Name: Roy Tmofl

Height: 5'11

Weight: 180

Race: Human

Age: 35

Occupation: Mage currently selling some of his very rudimentary skills out to others. (or rather his crazy reputation.)

Overview: Roy is a slightly nutty scholar obsessed with discovering how to expand his abilities and successfully prove his theories correct. While not being overly powerful or amazing at magic he has developed a way to if not defeat at least trade blows with the best of mages. He is a kind hearted mage that while not afraid to defend himself using whatever means necessary will be very loathe to take life.

Personality: Roy is a little obsessive over his work. Mainly when it comes to discovering new ways to use his very limited abilities in magic. There are a few theoretical things that Roy is currently trying to determine if they are possible for him to do successfully and more importantly survive doing them. Although while Roy may appear weird or odd to most people in Marn that is mainly because he is a magic user and very proudly displays that with his insistence on wearing clothes that just simply shout out wizard. Roy is a happier individual content with his lot in life. If engaged in an easy or mock battle with another mage he would love the chance to study his tactics and maybe learn a thing or two. He is very willing to risk his own life in the pursuit of knowledge. However he can be serious if the situation calls for it and if another person is involved Roy will not take any risks he doesn't have to. Roy is obviously a little nutty but his heart he hopes is in the right place. He will kill but not without good reason or if there is a necessity. Roy does also not like using his devastating energy attacks if he doesn't have to. His most common form of attack is most likely non lethal magical holding, or throwing of either his rocks or the persons body. Although if a truly serious situation is at hand Roy's personality can completely change. He could if he wanted to or something required become very serious. When he is serious he becomes almost like a different person. He is not so much a bumbling scholar with a love for adventure and experimenting as a person willing and possibly able to do what has to be done for what he believes is the greater good.

Appearance:
Image
Roy is a wise yet slightly insane looking man always carrying his hat and staff with him as well as his normal assortment of pouches and gear. He is bearded always and will always being wearing some form of cloak or robe he deems wizard enough in appearance as he refuses to hide what he is.

Common opinions: Roy is seen by most as a crazy wizard with very little actual power just a real knack for mischief. While this is only partly true Not a lot of people can be blamed for having this opinion of him. For no one other than Roy's best human friend has really seen Roy display more powers than the shooting off of rocks and creating of light as well as rudimentary barriers. He only fires of his huge and even small energy attacks in private out in the wastes where he won't be arrested and then killed. So needless to say if the situation ever escalated to the point where a huge energy attack is required it would probably come as a great shock to those who know him and even those who have only heard of him that he is capable of such things.

Strengths:

Roy's greatest strength and the only thing making him a worthy mage is his creativity and originality. His raw magical talent is not weak but by no means impressive.

Magic:

Roy can do two things masterfully well. He can feel energy around his current area, many different types such as heat, lightning, magical energies, light, and mess with the links between things. Although in order to do this energy of some sort has to be involved. In example. He could not lift a sword and bring it to his hand with raw magical ability. Nor could he increase the link between them in such away that it resulted in a magnetic attraction between them. But he could if there was energy to be found near him which there most likely will be create a link between an amount of energy and the space that the sword occupies. Then when the energy surrounds it he can trap it inside of it by creating an anti link all around it which leaves it unable to escape from it. Then he could create a link between the energy around the sword and in his hand which there hopefully is as heat is an energy, which if created strong enough will result in a magneticish connection between them. This is a telekinetic appearing ability but not telekinesis in itself. Here are a few other abilities he has discovered he can emulate.

Empathy: This is one of his favorite. Since he can sense energies around he could home into a person or people around him and create a slight link between their radiating emotions and his thoughts. Roy cannot read minds but he can get a pretty good idea of their emotional state and can also tell if they are concentrating on him for any reason. His ability to sense energies also leads him to be able to see even before evidence is brought to world of sight. If there are people around him, how many if they are spread out enough and close enough, and if magical energy is in the air. Sometimes this lets him see if a person is magic and if an item has been enchanted.

Early warning. If engaged in a battle against another mage. Roy can sense what kind of energy is being shifted or used by them unless they can find a way to stop that from happening. This allows him to not only see what they might do before it actually happens, it enables him to create shields accordingly. So even if a mage pulls out an energy that Roy has never seen if he has enough time to prepare himself accordingly.

Fireball, lightning bolt, or any other basic energy attack: Roy can create a link between a considerable amount of latent energy in his area to a single spot when enough of this energy is gathered and it either erupts in fire (as that is what fire is simply enough gathered energy namely heat to radiate light.) or cackles with electricity (This is slightly harder to do unless there is some electrical source nearby like a light bulb or storm cloud.) Then create a link between his gathered energy and his target. Or create the opposite between himself and the energy. Sort of like a reverse magnetism. This is useful if his enemy has a magical way of defending or hiding himself for this way Roy can simply aim and shoot so to speak. He can also fire off a slightly exhausting and possibly harmful quick shot. Simply a ball of energy shot of from his own supply of energy in his body most commonly heat.

