Eyropa

Post by Frug » Sat Sep 13, 2008 7:47 pm

I sent out a PM with this info and thought it would be best to throw it up here and start using this forum. If you have any ideas about a part of Eyropa (naming and designing city or religion for example) toss it up here and we'll discuss it.

The following is what I've got on Eyropa (which was called Caelteth Eyrop but that struck me as too hard to say and I liked the shorter version much more). It's not in the setting section of the website, yet:

It's designed to be much like medieval Europe, except that there is a unifying power that joins all of the regions together to form the empire of Eyropa. They do have differences and disputes, but warring between provinces wouldn't happen. Assumedly they have a large council of some kind with a diplomat to represent each province.

Since the elves are from Darleone Island, and Dwarves are from the northern regions of Eyropa, those would be the second and third most prominent races, after humans.

Of course, all of Eyropa was once under the control of Theogios, and the primary religions there would worship him. Some would be Puradynes, like we have in Thar Shaddin, only the Puradynes in Eyropa are more strict than Marnians. The ones in Eyropa hate magic of any kind, and unlike Marnians don't make exceptions for people like battlemages. However, the ones in Eyropa also don't have any real power, and are a minority.

The part of Eyropa that spans the northern half of Africa has been somewhat written about in Ra'nali's profile. It's essentially Egyptian, with shifter jackals and such. Keltaris is the most prosperous city in Eyropa, and is currently being written about and developed while I write it with Jasmina here:
viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1836

Zheltev is on the northwestern perimeter of Eyropa, and is were Gia's character is from. It's described as a haven of sorts for shifters (werewolves like herself).

I also wanted to throw out there that Maeve is originally from Eyropa. The forest where she grew up is somewhere in Eyropa, but I never specified where. That forest is a large community of dryads so I expect it would be rather well-known to people in the area (though not the entire world). Perhaps if it is important enough I will pinpoint where it is. Thankfully, my charrie's profile meshes with this Eyropan background, because she was treated harshly by people in general until she learned to fit in, because she is magical and spoke the soft, lilting language of the dryads.

I've also had an idea just now. Could we have a more indepth section for Races? Maybe not in the setting or rules pages, but on the forums somewhere. That way people could post their unique races and inform people about what they are like. And people could expand on certain peoples from certain areas, like I could write about what the dryads where Maeve is from are like. (Other dryads might be different.) Or else we can do that in this subforum, but I wasn't sure if you'd want to allow that. Might get crowded.

For now I think putting it in this subforum will be good. If it gets too full I can move the racial threads somewhere else in the future.

Posting it up on the website is viable too. I can have a 'more...' button or something under the races that get too much additional info.

I think the "more" button should read "Beeficate my brainishness with über-detailification of the above topicore"

...Why did I understand that?

Sounds good to me. I'll probably be bored enough to write up crap about the Dryads...

Then the button matter is decided! Glad we could reach a consensus so quickly. I look forward to beeficating a multitude of topicores through your l33t web design Phillyskillz.

Due to my new avatar of hawtness, I'm exploring the possibility of border skirmishes between provinces that don't like each other, handily blamed on marauding bands of marauders and other icky folk who are non-citizens as skeezy politicians do the duke-it-out dance on the council floor or whatever heebity they do. You'll see it in Vexako's app, but I figured I'd ask more formally here. :P More questions to come later. >>

I suggest that the Emperor's Advisory Council be made up of Delegates from each Thar within the Eyropan empire, with the senior most delegate being the ruler, or governor, of each individual thar, with other noble sorts under them. Also, are they each called thars or provinces? That was confusing me...

THREAD REVIVAL TIME, YAY!

Since Eyropa is experiencing something of a revival with Corezo RPs kicking off and the possibilities of political RPs involving the Advisory Council and related political manoeuvring, I was hoping we could look at updating the list of provinces

Here are the ones I am aware of from the Wiki and World DevList of Provinces in Eyropa. I've added forum links where they exist.

The list seems to be almost complete, as it is, merely missing some demarcations and province names for central Eyropan areas and a province or three for the continent north of the Great Scar, which I've referred to as 'Semerkhet area'

- Corezo - http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=3159
- Greece - http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=2413

- Apthoni - http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=2466
- Semerkhet Area?

I'm reviving the thread to assist in helping folks wanting to work on world dev for Eyropa. It would be handy to have (or make) a complete list of all the large provinces of the Eyropan Empire.

So awesome to see the provinces coming along nicely with the contest at http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=3275 underway.

But something else came to my attention which I think needs addressing.

There is a character CRITICAL to the social and political fabric of Eyropa which needs to be worked into the setting more formally, and I invite you all to discuss how to properly incorporate the following:

Posting in here because a) relevance, and b) awesomeness.

The contest is over, the provinces named, and Zina made a kickass map.

Now, because I'm keen to encourage people to take on the fun of fleshing out some of these provinces so I have excuses to make new characters (I want them all... ALL the characters), I'm compiling a handy list here of which ones already have an open World Dev thread at present for either brainstorming or further development.

..and by extension, which ones don't and could use some love.

That's a LOT OF EMPTY SPACES guys. Show Eyropa some love.

And we still need some brave Frug to make Prince Fruggles a reality: http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2301

(I have some vague thoughts on Tamazgha and Tinariwen, based on Amazigh and Tuareg cultures respectively, but I haven't taken the dive yet. It's still open game!)
