Race: Human
Age: 24
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 125
Location: Eyropa
Physical: Though some say that beauty really only counts on the inside when judging a person, Selena would be a direct insult to that saying. A beauty to behold for sure. Selena held a forestry green eyes and her pale skin rivaled that of the moon. Her hair was long and dirty blond while her facial features seemed ageless. Her eyes always seemed as if she was determined to find knowledge. It always seemed like she was on a quest to make herself stronger than what she was the day before. To be quite honest she was really a sight to be reckoned with, but that only went so far. Selena was refined as a lady, and very seldom allowed her face to be shown. She always wore a long black gown that hid her features and a long black hood that covered most of her face by its shadow. Truly the only piece one would ever see would be that pale skin of her cheeks and the intense look of those emerald eyes. Her back was consumed and covered with tattoos that draped down her back. One of a rosary that ran down her back, in which she had no idea was the symbol meant. The second was a five star seal etched with in the palms of her hands. Both were placed during birth. Underneath her gown she wore black tights that fitted to her small frame and a pair of comfortable shoes, though her robes made it almost impossible for her feet to show.
Possessions: Selena carried very little with her. She was taught how to use a bow and trained in the art of swordsmanship. Her bow rested upon her back along her quiver of arrows, while she kept an arrangement of six daggers with in her clothing for skinning or throwing.
Strengths/Powers
Beginner Sorceress: Selena trains as a sorceress, utilizing and channeling mana to create weaves of magic using five core elements. Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, and Spirit. However as of right now she is only well versed in two elements, wind and spirit.
Spell Arsenal:
Wind: Gust: Selena can call forth a gust of wind to push outwards, and even use it to lift an object for her. However she is a beginner, and could only create enough wind to lift objects no more than fifteen pounds, but can create enough force to stop someone for a few seconds from charging her based upon their strength.
Wind Slicer: Selena can also call forth wind with her magic and make a slicing effect. She normally would use this to cut weeds from the ground of her parent’s farm. The slicer would be fine enough to cut weeds, but if used on a being it would only cause minor lacerations.
Spirit: Minor Heal: Can heal minor cuts, such as abrasions or minor contusions.
Dreams: Since early birth, Selena has had dreams of a past unknown as well as future glimpses. Sometimes they were as real as her touching her face in the morning, and others they were sporadic and very elusive of meaning. Most of her dreams however was not of the future but of a past that was not hers. She sometimes would dream of a lifetime before her birth, perhaps on a different realm or world. In this dream, she was known as Selena Contes Nichole, a being born of Eden by twin gods but cast out when she grew too strong. Stripped of power but not of immortality, she spent hundreds of year honing any type of magical abilities she would come across. Since early youth the dreams were relentless and any time Selena found herself closing her eyes, she would see images of her past life. She later deemed this ability as a curse, and perhaps was the reason why she was always training and searching for more knowledge. Even though she dreamed of herself training under a certain type of magic, she neither understood it, therefore making her thirst for knowledge.
Learning: Her mind always wishes to absorb information. She always is reading and paying heed to nothing more than finding new ideas and new magic. It is a love of hers and a hobby as well.
Weapon Proficiency: During her young age, Selena was taught by elves the strength and power of the bow and throwing daggers. She soon found that she was not a natural at being a marksman but due to repeated practice, she became quite efficient, being able to hit a target while she ran through the woods. She was trained with swords as well, but did not have enough money to buy any. The elves also trained her in hand to hand, making her agile for her age.
Hunting and Trapping: Being trained with bow and arrow by her father who is a hunter, Selena excels on hunting and trapping animals for food.
Weaknesses: Selena is young in body, therefore the power of her magic lasts only as strong as her mind and body will withstand. She wants knowledge but knows nothing more than simple magic such as firing a fire bolt or shifting the wind to move things. Selena as well to note does not weigh much, thus most of her hand to hand would be pointless against a foe much bigger than her. Her skills in swordsmanship is mediocre at best. Though she was trained in swordplay, Selena doesn't actually own a sword, so her skill is very much rusty and remedial. Selena’s very nature is innocent, so she is likely to be somewhat gullible and trusting. She tends to see good in everyone, even a common cut purse.