Light: From the above listed skills comes the ability to create light sources like fire or simply light itself which would be harder create but safer to use.

Although while those attacks are by far his most powerful his most common form of defense is his magical shooting of rocks.

He would take a rock and create a really powerful link between it and his clenched fist. Then when the rock attached itself to his closed fist he would create an equally powerful opposing force that would keep the rock in an equilibrium until he created a powerful enough opposing force to nearly crush the rock between the two. Then lastly holding out his arm completely straight and pointing it at his enemy he completely reverses the effect of the force holding the rock in place which causes the rock to (forgive me) rocket away towards his enemy.

Creating magical barriers: Roy can create barriers against both magic and physical attacks. Once again this involves gathering energy and creating another reverse link that blocks out specific things like say for example. Energies like heat, electricity, energies from the astral plane, or physical things like metal, Flesh, wood, stone and basically whatever else. However it costs more and more energy if he wants to expand his shields and block out more than one thing. Like for example he could easily enough create a shield around him to protect himself from a fireball. But what would be much more difficult and nearly impossible to maintain for to long is to create a shield around him and three others that would protect against fire, lightning, and metal.

Those are some of the abilities that Roy has down very well and have little chance of error and are very easy to regulate when it comes to energy output. Here are some of his theories of his that he thinks he could use or will be able to use. There are to many bugs with them to be used in anything less than a dire situation as if he does something wrong he could quite literally die.

Versatility: While Roy's actual magic abilities are very few. Two exactly. He can do various things with them. Not much, but he is working on discovering more. If he does manage to discover some ability he would be able to add that to his list of abilities. This is however a double edged sword as not many things can be achieved at least not easily with the abilities that he is limited to. However Roy wouldn't have it any other way. His struggles and achievements make him who he his so he puts it. The very fact that its hard to come up with a new ability is a good thing to him as he says that it gives him something to do all day.

(Theories that are not really valid strengths.)

Teleportation:
This ability scares Roy for he knows he could do it but if he would survive that remains to be seen. First step one: turning his body into energy. He would do this by creating a link between his body and an energy source like light or heat so intense and so quickly his body would be so bonded with energy that it became like it. Then step two which must happen before step one. He must have already created an increasingly powerful link between his energy body mixture and his desired location. Then step three which must be done at the same time as step two. He must have already created in the desired area of teleportation a field of very powerful and extremely specific unlinking energy that separates his own body from the energy he turned into. Lastly step four which must be done before step two and three. Making sure his own body turned energy is in the slightest way different than the energy he turned into so that there would be something to separate. There are a countless amount of things that could go wrong with this and so as such he has not tested out this ability.

In reality however. Roy believes that he will have to come up with a more efficient use of energy if he wants to be able to use this spell for practical reasons.

Complete and total mind reading: Creating a link so intense between two people’s minds that he could read their thoughts. He doesn't how to do this. If he created a link between their actual minds their skulls would just crash together. And how to make sure the other person doesn't read his thoughts is something he also doesn't quite know yet.

Slowing down time: He would accomplish this by creating a link between his mind and his current position in time, or so he thinks. He doesn't really even know where to start on this one.

Healing: He knows he can make it work he’s just not entirely sure how to actually perform the ability.

Arcane energy: How to harness the arcane energies radiating from his staff into some useful spells. He thinks that while it should be easy enough to harness the energies from it that it may not be safe as he doesn't no what exactly it would do if he happened to try and control it.

There are many other theories Roy may have noted in a book somewhere but currently these are the abilities that he is devoting his studying to.

(Real abilities again.)

Staff fighting: Roy is not a master of the staff but he could deliver a mean blow if he had to. He practices with his staff two days a week for two hours and while that may not be much it is certainly enough to keep him fit and at least able in a fight.

Dagger fighting: Roy is slightly skilled with a dagger. Nothing compared to a guard but enough to outdo the average peasant. He is however actually skilled with throwing daggers his aim is quite good and he can deliver powerful blows with accuracy.

Strength: This is an unusual advantage for a mage however Roy is by far not as weak as your average wizard. He was raised a wood cutter for the first years of his life and that is a habit that carried into his adult life. Commonly if he sees a tree on one of many journeys through a forest far away from the town of Marn he will fell in order to provide fire wood and maintain physical fitness. He is actually quite capable when it comes to this as he has been doing it for years. He could fell a tree about three, four feet in diameter within a couple of hours. This is not to say that Roy is strong enough to overpower many people but he is just as strong as your average working man due to his training regime and his habit of felling trees.

