The Doctor is in

Post by Metarie » Sun Jan 22, 2012 1:43 pm

Summary:
The idea of this thread is that the Hospital is a fixture in the community, and as such, needs a regular place for posts. :) It is a work in progress.

Medical service in Marn is free. The Marn Hospital is the only legitimate medical facility and medical care is highly regulated in accordance the Laws of Marn and the Marnian tomes. People seeking legitimate medical care can post here and medical services will be provided.

Availability: Open

Posting Speed: As posts are made, can be made - subject to the participants.

Characters Involved:
Dr. Guile Marcus (Player Character, when the writer chooses to include him)
Metarie Sehkhara (Player Character) - If Metarie is in another thread, a summons for her particular service can be made at any time. If she cannot attend, an NPC can also be used. Authorized medical doctors are allowed to make house calls.

NPCs include:
Dr. Rosalind Gerinkind - Gnome Doctor at the Marn Hospital
Michael - a Human Doctor (recently passed his exams and worked as an assistant prior)
Keris - human female, assistant working on her Doctoral degree at the University

If other medical personnel have been called out as NPCs let's get them noted here.

Location: Downtown & Business District: http://www.tharshaddin.com/rp/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2777

Other Notes: This concept is still fluffy, but I think it makes sense. So, if you post here, please bear with me.

Guile can cause a bit of drama to make things interesting by being a dick to Metarie. She would already have met him at some point in the past and probably sees him once a month or so when he comes in to survey the hospital and treat patients.

Whew! Busy week done with, and now finally the weekend.

Now, Arria's entrance to the thread here might be a bit tricky-ish. I'd imagined her likely collapsing from fever and exhaustion just before she actually reaches the city, and then perhaps some guards could find her on the road and bring her in to the hospital. I don't know if Metarie could discern that her sickness was of a magical nature, but if she could, then there could be some interesting discussion/interrogation of the circumstances of her sicknesses, considering that she hasn't exactly declared her magical ability at the Hall of Justice yet.

Thoughts?

If she collapses within the city limits, we can assume some guard person might be nice enough to tell some citizen to take her to the hospital.

Ree (or Guile) will do the check-up. Magic is not the automatically used in the hospital. Doctors are required to ask the patient if they would like traditional or non-traditional medical treatments. Traditional = no magic. A very small percentage will allow magic to be used on them. It is tainted after all... If the patient is unconscious, Ree is technically not allowed to use magic on them because they did not agree to it.

So, just get Arria to the hospital and we will go from there.