History:
The Beginning of a Dream
It was Dark….
It was Cold….
The only thing that could be felt was a piece of breath from Selena floating upwards. Selena could see a dark lady standing upon the ledge of a balcony. The wind brushing against her soft black silk gown. The woman she stared at reminded her of herself but dark. The woman was dark, menacing, and yet full of sorrow. The moon light seemed to refuse her. Its everlasting light never seemed to find it’s way under her hood to reveal a face that Selena had known so well. Her eyes were intense, so intense it made Selena shiver. Another dream…..I am in another dream. I want to wake up, I want to return back to my home….please….help me. Her thoughts fell on nothing more than empty winds. She could fell the sadness with in the woman’s heart. It ached for things that Selena could not understand. It mourned for family. It mourned for help.
Selena has had this dream over and over for the past month. She could never get past the look in the woman’s face. It made her own heart fall to pieces. The sadness seemed to consume everything around Selena, thus making her unable to focus on anything else. She felt an unnatural draw to the woman, one that could not break. This time however was different. Though the draw was strong, Selena felt that she could resist it. She managed to turn her head and walk out to the balcony, behind the woman in black. Her body shivered from the cold wind, and she wrapped her own black cloak around her body though it didn’t help much. She walked up beside the balcony and rested her hands upon the edge of it. Her eyes widened as she gazed upon the side of the castle. The darkness was vast, and the only reason she could make out anything was because of thousands of tiny lamps being carried by soldiers. She saw wounded women and children running away from the main gates. The main gate thudded, making a sharp sound through out the entire kingdom. Its happening again! Selena thought to herself. The draw….I cannot move my eyes from the gate. Something is forcing me to look! Selena felt the same pressure as if someone had gripped her head and forced her to remain in one place. Her breaths came in quick succession as fear gathered around her heart. She focused on her breathing, allowing herself to inhale through her nose and exhale through her mouth. This seemed to cause the pressure on her neck to soften to where she could move it again. The thud came again, this time more fierce than before.
Her eyes went to the gate again, but this time she tried to look past it. It worked! Her eyes melded through wood and steel and saw what was on the other side of the gate. A tear rolled from her eye as she gazed upon the largest army she had ever seen. It was a raw group of demons, reaching out past the very horizon. They brought catapults, arbalists, and ladders. Perhaps it was because she was afraid, but she had never noticed the walls shaking. It seemed that their footsteps caused the ground to quake. The city would fall, but what was this? Which city is this? Her eyes turned and met the woman. Tears ran freely from this dark lady. Her face was distraught now, portraying that of her eyes. Her body shivered again, as she heard foot steps climbing the outside stairs. A young girl ran up to the outside door and thrust it open. “Matron Selena! We are being over taken! He has betrayed us Selena! And we cannot flee because they have locked down our gateways! Phase is not answering our calls!” The young girl spoke with fear in her voice. Wait. Selena? That is my name…what? For the first time in a month, the dark lady actually moved. It was sudden and if Selena wasn’t staring deep into her eyes she probably would not have caught it. Those intense eyes flickered and moved to the left as if the dark lady stared at something. Selena was taken back by this, because the only thing to the left was……She looked around and turned around then froze. Me! Question after question formed in her mind as she realized what the woman was staring at was actually herself. She neither knew how this could happen for she was in a dream or vision of some kind. She had once tried to speak with people here, and the only response she ever got, was the horror that she was alone in a dream state she could not force herself out of. However, it seemed as if this dark lady knew she was standing there watching. She took a step back but something caught her arm. A hand…..the dark lady’s hand was latched to her skin. Slowly….she stood face to face with a woman she had watched all her life. A woman she feared and loved at the same time. Those eyes laid judgment upon Selena’s own being and she buckled. Slowly the arm yanked her, drawing her towards the dark lady. Selena panicked and fought but nothing could stop this pull. Her body melded into the form of the dark lady and slowly they began to fuse…….No! NO! I am not you! I don’t know who you are or what you want! But you cannot take me as your own! You CANNOT have ME!!!!