Elvish: Roy can speak and write in the language of the elves learned on his trip to Darleone.

Weaknesses:

Well known mage: Roy is a very well known and hated citizen due to his refusal to hide his studies and abilities from others. Most people treat him like a dangerous madman or ignore him if at all possible. He has very few friends outside of other magic users.

Limited Magical abilities: Unless the desired affect can be achieved through manipulation of both links and energy then it is simply impossible for Roy to succeed at his task. While he is ok with this it still does limit him.

Poor: Roy is normally dirt poor as he only does odd jobs in times of absolute need for money. He prefers to spend his days researching and testing out his theories.

Not the best shields: Roy cannot simply create a shield blocking out physical harm or a wall of force of some kind. It has to be specific and the broader it the less it protects unless he pours a huge amount of energy into his shields. His shields are also not impenetrable even if they are very specific. If more force is applied then what the shields can resist it will hurt Roy so sometimes it just comes down to who can push harder. So basically in order to create a really amazing shield Roy has to pour almost his entire energy into them and they would only be able to last a minute or so before he passes out.

Relying on gear: For some of his spells like creating a lightning bolt Roy relies on gear especially if there is no electricity around. His gear could consist of a piece of fur and rubber which when rubbed together create a little energy that he could use and expand upon. But without another source or these tools Roy could be very hard pressed to find a way to cast his spell.

Reckless: In pursuit of knowledge Roy may do some very dumb things, like wear himself out unnecessarily in a fight with another mage all because he wants to experiment with some things. Or give his enemy a free attack to try out a new type of defense or trap that may not work at all. Or perhaps try out some of his abilities in town where he knows magic is illegal simply for the convenience of not having to travel very far. They would never be noticeable nothing likely to get him caught. But if he made a mistake and somebody saw him the consequences could be horrible.

Nutty: Because of Roy's attitude on life and weird reckless endangerment even those people who don't think he’s crazy for having magic commonly think he is just plain crazy as a human being.

On the books: Roy is a listed user of magic and very well known for his ventures outside of the town in order to go practice his abilities without restrictions. These trips are well known for he makes no secret of his reasons for going and sometimes even from a distance strange lights and sounds can be heard coming from the direction he traveled in.

Minor celebrity: Roy is far more well known in town for being that crazy wizard then he would like to be. Although it does provide him with a job. If any magical disturbances go on around his area he is always checked to see if he had a hand in them. Sometimes things have gotten so serious that in order to avoid a fine that he couldn't pay and jail time, he had to call in ten witnesses proving he wasn't in the area of disturbance.

Hated by the guards: The town guards put up with him but are very eager for a chance to bust him on breaking some form of law. However Roy while hating the law is smart enough to obey it or at least not get caught disobeying it.

Smoking: Roy likes to smoke from a pipe. Not very much and he doesn't have any health problems. However not only is he poor but whenever he does get money he always buys tobacco after ink and quill and whatever else he needs for his research but even food is less of a priority then tobacco.

Forgetful: Roy often lost in his thoughts and studies can be very forgetful. He even forgets to eat entirely some days. While it is not a crippling weakness it is annoying enough to hinder Roy at times when he needs to get things done quickly. However it should be noted that this weakness only affects Roy if he is not serious about something. This is not to say that he takes every situation as he should. For unless something very, very huge is going on or someone very close to him is in danger he most likely will approach it as he does most everything.

Dependency on energy: In order for him to cast any sort of spell there must be a source of energy he can work worth. So while Roy having a very good understanding of how to match another magic user push for shove would not be able to do anything in a scenario where a far more powerful magic user made it impossible for him to manipulate energy. This could be done by simply taking control of all energy in the area and not allowing any of it to be manipulated by anyone other than themselves. Roy has not met anyone with enough power to do that yet but he would be very nearly useless in such a situation or at least magic wise.

Paranoia: If Roy senses someone focusing on him he will immediately get nervous if he can't find an innocent reason for them to be doing so. This can cause him to be strange or edgy around that person and try to get away from them if the opportunity presents itself.

The bigger the attack the slower it is: Roy's large attacks take time to safely put together. Such as an extremely devastating lightning or a huge fireball. He can try to speed up his attacks by making the links he creates stronger but that becomes very energy consuming and very dangerous as his attacks can go wrong and backfire, misfire, explode on himself, and a whole bunch of other stuff. So say for example if he wanted to cast away all of his energy in one huge blast that would take an entire forty five seconds to prepare for. Then when he mentally prepared for it would take another minute to gather the energy safely and then blast it off. Although tossing off a few electrical charges or compact balls of fire can be done quite fast especially if he has already mentally prepared himself. It would take him around ten seconds to get into a mind set of being able to control small bursts of energy. Then around six to get off his first shot. From there he could get one off in around three. Unless he switched energies. It would take at least five seconds to clear his area of other energies in order to restart the process again.

