the southeastern, lowlands of Ayana. They had no part in the changers war, nor any of their western counter parts squabbles. They are a very Spartan-like race and every man excels in his ability to fight, hunt, and survive.
Their Culture is deeply aligned with the elements, especially Fire, since that is where their god resides. The woman of their race are the Craftsman, Blacksmiths, architects, and political power's of their tribes. It would not be wise to start fights with the Damkol for this reason. It is the Damkols belief that they are the original race, that their blood lines are ancient and that the first Damkol stepped out of fire itself, that is why their skin is dark red. Their lore also tell's of the first Damkol to wash his body in a magical earth spring and that this spring enriched him with magic and eternal youth, and that these things would bless the race for all eternity until they became the elements themselves.
All Damkol reach a peak in maturation, and stop ageing. It is a custom that all males after reaching this point devote themselves in the schools of combat, hunting and tracking, and survival in the wild. A male Damkol fighter trains for at least 100 years before being considered masterful. Females go a different coarse, they are powerful elementalists and train in the schools of Magic, Alchemy, and Craftsmanship.
Damkols are not imortal however, and die just as easily as a human would. However many older Damkol commit suicide rather than succumb to illnesses or wounds. Their bodies are ritually burned and returned to the elements, consequently, ash is sacred to them and its a sever insult to tread on ashes in front of them.
The Damkol are the largest race in Ayana, and vastly outnumber hostile outer tribes, preventing many hostility's. However, many Damkol go on war treks for 50 or so years roaming northern territories starting fights and and provoking attack in the wild lands.
The average Damkol will always have long black hair, and gold eyes. they are usually average to taller in stature and both male and female wear lots of jewelry.
