Age: 25
Race: Half-Human

Physical Description:
Nasku always appears as the perfect gentleman, dressed the way one should as a member of an upper class family and the way a respectable man wants to be seen by the outside world. Most of the time, he even uses tophats and canes to complete the outfit composed of a presentable suit complete with puff tie and cuff links. Not even within his own four walls is he ever seen dressed in anything other than the best attire.

The one thing in his appearance that leaves to be desired, or so some people mutter behind his back, is his white hair, which he keeps long and somewhat wild. It often sneaks into his face, giving his eyes an even more mischievous glint when he is peaking out from behind that curtain. His eyes are gray-green and they have a knack for inviting people to lose themselves in his gaze, but of course it would never occur to him to use this feat as an advantage. Not at all.

Possessions:
As a member of an upper class family with quite a bit of influence in Marn – no matter how far he has fallen from the tree – he possess considerable riches and influence, a wing of his own in the Oslun mansion with multiple servants (who double as spies, obviously), various employees in other people’s houses and businesses, rarely to these people’s knowledge. He also has a foible for anything pretty and likes acquiring them for his collection, whether for good or just for the night. The newest acquisition of his is a run-down theatre he intends to refurbish and staff with people of his choosing.

Powers or Strengths:
Tough Skin and Emotional Strength:
Hardships suffered thanks to his own family have given him the strength to, for the most part, stand above being insulted or mistreated by most people, including his family. What other people think mostly does not concern him. At least not personally. He does however enjoy doing things a little different in order to have people gasp and shake their heads over it. Not being affected by that kind of criticism makes it easy to expose himself as a target to shield others under certain circumstances. No matter how many times he is beaten down, Nasku always gets back up on his feet. He doesn’t lose himself in depression or self-doubt or self-hatred because he doesn’t know where he comes from or because his own family doesn’t love him. He just picks himself up again and keeps going.

Determined: When he’s got his mind set on something, he rarely deviates from trying to get what he wants. Course of actions may be adapted but if he wants something, then he is going to make damn sure he gets it as well.

Loyal: There are not many people who deserve his loyalty, but those who have earned it can always count on Nasku.

Weaknesses and Flaws:
Emotionally dead – almost:
Having suffered through quite a bit of rejection and knowing that whatever he does is never good enough, never satisfying enough, never what other people want him to do, he has shut down emotionally for the most part. Women, sometimes men, are merely brief pleasures and toys to be discarded shortly after use. The inability to care cripples him as much as it enables him not to care about what others think. Sometimes he wonders whether he could ever truly bring himself to love someone but he also knows that it’s a ridiculous question.

Sofi and Anya: Nasku would do anything for his sister, even if it were to get him into trouble. By extension, he risks a lot to save her best friend, Anya, as well when she’s in need.

Family: No matter how often Nasku tells himself that he does not care about his family he still tries to win their approval and rise into their good graces, even if part of that family is a father he has never met and whom he doesn't know anything about at all.

Punctual: Being punctual isn’t necessary Nasku’s strong suit and he regularly appears at least ten minutes too late to meetings. Rare are the occasions where he turns up on time.

Unknown ancestry: His mother never knew who his father was and the man has never revealed himself to Nasku. He does not know what his other half is. He only knows that he is not entirely human. While he doesn’t actively search for his father, he harbours a burning wish to meet him, or at least get some information on him.

History:
Even before he was born, Nasku was already condemned by his family members and labelled the black sheep of the Oslun tree. At a still rather tender age and at the very beginning of their marriage, Vaiselle, Nasku’s mother, slept with her husband after a wonderfully charming and romantic evening spent together. However, much to her shame and disgrace, it later turned out that it had not actually been Thomnas, but someone who had taken on the latter’s guise in order to bed and impregnate her. In a desperate attempt to reverse her mistake, Vaiselle wanted to get an abortion but Nasku’s father appeared and managed to change her mind. He was so charming and persuasive that Vaiselle agreed on keeping the baby and keeping it as safe as possible. For some reason, none of the Oslun family pushed her into getting rid of the child and begrudgingly accepted that they were going to have a bastard in their midst. Though while they may have accepted the fact of his existence, it did not mean they actually accepted, not to mention liked, Nasku himself.