Speed comes with a price: In cases of need Roy can use a nearly instantaneous energy source (his body.) He can focus it into a very condensed medium range attack called a quick shot. Commonly it would be a condensed ball of flame the size of a fist cut off an inch after the wrist. He can get one off only slightly slower than someone could throw a punch. Against an unarmored and unprotected foe it might actually kill them. But this move while being fast is very risky to use in even small amounts (He could probably get off five before falling unconscious). As it draws on his bodies strength and heat extremely. Thus if he used it even just a little bit (two times) it would makes him very susceptible to hypothermia and even more so exhaustion.

History:

Roy is much to the town's utter horror a natural born Marn citizen. His father a wood cutter by trade taught his son the value of a good days work something that would help throughout his life. Then at the age of twelve when it became increasingly obvious that his son was odd muchly in part because of his unnerving ability to read people’s emotions and control the temperature of things. He called in the services of his friend Uldrich Verion a mage who once saved his life. To take his son away and teach him how to control his powers so that he could live a normal life in the city of Marn.

The mage Uldrich did in fact take Roy away for many years traveling from place to place learning how he used magic and how he could help Roy to control it. He visited his father every so often and told him of his progress. He noticed his limitations very early on and was always bothered by how very weak he was compared to his master. It was like trying to compare a kitten and a lion. But then while training with his mentor Roy stopped trying to emulate his master’s ability, and took his advice he would hone his own limited skills and see came of it. He was very glad that he did this.

He found ways of making things work for him. He went from being able to control temperatures and read people slightly to being able to move objects conjure flame and determine another's emotions with extreme accuracy. While this did not come overnight his master helped him for many years to expand upon his powers and help him grow.

Roy's journey with the elves:

Roy only eighteen and still filled with some hot blood was very excited for his trip to Darleone Island. His master a very well traveled man was apparently somehow in good with the elves.

"So master?" "Yes my unwitting apprentice." he would always respond. Roy scoffed at his master’s response. He had grown long accustom to it and knew that his master was only trying to keep him from getting an inflated ego. A wise move Roy decided. "How does the elven culture differ from ours?" Roy cringed as soon as he asked it for as he well knew his master answer very sarcastically trying to get him to learn how to be specific and ask the right questions.

"Well Roy you see. It all starts every morning when the elves wake up. they commonly have a meal then. After that they go off to their daily duties such as growing crops, trading, raising a family, and so on and so forth. They normally take time to eat another meal in the middle of this. Then at the end of the day they go off to their recreational activities and homes then after they are done with their plans they will eat what is commonly their third and final meal before going to bed soon after that."

Roy sighed if he had a beard he would have stroked it. As it was Roy was five ten. with no facial hair, staff or cloak or anything else that he currently carries with the exception of his Robe, his dagger, and his red hat. "Thank you my ever vigilant master." He was sarcastic but his master did not care so long as he remembered the lesson. "Now if I may bother you once more" "No you may not." His master cut in. "I was wondering how the elves differed from humans in such ways as life views and mentalities" Roy asked ignoring his master. "Haha. That my boy is something I want you to record while you visit them. I will check your work once every week for four weeks if it proves to be substantial enough then I will show you one of my greatest attack spells. It has certainly saved my life more than once."

Roy disappointed in his masters response was thrilled at his offer. He imagined finally seeing his masters true powers as he knew was inside of him. His master forgot sometimes. But Whenever an actual threat presented itself Roy could literally feel the energies within a fifty foot radius and that probably wasn't what it stopped at. Slightly shift in such a way that it felt like the person controlling them if they wanted to could not only turn them into something else but pretty much place them wherever they wanted as fast as they wanted. Or so he guessed. He wasn't sure but with the ease and Grace his master portrayed while this happened Roy imagined that this was only the begging of his power.

They entered the elven colony with minimal trouble, his master was apparently well know even among the younger elves. Who Roy thought may have actually been older than his master. Well regardless they still respected him.

Roy did not speak with many of the guards but he did attempt to study everything very carefully. He noticed that it was very well guarded. The elves maybe were a little less serious than humans but they were obviously no less war ready and perhaps even less fool hardy.

Roy for the first few days spent most of his time sightseeing. The elves it appeared largely enjoyed in things that perhaps took time to enjoy or thought or creativity. While the humans he had seen so far valued for entertainment purposes things that were much more blatantly fun or enjoyable. Simple but hey Roy thought to himself. Sometimes what people need is to just relax and take some time to go visit a bar. Speaking of which I have heard some wonderful things about elven wine.