Her mind woke up, and her voice lit up the room with her terrible scream. A glass next to her bed shattered into pieces, as sweat draped from every crevice of her body. Her body heaved from the heavy breathing she let out as tears ran relentlessly down her pale face. Her heart acted as if she had fell from a high balcony and had prepared for death itself. Every beat seemed to cause her pain. At that moment she had wished it would have stopped, so she could never go through that again. She noticed her bed drenched with sweat as her door opened. An elderly woman walked in, concern overwhelming her face. “My dearest one. What is the matter? Have you had another dream?” The elven woman spoke with a very soft tone but her worry could not help but drip from her words. A nightmare is more like it. Selena thought to herself as she began to compose herself. Her emerald eyes locked upon her step mother and she managed a weak smile. Why did she fell so weak? As if all energy was drained from her body……
“I believe I am fine mother. I am sorry that I broke your glass.” Selena then flushed out of frustration. She was tired of not knowing how to control these dreams. She was so tired of how it made her weak and drained. She was so tired of not knowing why she was so tired all the time. Her frustration made her shed another tear and it seemed that her step mother had understood her thoughts. The woman moved closer to her and sat down upon the edge of her bed. Selena felt arms wrap around her small frame and she felt the love in the hug. Her mother spoke very softly and amazingly even a voice so soft still held its normal melodic tone. “Your dreams seem to want to consume you my dearest. However they cannot have you, because you were given to me as a miracle. You cannot allow yourself to be consumed by this. So instead of dreaming tonight, listen to my story and listen well.” The mother tensed at that moment and took a deep breath.
“ I remember you Selena of mine….I remember you my dearest child. It was a cold winter……. many many years ago. That year was hard for me, for many things died through out the winter. I lived in a small farm in the outskirts of Eyropa with your step father. Times were rough, but we managed to barely scrap by. We never gave up, though I remember I was so so hungry. When I thought all our hopes had diminish, that our lives would be forfeit and return to the earth, I went on a walk through the forest. All I could remember was that I was so hungry, but yet my legs would not give up. They moved with purpose though my mind told them to stop. I remember my hands pressing against the trees as I walked by feeling their strong bark. How I longed for that strength. However I truly wanted to just fade away in the night where my story would be lost. However my destiny, my fate….took me to the base of a river that laid off to the west of our farm. The moon light there lit up the river completely. I bent down and took two handfuls of water and washed my face. I could feel strength leaving my body, and it felt as if my spirit had decided to leave as well. It was tired as well, and longed to join my brothers and sisters in the world unknown. I laid down upon the river bank, completely starved of life and food. I had no more to offer this world. I remember wishing that my husband had never found a woman as me for I must have been a bad omen. That is why I must die alone.” Her mother’s voice cracked than, as Selena felt a tear fall upon her cheek. The tear itself met one of Selena’s and together they overlapped becoming one and ran down together; only to drop softly onto Selena’s arm. Her mother continued.
