Physical Description: Breda is a she-dwarf of average height and a somewhat stouter-than-average build. She has dark brown, slightly reddish hair, usually kept on a simple ponytail. She has a reasonably pleasant-looking but not very memorable face, with large grey eyes.
She wears practical woolen and leather clothing, mostly in brown and green. Looking at her clothes, an observant eye might be able to tell that she is not exactly a rich person.

Possessions: A simple steel dagger, sheathed at her belt, or, in an environment that does not approve weaponry, hidden somewhere within her clothes. A simple wooden flute she picked up from somewhere. Occasional first aid equipment and herbs that she has been able to acquire.

Powers or Strengths: She has something of a healer’s touch. Nothing magical, but the study of healing has for a long been a hobby of hers, and she seems to be a natural talent. Not having received any official training, her abilities are limited to healing minor to moderate injuries and helping the diseased with splints, stitches and herbs. Her greatest dream is to become a professional healer, but so far the world has not given her an opportunity to pursue the dream.

She is a self-educated flute player, not a virtuoso but skilled enough to play the most typical folk songs and drinking songs.

She is somewhat cynical in nature, and her life has given her no reason to hold high ideals, but she has a warm heart and is fiercely loyal and protective towards those she calls friends.

Weaknesses: Though relatively young for a dwarf, Breda is not exactly in perfect fit. She has had a rough life, and it has taken a toll on her body. She has been malnourished for a large part of her life, and suffered various illnesses which sometimes still remind her of themselves. Her right leg has once broken just below the knee and not healed quite right, and she sometimes walks with a limp after physical strain or during chilly weather. When entering the game, she is in the early stages of pregnancy.

She is a daughter of a violent father, and has worked for a long time in a brothel with undesirable consequences. Consequently, she does not hold men in very high regard. Today she works for a male dwarf, and is slowly regaining her trust towards the other gender, but she feels much more at home around women, and unfamiliar men may find her reserved and distrusting.

History: Breda, born in the city of Marn, was a daughter of a poor family with too many children and too little love. She walked away as soon as she could, even though she had no place to go to. She ended up spending years literally in the gutter, as a beggar, busker and a thief. Occasionally she managed to get a some sort of job, as a sweeper, water carrier or even a barmaid, but eventually she ended up as a prostitute.

Becoming a prostitute was actually a step up for her in terms of surroundings and survival, as she became an employee of a reasonably classy brothel, dying to get a dwarf in the ranks. She had a roof over her head, several sets of clean (although quite revealing) clothes, and more food than she had ever known possible to have. Consequently she ended up staying there for several decades.

At that point of her life she had little dignity left, so being a prostitute was not a moral dilemma for her. The brothel took good care of the girls; they were seldom subjected to violence from the customers, and some of the other girls, who were mostly humans and half-elves, became good friends with Breda. She also very much enjoyed the food - the brothel was fairly well-off, so there was no lack of it - and for the first time in her life turned from starving skeleton to a somewhat chubby woman.

The girls, Breda included, sometimes visited the city hospital to have an occupational disease cured or the occasional injury healed. Breda found herself fascinated by the art of healing, and the doctor, a gnome by the name of Rosalind Gerinkind, noticed her enthusiasm. She started to give Breda little lessons every time she visited the hospital, and eventually Breda became able to do some of the healing work by herself.

However, as sometimes happens in brothels, she eventually got pregnant. That scared her enough to leave the brothel, although the mistress of the house and the other girls tried justly to convince her that she would be better off staying. So she wandered back to the streets, carrying a half-dwarf baby inside her, without any plans but determined to survive as she always had.

However, this time luck was with her. She did not have to be on her own for long, for she met a human, a blacksmith known as Joran Vondan, who perhaps took pity on her and accepted her as an apprentice. So she started learning the craft, in the hopes that she would finally be able to lead a tolerable life, supported in a dignified manner. She still remains friends with the girls and the mistress of the brothel, visiting them regularly and helping them however she can.