Roy decided to try and find someone who would be interested in selling him some wine. Or perhaps trade him some Roy thought as he looked into his very empty money pouch. He wondered around the city for a while then just for fun he decided to see what kind of energies floated around Darleone. He allowed his mind to feel what wondered around him. There was of course light but that was felt much the same as one would feel wind in the air. Then there was heat much more substantial as far as energies go. He could quite literally feel that there were ten people in his area without even opening his eyes by sensing how many bodies of heat typical to an actual body there were. But there was also another energy. It was one of the most uncommon in the world yet Roy knew it better than any other. It was magic.

But where did it come from. Ahh. That is where. Roy looked over and ceased his concentration. He lost his ability to sense energies around him but he could still see exactly where it was coming from. And that happened to be a quite beautiful elf singing a song of something. Roy didn't know he couldn't understand hardly any elvish. Now some humans consider elves to be no better looking than humans and even uglier. But there was no arguing over the fact that this specific elf was beautiful. She was tall at least 5'9, and very slender. Her face was not particularly elvish. It was more defined than a humans however sharper chin slightly higher cheekbones pointed ears. She was wearing a greenish brown kind of dress. Her eyes were green but the most noticeable feature about her was her hair. That was for the most part a dark black that went down to her neck in the back, and was parted in the middle of her forehead, that hair fell down slightly lower than her eyes, the hair coming down from the sides of her head stopped a little lower than her ears. The reason why Roy was focused so intensely on her hair was because there five brownish blond streaks that cut through it. (He later found out that while this was strange it was actually completely natural.)

Her voice tended to remind you of the beauties of nature and how the world around you was enough to keep you fascinated all your life. Waite...WHAT! Roy was about to drop in the last of his remaining Bishani into her cloak wrapped up in a bundle on the ground. What was he thinking!? He loved wine! How could you get drunk by looking at tree. Then again that smile was so enchanting. It made you feel like your cares and concerns were only trivial matters that could be worried about later and not to mention that magical voice. That's it! Magic! This was spell of some kind! Certainly it wasn't mind control but now that Roy looked at it more closely he decided that she was using magic to improve her song. However if she knew what she was doing Roy could not be sure. He did actually put in five bishani. what could he say it was. "avathcin..." Roy mumbled the elvish word for beautiful.

She smiled at Roy and once again it felt like he was in the presence of the reason why life itself was put on this world. Needless to say he stood there to listen to her entire song. When she was done singing she gathered up her cloak along with her Bishani and came over to Roy. "So where does a human learn elvish?" "From books mainly but I must say lady that what I have read will never compare in beauty to what you have spoken and sang."

She laughed at that and thanked him for his kind words Roy felt as if he had pleased the sun itself which decided to shine just a little bit more on him because of it.

He had completely forgotten about buying any form of wine and contented himself to spend time with Múnaleán soft song in the language of the elves. He learned many things from her mainly elvish and the fact that she had no idea she was a magic user. That is possibly very good or dangerous for Roy. She couldn't use magic on him if she wanted to but then again she couldn't stop herself if she wanted as well. However Roy had so far seemed to be able to resist her quite well if not totally.

Over the four weeks he was supposed to be writing about the culture of the elves the only time his master did anything over than approve his writing was laugh and then say to him that it appears he has fallen in love. Roy wondered why his master said this. His master told him that his last writings were filled with the beauty that he regarded the elves with. Or at least one of them. He remarked that only a heart filled with love could portray such beauty in something else. For regardless of how much the elves value their art I highly doubt you would lay down your life for it as your words might make it sound. Roy smiled and he once again thought that his master knew more about him know than he would ever know about himself.

It appeared that they would be staying a few years in the city of the elves. Roy had no objections, however he would get to see his master even less as he was called away to do favors of magical nature for some of the residents of Darleone. This gave Roy much time to spend with Múnaleán. Something he was very pleased about.

Upon one of their walks together admiring something or other. She asked him how his master was allowed entrance into the city being a human and all. Not she said. That she was disappointing about it. He answered her by saying that his master a very powerful and well traveled wizard who had spent many years of his life trying to help whoever he could no matter who they were. Apparently he happened to help out an elf during his travels and as it was that happened to be the right elf to help out. They actually managed to become friends and through him he was introduced to many other elves all of which in very respectable positions. So as such it was actually quite easy.

Then Roy asked her a question. Why did she spend so much of her time with a human? after all with his spontaneousness and outlandish habits he must seem annoying, perhaps tolerable at best. He had meet her the beginning of his third week and she continued to see him everyday even three days into week six. She laughed at him and called him foolish. She said that things which made him very different were precisely the things she loved about him. Roy smiled at this and asked her if she wouldn't mind teaching him elvish when he wasn't practicing magic. She agreed and asked him if he could help her to understand magic a little more. He laughed and told her what he knew about her. How she could already literally work magic with her songs. She was mystified at this and then asked if he could help her with to improve her skills as her songs are what she made her living with. She was orphaned at a young age and used to beg for money until she realized that she had an amazing talent.

