He had to run back. Sisara wasn't there behind him, and changing that was priority number one in Farius' mind, and number two, and three. The heel of his boot slipped a bit on the dusty ground, but he dug in and regained traction. Shrapnel was still flying, but the larger pieces had already fallen ...

Left it open for Sisara to either come out of the dust/smoke cloud or not, it's completely up to you and I'll roll with either.