“ At that moment, my voice was broken, and I no longer had the strength to cry. It seemed like eternity had passed by. Then I felt the edge of the water rush up and touch my legs. I thought the river had heard my plea of my heart and wanted to take me. That, my daughter, was not the case. A beautiful bassinet rose from the water. The moon light seemed to bend at its wake. The bassinet brushed against my form, and then I heard a voice from the forest. It spoke with compassion but it held a stern voice.“ Selena’s Step-Mother nodded with a touch of determination in her eyes. “ A woman’s voice spoke to me. It said get up. Get up and live. And so my dearest one, I got up. I went against the pain of my body and found strength in myself. I peaked into the bassinet. There I found you, a baby full of energy. You were neither crying nor upset, but your emerald eyes locked on mine and I felt such a warmness that I no longer wished to die. I no longer felt hungry or afraid of my life. I never had felt that way before, even in all my decades of life upon this earth. So I picked you up, and carried you back home. My husband was there waiting for me. He was so worried and it seemed as if he was mourning. Perhaps he had known my feelings and my intentions but was too weak to do anything. When I came home with you in my arms giggling, I also came to my husband and to life. It was because you gave me the will to live. That night my husband had caught three rabbits with in his traps, which was a miracle in itself because it was said that no animals were left in our region due to the harsh climate, but come to find out, a population of assorted animals appeared that night you came. That was no coincidence my child. Oh I remember you. That is why you must not give in to this pain and sorrow, because you are my savior and the very reason why I still draw breath. Whatever this is that haunts you, you can overcome it.” With that said, the mother drew Selena closer and began to hum a song. The melody reached out and grasped Selena and slowly she felt her eyes getting heavy, and she fell into a deep sleep. This time a dream did not come, but instead Selena felt love and peace.
That had been when Selena was fifteen. Now being in her twenty fourth year of life, Selena had grown since then. She still was haunted by dreams, but yet she was able to emit more control over it. It was an oddity at its best, but Selena had managed to break that cycle of fear and move on from each dream. Though she held questions she neither voiced her thoughts but kept them to herself. Perhaps it was piece of a puzzle she needed to figure out on her own. Selena remembered nothing of how she ended up with her mother, except from what her mother had told her. She had accepted everything and loved her parents dearly. A sigh left her lips as she cleaned up the house. Her mother and father were away at the market which was a ways from her home. She always wanted the house to be orderly and clean for when her parents came home. She moved from the kitchen area and her emerald eyes followed side walls only to rest upon her books in the corner. Selena, it seems has had quite a bit of talent in the art of magic. It came to her as naturally as walking came to humans. She was fortunate enough that her mother was quite the sorceress herself. Not only did her mother teach her the art of magic, but her father himself was quite expert with a bow. Spending so much time in the secluded part of Eyropa, Selena had spent the time well, learning from each of her parents. She was weak in the art of magic. She only knew how to weave her mana into specs of fire. She understood that magic was not a tool to be used for everything, but she enjoyed it so much. She soaked in knowledge as fast as she could, and ran off into the woods to practice. Her mother taught her great things, and they held lessons ever week. They rotation the object of discussion every week in five core parts. She was taught that fire was to offer warmth and can be made into offensive abilities. She had once made a fire ball which burnt a portion of a tree, but she was punished for it for two weeks. She remembered her mother lecturing her on how magic was there to aid people who needed help and should never be used against someone, unless her life was threatened. She had lessons on the essence of water. Lessons on how to create water from the air, and create even a defensive barrier with it. Wind was perhaps one she was almost the most talented with. She could create a gust to blow away the dust from the steps of her home and even sometimes she could manage to sweep the house with a gust of wind. Of course she only managed to do this when her parents were away. Her lessons in earth were not always the best. Selena barely managed to make the ground budge an inch unless she got so frustrated her magic leaked from her grasp creating a chain reaction with in the ground. Her mother lectured her on control of her emotions. Spirit was the last lesson she would have before moving back to fire the following week. Selena found this the most important, for she could actual heal people with it. Though she managed to only heal minor wounds such as abrasions with the spirit weave, she enjoyed doing it. It gave her a sense of duty in a sense, that all this training would not be wasted. Her lessons however was put on hold by her mother as she was away, but it did not stop Selena from practicing. Perhaps if she could grow stronger then maybe she could go out from the house and venture into the world. She could live off the land and maybe meet other people. She had only known two people her whole life and when asked if she could leave and go into town, they told her it was too dangerous. She longed to go on adventures that she had read in books. Maybe…..Maybe someday she will go on one. Until than, Selena decided on focusing on her studies.