Roy agreed to that as well. So it went for many weeks that they both taught each other to do what they each learned to do naturally until they both became the greatest of friends.

His master loved to hear of this as not only was apprentice practicing magic both by himself and with another he took it upon himself to learn elvish. He was so pleased that as soon as he was able he decided to show Roy that spell he had promised him.

They traveled to a non busy area and looking over at a sign his master said. "Alright...watch closely." Taking a stone he attached it to his closed fist and sent it rocketing at the sign. It dented the wood and bounced off. He laughed like an insane old man when this happened which Roy was suspecting he was. Roy stared at his master and said slowly. This.....is one of your greatest attack spells? "Oh yes, oh yes.". "What did you expect me to do? open up a hole to the plane of fire and throw an entire building into it where it's ashes would be turned into ashes?" "No...But something... more than...this." Said Roy. "Hehe. Roy if I had done that in Marn it would be possible to get away with it. On top of it all. We are not killers Roy we are human. Remember that. Besides I could keep shooting these rocks all day. One huge attack and I'm done in. What does it matter if your enemy is unconscious rather than dead? If they are really that bad of a threat then you can always slit their throat when they are down."

Roy nodded his understanding and while he was still getting over his disappointment he tried to understand what his master was saying. Something about the responsible use of magic in more than one way is what Roy got from this. He nodded his head and thanked his master not only for the spell idea but the unceasing wisdom which flowed from him into his apprentice.

He told Múnaleán about what he saw and what how he felt about it. She laughed her laugh which was to him a sound like the world itself was in joy. Roy was beginning to think that there was less magic at work here and more of his heart. She told him that she thought both he and his master were wise men. He agreed with her about his master but he himself he doubted. She told him that an unwise man would have rebuked his master and never tried to understand him much less accept that they were wrong and someone else was right.

He thanked her for her kind words and they resumed his elven lessons.

During one of their lessons Múnaleán asked how he knew so much about magic and how he could almost see it and feel it. How he knew how it worked and was affected in their attempts to control magic. He spoke about it almost as if it were an entity.

"Come here my friend." He said to her. He smiled at her and when she approached him he grabbed her hand and without even knowing what he was really doing, allowed her to for a minute experience the world through his mind. She saw as he did, felt things the way he did, and sensed what he sensed. She was able to see energy especially the magic Roy or perhaps she herself was using to do this as Roy saw it.

When their minute of connection ended Roy thought to himself that there must be some unbelievably powerful connection between them for that kind of thing to happen. As it didn't normally. Roy had tried and failed to link minds with another person before. This success was incomprehensible. Although he had a small idea of how he was able to do this he couldn't be sure. Perhaps it was her own magical abilities that performed this feat? After all he loved his father and his master and he couldn't connect with their minds like that. What was so special about this women? Ha Roy thought to himself. What wasn't special about her.

She stood there for a while with her eyes closed holding Roy's hand. When she finally opened them she looked at Roy and told him. "That was so...so...avathcin. (Beautiful.)" She smiled at Roy and hugged him. "Thank you Roy for being in my life! Thank you for helping me with this! Thank you for everything." Roy responded. "It was my pleasure."

So it went for six years until he was at the age of twenty four. Roy changed a great deal but she was as eternal as the stars or so Roy told himself. He didn't even quite know what he was saying but still it sounded very beautiful.

It had come time for them leave. She was with Roy when they were departing. She asked if he would ever come back to her and he said to her there were things in this world that he had to help with. Magic to be done and magic to be learned but one day he promised to return.

She told him that she would miss him and Roy responded. "Iuá ohén injóh qué reollár iuá cár'ámn é aváth ám iuá iú bollán néh styryá." (My fair lady of light you gifted my soul with beauty and life I knew not existed.) She with a few tears in her eyes hugged Roy for a long while and then kissed his cheek. She said. "lythán fá iuá cár rèthán é só shatán fá shatór"(Love of my life return with the flight of wings.) She responded and then let go of him. Roy responded. "ág'rán qué riás iuá lythán." (As you will it my love.)

They left and Roy's master told him that "The blood of youth is probably what has kept me alive this long my young apprentice. I want you to know that I'm proud of you." Roy was very gladdened at these words yet he could not help but feel a hint of foreboding.

His master was very old and only a few years later passed away when Roy was twenty seven. He gave him his staff which he enchanted himself specifically to help Roy (although he would not tel him how it would do that.) and allot of Bishani which he was supposed to take to his father now that he could control his powers and successfully live in Marn.