Parental approval is not something he usually gets; sometimes a half-hearted attempt from his mother who at least tries to love him since he is her son. Nevertheless, whenever anyone praises him, it is served with a healthy dose of vinegar. One of the lessons he has learned from this and which has shaped him quite a bit is to expect the worst of people, even though there is the possibility of hoping for the best.

His sister Sofi was always the one who was adored and admired for whatever she did. Whenever Nasku tried to do something similar in hopes of maybe catching a little honest praise, he was shot down. When Sofi began playing the cello, following in the footsteps of their musical mother, she was encouraged and showered with compliments. Nasku, unable to properly play a musical instrument himself, came up with the idea of funding musicians or maybe even an orchestra, he’s ridiculed.

As much as Nasku is frowned upon by most of the family, probably even hated by at least Thomnas, he has a fairly decent relationship with Sofi, though sometimes he can’t help but wonder how much of it is real and how much of it is just an act – especially considering the advocacy of Puradynes. Nevertheless, she was probably the only person he would do anything for. He couldn’t believe his luck when she was born, hoping that he had finally found a kindred spirit in her. Much to the dismay of Thomnas, they had grown close. Nasku constantly fears that something could happen to her but at the same time he admires her for who she has grown to be. Then and now, she was and is the only source of real joy in his life, the only one who gets to see his real face.

More than once Nasku was accused of corrupting Sofi, all the more so when she tried to break up yet another fight between her father and her brother. He was also responsible for bringing Anya back into the household after Thomnas had thought they’d successfully gotten rid of her. Of course, he was really to blame for that incident, even though he had only given the necessary information to Sofi so that his sister would convince her best friend that a life lost in opium and prostitution was not worth it. He wouldn’t have wanted any blame to fall on his sister, so he bore the full brunt of Thomnas’ wrath. As this had not been the first time that the siblings had pooled their influence and resources to bring Anya back, Thomnas was even more furious that the girl had found her way back into the household. Coupled with a few other incidents between Nasku and his stepfather, things quickly escalated and Thomnas tried to kill Nasku. The latter escaped out of the house and did not return all night. In the morning, he was back again and the previous night was never mentioned again.

After that, they all settled into a kind of routine, which mostly involved Nasku and Thomnas staying out of each other's way whenever possible. While Nasku resented Thomnas for trying to murder him, he could at the same time not get completely past the incident as it had marked the moment where he finally stopped to see Thomnas even remotely as a father figure. Whatever Thomnas threw in his face from thereon out washed over Nasku and didn't affect him anymore. His mother retreated more and more after this incident, unwilling to fall into Thomnas' bad graces, though she still has the odd smile for her son whenever her husband is not around.

The character looks delightful, and I’m glad to welcome him into the site after all this time. :D

Just one thing needs to be resolved
Tough Skin and Emotional Strength:
Hardships suffered thanks to his own family have given him the strength to stand above being insulted or mistreated by most people, including his family.
And…
Family: No matter how often Nasku tells himself that he does not care about his family he still tries to win their approval and rise into their good graces.
One seems to declare that he is not emotionally effected by his family’s mistreatment, while the other seems to indicate the reverse. I know you were talking about possibly writing more closure for the history. I’d recommend more specifics about how the attempt on Nasku’s life went down, and how that shapes his feelings about his father. Knowing the specifics regarding a scene that traumatizing could be a valuable vessel for exploring this aspect of his character!

However, I won’t require any of the latter part. As long as the Tough Skin and Family traits are reconciled, I can feel comfortable approving this! I’ll leave it to your decision.