Roy went back to Marn after his many years of travel full of wonder, knowledge, and life. When he found his father his only living parent as his mother died shortly after he was born he told him about his friend and the money he gave him. His father gladly accepted the money but spent it all on getting his friend Roy's master buried in town. It was very costly and took nearly every Bishani that he had but he was successful.

Roy and the swordsman:

Roy had been wondering the wastes for a few days now. He always did this whenever he raised enough money to buy a two weeks supply of food. He like to take vacations to the wastes to practice his magic. Yes that's right I literally can think of nothing better to do with my time and money then to spend them both in this hell hole. Roy thought to himself and (meant it to) as he put down his gear on a hill overlooking the ground on all sides of him. It was a very cloudy day and Roy could literally feel electricity in the air. He looked up at the sky smiling at the thought of rain which must be unheard of out here nearly. Just his luck to get caught with the rare chance of rain when he wanted to practice fireballs. He sighed but decided his lightning needed more work anyway.

Taking a few steps away from his gear he held up his hands to the sky creating a link to the energy in the darker clouds as well as the latent heat in the area. When it all gathered around his hands a cackling ball of electricity formed growing as small bits of light rained from the sky along with the sprinkle that started. He put his hands in front of himself and he began to smile things were working well. The winds picked up or at least that's what it felt like when Roy finally gathered his energy which was forcefully begging to be let go of his control. His hat started to drift of his head a little as Roy created the anti link required for an aimed shot. Things grew darker and colder everywhere but where his energy was.

Finally his arms shaking with the effort of holding still. He let go of his bolt of lightning which shot out into the air with a deafening crack and illuminated the world around him in a blue light as his hat soared backwards. He himself was barely able to stand while it fired off. Then he fell over on his back exhausted and feeling like he had run a mile his breathing was quite labored. But he couldn't help but laugh. That was amazing! Such power as he released was rarely ever seen in the town of Marn. And what a fascinating show to! With the golden lights slowly building into his ball of energy complimented by the darkening world around him as even light itself was used to power his attacks. "Fascinating." He mumbled. Smacking his lips he realized that he was horribly thirsty.

He rolled over a few times and then finally he was next to his gear. He fumbled with his back pack until he found a water skin. He drank a few sips from it gratefully. Then sitting up he wondered where his hat went. He painfully got up using his staff for support he wondered back a little ways towards the edge of the hill. He glanced back impressed with his shot. He had nearly destroyed the large boulder he was aiming for. Then his head snapped in the direction of some sounds that he heard. Fighting? That's odd. He thought to himself. Scooping up his hat he fumbled over to where he thought he heard the sounds.

He saw a lone swordsman fighting off a group of five bandits. Even in the horrible weather conditions he could tell that he was losing. Roy quickly dived to the floor so that they didn't see him. He then peeked out at them from over the hill looking at their positions he decided to just concentrate on one.

As the bandit was about to pull out his cross bow and shoot the man they had intended to rob with their swords before they knew that he was actually quite a capable warrior he was all of the sudden struck by a rock on the head. He was definitely down for the count. Then the same thing happened to another two of the bandits. Each time Roy hit his mark he hissed out "Yes! and shook his fist at them." While it did take Roy around eight rocks to hit three men he still felt like it was good for having to deal with rain and exhaustion. Finally with two of the bandits down the swordsman was able to slay his foes.

Roy hobbled down to go greet the swordsman and help him to take the things from the bandits in order to sell them later. They got to talking and while Roy not knowing this man very well decided to give him a chance for friendship by offering to share his food and drink with him in order to make it back to the town of Marn. The swordsman and Roy have been good friends ever since.

At the age 28 his father finally passed from a disease that had been bothering him for over a year. Roy was with him when this happened and stuck around for the funeral. Not a lot of people attended due to the fact that he was well known for having a magical son. Although when that was over Roy took up traveling again. For as he put it. "My world had changed very much. But the outside world has changed even more and being that I have stopped making sense I would say that I am normal enough to travel."

Although his travel did finally cease at age thirty three when he discovered the rebellion. In order to find a place to stay in town he sold him self out as a sort of bouncer with a scarier reputation than he belonged to. He was given one free room and one meal a day if he stayed there and used his reputation to keep away common drinkers and other scum. The bar was mainly used by other magic users and personal friends of the owner. So while it had a horrible reputation it was actually one of the safest bars. Roy has never had to use anything other than a thrown rock (Natural so far as anyone can prove.), his staff, and the assistance of the real bouncers. This bar is a smaller but nicer one in the slums area of the town. It's name is the happy halberd. No one knows why but the stories about it's origination are quite interesting.

Bouncer work: While more and more people are discovering that Roy won't use magic on them he becomes less valuable as a lot of people in fact try to challenge him despite (actually because of) his reputation. For this reason he is currently looking for a new place to live. But he does manage to scare off a lot of people with his actually quite average but surprising coming from a mage strength. So his reputation dwindles only very slowly. Roy also sees this as a great way to practice his staff fighting. Kill two birds he would remark. So while real bouncers are necessary Roy can actually double up as a passable one.

Roy mainly stays in his room experimenting with his theories or dreaming up new ones when he isn't experimenting or vacationing in the wastes. However he sometimes ears a couple extra bishani by taking a trip to the market once a week and picking up quality foods for the bar. Most of the time it is hilariously disastrous and he is now the sworn enemy of Phil the fruit vendor. Although his money is good, so grudgingly he is allowed to purchase things from him.

After he helps out the people Marn though. He would very much like to return to Darleone. Would they let him? after all he wasn't his master? He hadn't done that much for them. But he would dearly love to end his life with his beloved Múnaleán.

Possessions:

Staff: It is enchanted. It is basically tougher than steel yet very light. It will not break on him and he suspects it would be able to hurt vampires and shifters. It also being magical in itself is always radiating energy. This is perfect for him as he believes that with enough practice he could learn how to how harness this energy and create a few new energy attacks from it.

Two daggers, Belt, robes, cloaks, spell casting items, Books recording information, quills, ink, boots, three days emergency food, water skin, 100 Bishani in a forgotten trunk under his bed. Some normal clothes shirts socks, pants, and his wizard hat of course.

Spell related items. A few small bags holding medium sized rocks around nine in each all of them are an inch in diameter and round. Rubber and fur two pieces each. Gun powder, oil, and his staff which radiates magical energy he is trying to find a use for.

Sorry for the delay. I was asked to review this and I'll give you a detailed review tomorrow.

I do have a good excuse though. The building next to mine caught fire last night when I was writing your review and I had to pack everything up and evacuate. So my glorious response was lost.

Now that the firemen are all gone, no more excuses.

Unfortunately there are a number of issues that would prevent this application from being approved. They're quite serious and would require an almost complete rewrite to address them. I'll summarize three main problems I have. You've written a lot, so I'm not going to wave it away without a thorough review. I don't mean to be too negative, but I do need to explain.

Firstly, you haven't got the first rule of character creation: start small. Roy is anything but starting small. The impression I get from Roy is something I'm familiar with from occasional newcomers - especially if they have prior experience playing a game like D&D - and that is that he seems to be a vessel for magic powers and combat abilities. This is related to my next point, but, simply put, you can't have a mage who's masterful at borderline mind reading, extrasensory perception, casting lightning bolts and fireballs, firing 'energy' balls, nullifying spells, creating magical barriers, and doing all this while running around, fighting with a staff and dagger, having super strength, and some untapped potentially crazy super powers like total mind reading and teleportation.
You mention that he has 'two real powers' but I count at least a dozen abilities that put him way, way beyond what is okay for your first character. His flaws, on the other hand, are superficial things he can ignore. Most are mundane problems, like smoking or being a little 'nutty', but not things that would pose any real obstacles to him doing whatever he wants. For his strengths to be accepted, you need to toss more than half of his abilities. Take a look at approved first time characters to see what we accept.

Secondly and related to the above is the intense focus on his magic and combat. His personality is focused on learning magic that happens to be useful for combat, his history is a history primarily about learning magic and how to fight. When his father dies, it doesn't affect him at all - only gets three sentences explaining that he died and Roy had to go back to learning things. There is a mention in his description about how he's nutty and forgetful (two of his flaws), but he's never nutty or forgetful in his history. He simply progresses from one acquisition of magic power or knowledge to the next. You have written a lot, but I do feel as though it's all there to explain how he could get so many powers. If he doesn't care much about his father dying, you should spend some time explaining how and why that is. I get that he fell in love with a girl, but even though at some point they connected so much that their minds melded, it still seems like she was a fleeting sideshow that he left behind without a problem.
When I'm reading about your character's history to try and understand who he is, quotes from his master showing him how to shoot rocks at people don't interest me, but what obstacles he faces and how he copes with life events does. What I think the real issue is, is that there's so much stuff, but it's not fleshed out, and this leads to point three...

The grammar and punctuation isn't the worst I've seen, but it needs to be better, especially for an application. Quality needs to take precedence over quantity. Sometimes I think it's okay to change font colors to clarify dialogue and condense things (I've done it, I can't say never do it) but not to the omission of proper punctuation. It looks rushed. You need to take a bit more time crafting things rather than getting through so much. You can safely cut out half his history without missing important bits, and then expand on and proof read the rest.
